Rating: Summary: Read it, Best one yet!!! Review: I've read all the Jordan books, WOT and most if not all the Conan books, this is his best work yet. He ties all the rest of the WOT books together with this one. I'm now reading it for the second time.
Rating: Summary: "Path of Women" worst in series Review: I love this series (The wheel of Time) more than any other. I am a little disgusted at the wait for this book now. If you have not bought the book then wait for the soft cover. Here is a percentage of characters Elayne, Egwene, Nynaeve = 95%...Rand 3%....Perrin 1%....Matt 0%. This book went no where. This whole book should have been two chapters in a sequel. It was so slow that I started flipping pages til a new chapter then I flipped again. This is the worst book in the series so far. It was very boring. Now, we have to wait another two years for a sequel. This is Mr. Jordan's first sub-standard book in the series and I hope its the last.
Rating: Summary: Great! ... But where's the rest of it Review: I think every wheel of time fan will agree with me that what is in this volume is great. It's what wasn't included that gets my goat. I was left hanging for two years to find out what happened to Mat. Uh make that four. Mazrim Taim. Make it four. Thom Merrilin. Four more. Any revelations. 4 morr. My only hope is that it might only be one more year. Anyway what you do get is still worth the price of admission.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, felt a little shorter than the rest. Review: The 8th book is an exellent book for any WoT fan. The story is well done with a few surprises and new questions. Why does everyone believe book 9 is two years away. PoD was delayed because RJ had some other projects to do, such as New Spring. I suggest PoD for any fan of WoT! Thankyou Robert Jordan.
Rating: Summary: Not the best of his Works, but far from his worst. Review: I've read all of The Wheel of Time books and I think that I can say that this is not his best writing. The deep interest about the actions of Egwene and all other Aes Sedai are all well and good but I think that Mat is a much more interesting suject. Whatever the case may be, I find that the storyline has become very complex (which is not a bad thing) but sometimes I gotta read the chapter again to get what it's about. The book also opens up new questions like "Who are these new Forsaken?". All in all, the book left me with an anticipation to read the next one. Another TWO YEARS!! I moan at the thought.
Rating: Summary: I think my copy is missing a few hundred pages!!!! Review: Uh...am I missing something here? Jordan spends 600 pages building up several plot lines, weaving among his characters, preparing readers for the climax, and then ... wait, where's the rest? This book has one resounding theme: traveling. Yes, everyone is traveling to their separate destinations in this book. And then when they finally get there? The book ends. I do not want to ruin any of the story (as so many reviewers like to do), but I will say that this book left me completely unfulfilled. There is no resolution whatsoever to any plot line in this book. We have no more clue of who anyone really is, or could be, or is disguised as, or used to be and was resurrected as, than before the book started. It really seems as if this book was just stopped early. Plus, on top of only being 600 pages long, there are less lines per page and characters per line than previous books. All in all, this is a very short book with very little happening. It took 3 years for this? The only thing that really made me happy about this book is that all those heroes out there that think they know exactly what is going to happen either had a lot of their predictions proven absolutely wrong or have to wait at least another two years to see if the rest are correct.
Rating: Summary: Disapointing Review: Two and a half years I waited for this book, and this is all there is to it? The book had its up's and down's, but it felt empty. The book seemed to short, and there still isnt much acomplished. This book seems like it would be the 1st half of a book robert jordan usually writes. Elayne uses the Bowl, and goes to Caemaly to claim her throne, Perrin does absolutely nothing worth the amount of pages wasted on him, Mat isnt even talked about, Egwene and the rebels are STILL making there way to the white tower (2 books and they still are traveling), Rand drives back the seanchan, which is the height of enjoyment of the whole book, thats all there is to this book, the rest is flowery words making this 100 page prologue into a 600 page story. This is why i gave it a 2. Over TWO years just for this, i excpected much more. I am debating rather or not to read any more of the series, i think i will as long as his next book comes out before October 20, 1999. I wont wait that long again to be dissapointed like that. Overall it was a OK book, sorry RJ, but it was dissapointing. This is my opion only and has nothing to do with the rating i gave the book: Do I even need to say how dissapointing the end is? Rand is "beaten up" by 3 Aiel "women", he also backs down from Cadsuane, as she embarres him, and Elayne tears down his banners and tells him to get out of camelyn. When did he become weak willed? Did i miss a chapter? On a good though i didnt mind reading about Nyanave for once, she has matured a bit and i find myself taking sides with her more than once. To finish, am I the only one who thinks Rand doesnt need to be taught humilty and to care from Cadsuane? Hes not hard enough as he should be, he still cannot kill a woman, even one attacking him, and he grieves way to much over women dead. This gets very tireing i hope RJ changes this, or Rand wont survive to make the last battle cause he will die to either a black ajah, forsaken, or damane, even though they are ordered to let him "rule" right now, that will change in time. A wise man once told me this, a enemy is a enemy, is a enemy. Rand needs to learn this and quit grieving about women.
Rating: Summary: Not up to par with other classic writings. Review: Those of you who expected great things from the new release can only dream about book nine. Those of you who like to read long, drawn-out, predictable material should read the book over and over or just once because the results will still be the same, yawn!Gone is the action, gone is the quick plot twist, and gone is my respect for Mr. Jordan.Mr. Jordan are you just writing useless fill in your books because your bank account is low or because you have lost your place in your own story. The public will still buy it because it has your name on it and I will continue to buy it because you might actually return to your former great status. The book would have recieved a two star rating because of content, but the fact that you are (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) one of the greatest fantasy writers of our time brought my opinion down to a one star rating. You no longer seem to be able to compete with an Ender's Game or Lord of the Rings. This recent release has left me sad and praying that another writer can take the now empty spot you have left in the ranks of the great ones.
Rating: Summary: Major Disapointment Review: It took us two years to get HERE? This book doesn't offer much in the way of plot development, and leaves most of the major characters more or less where we found them at the end of Crown of Swords. More than ever before, I felt that this was half a book, padded out with an inordinate amount of meaningless (and often annoying) filler. If the series continues to "progress" at this rate, we're looking at a 15 to 20 volume work that Jordan may not live to complete! It's almost as if Jordan is deliberately spinning out this series, because he doesn't have confidence in his ability to create another concept. I'm afraid I've lost patience with this. It's time for Jordan to wrap this series up and move on.
Rating: Summary: Finally, more answers than questions Review: This 8th installment of the Wheel of Time series marked a refreshing change from A Crown of Swords, in that some of the multitude of plot threads are finally starting to come together. Throughout nearly the entire book the story seemed more focused than earlier books in the series, and in classic Jordan fashion the ending leaves you on the edge of your seat and begging for more. All in all, this is probably the best in the series since The Shadow Rising, and definitely worth picking up ASAP.
