Summary: On the Heights, the path is paved with daggers...
Review: Wow! Jordan sure had me fooled with the tiele of this book! How many of us were expecting a book about Mat and his mis-adventures with the Seanchan? Or to learn more about the Nine Moons?

Happy to read anything relating to RandLand, I am indeed disappointed with the book as far as where it leaves us in the story line! If you're new, you NEED to start at Eye of the World!

Summary: Good but not the best!
Review: Jordan has made a fine addition to his fantasy series. Path of Daggers offers a different feel from the previous books focusing more on intrigue, subplots, and positioning. In my opinion it was a great move for Jordan to do this. He is showing care in plot depth not just fast action. This book has a very dark forboding feel to it especially at the end. Look for Book 9 to be a whirlwind of shattering events. Perhaps a Gathering of Storms if you will.

Summary: The Calm Before the Storm
Review: (NOTE: I do love this series. If this review seems to show _The Path of Daggers_ in any sort of negative way, it is unintended. I loved reading Book Eight, as I loved reading every book that preceded it. The Wheel of Time may be my favorite fantasy series ever. Don't let this review lead you to believe otherwise.)

In both this book and the previous one (Book Seven), nothing really remarkable happens. Sure, Rand captures a country or two, a few new enemies pop up, and there are some twists in the plot. But there was no grand-scale battle like Dumai's Wells. Nothing like when Mat called forth dead heroes with the Horn of Valere. No shocking new Discoveries (like Traveling).

The same happened in the fifth book, _The Fires of Heaven_. Nothing remarkable occurs in that book, either. And the sixth book that followed it is, in my opinion, the greatest of the series. Simply told, the _Lord of Chaos_ ruled, but only after we suffered our way through Book Five.

So what is the moral of this story? Expect something huge for Book Nine. Because you sure didn't get too much with Book Eight. Or Book Seven.

These books are the calm before the storm. Hopefully, Book Nine will be all that I envision it to be.

Summary: One down, more to go (but where's Mat?)
Review: I'm thinking of writing a book called "Everything I Need to Know about Power Politics I Learned From the Wheel Of Time". I'm wondering if Robert Jordan wasn't Special Forces, considering some of the strategies & tactics he suggests, especially for the Aiel. The books are entertaining, but a little longer than they need to be (I find myself skimming and it doesn't matter) and the prose is not first-rate, but it's not bad. Overall, a very addictive read.

Summary: I was disappointed!
Review: After a two year wait, this book was not what I had hoped for. The plot is moving at a snail's pace and there seems to be a lack of cross-talk among the characters. Also, by introducing so many other players in the book, I feel that it dilutes the storyline and leads the reader away from the central theme. While I voraciously read the first 5 books, the last 3 books (including this one) have left me wondering whether I will continue to follow the series. But, I most likely will keep reading with the hope that Mr. Jordan will return to the original style of writing and plot development that made the books so wonderful to begin with!!

Summary: Nice bulletin from the front, but too short
Review: As with Crown of Swords, I was glad to hear about what folks were up to, but considering that the cliffhanger in CoS was leaving Mat unconscious, I thought it rather unkind not to get to him AT ALL. Also, there was so little resolution, it was a little frustrating - we learned little about any of the Forsaken, and while it was nice that Perrin is learning how to cope with his wife, even the comparatively minor problem of the Prophet wasn't solved.

I'm sure Robert Jordan is under pressure to bring books out as fast as possible (I'm certainly always anxious for the next), but these comparatively short episodes are not as satisfying. Is it truly possible the whole thing will be resolved in 2 more books?

Summary: This series should be called "Stalling for Time"
Review: Take a review from someone who has READ the book.

I'll admit, I pre-ordered the book about 3 months before it came out, anticipating a wonderful sequel. I was quite disappointed when I read this book. This book was book 8 in "The Waste of Time". If you're looking for a Fantasy Series to read, avoid this one until Jordan figures out how to finish a series.

Only a handful of new events took place in this book. The remaining 450 pages were merely rehasing of old events that have been with us for the past few books. I agree with a previous review, which said that the past 3 books could have been compressed into one book, with no loss of storyline.

All-In-All, it was a decent book, but not worth the money, or time that I have waited for it. If you're not patient, don't read this series. It's on year 8, and doesn't look like it's going to finish for at least another 4 years.

Summary: The enthralling series continues.
Review: Jordan continues this massive epic in his classic style. Although the plot lines aren't advanced significantly the book stills grabs you and won't let go. So make sure you have spare time before you pick up the book because you won't set it down until it's finished. If you're a fan of the series definitely pick this book up right now because it is well worth it, written in the Jordan style that so many fans have come to enjoy.

Summary: yawn...more of the same
Review: What started out as a great series in books one through three as degenerated into a soap opera. There's a lot of words but not a lot happens. Jordan needs a good editor to get him back on track.

Summary: As a fan would expect. See the Wheel Turn!!!
Review: As with any fan of WoT who has been eagerly waiting for this latest book, The Path of Daggers is exactly what we have come to expect. With his unique story telling ability, Robert Jordan weaves a great tale. We see Rand still working on uniting the world; Perrin working as his general; Elayne moving to take her crown; Egwene taking control of the rebel tower... BUT WHERE IS MAT? More than any other book is the series, we can begin to see the parts coming together for the final battle as predicted in the Prophesies of the Dragon. After waiting three years for this book, waiting for the next one will seem just as long.
