Summary: Not too shabby.
Review: Well, As many of you point out, this was not one of Mr. Jordans best books. Oh well, TS. Maybe he didnt have a definate direction for his characters. Maybe he had so many directions he just needs to set up their paths for us to follow. Maybe he didnt realize that he was creating by far one of the best series of the decade, maybe ever. Give the man a break!! Yeah, we all missed Mat, but werent we all glad to see Elias back in the picture? We all seen what happened to Faile and Siuan was coming, didn't we??! I dont think so....

Chill out folks, Maybe he's sick of hearing all the dissapointment from fans (some more petty than others) of particular storylines, that he just didnt know how to make everone happy.. If He did that, the book would have been another 500 pages longer (also increasing the wait)! His books fluctuate in the events that take place, look at book 3 for example, and 5, they certainly werent the fastest paced books in the series, but they sure led to a lot. I think that Mr. Jordan will redeem himself (if anyone thinks that is really necessary) in the next book.. But, we will wait, and wait, and see.....

Summary: *sniff* don't listen to these whiners, it was a GOOD book
Review: Mind you, I said it was a GOOD book. Not GREAT, like tGH or LoC, and not RJ's best, but it was at least another volume. As I realize, only the TRUE Robert Jordan fans can find any good in it.

RJ gave a lot to chew on. New characters, plot resolutions, and some deep foreshadowing. By the end, everything is SO perfectly set up for book #9 that you have to read this volume just to get the inside gist.

Therefore, as you read the rest of these reviews, ignore those that were disappointed because they don't know just how well RJ is doing with the story.

As a side note, PoD reached #1 on MANY bestseller lists. HE IS THE BOMB!!!

Summary: Less cruelty and a return to likable characters, PLEASE
Review: Even though I also wished more action in PoD, I did not have many concerns about the plot. In fact I like that they are finally hunting the Black Ajah in the tower. However, there were two things that bothered me:

1. I did not like the cruelty in the book. I can handle death in battle or a murder now and then But I did not like how many people were slapped and degraded to show who is charge within the relationship. Strangely this happened amongst the differing groups of women, all who we were led to believe reached their power through intelligence rather then strength.

2. I also found myself liking the characters less and less. An example of this is my reaction to Elayne's dismissal of Rand near the end of the book. In earlier books, I would have wanted to remind her that he was the one that kicked the Forsaken out of her country and thus had every right to give her the throne. However, I was not angry, Rand is not a character that I am particulary fond of at the present point in the series. Still I did find myself liking Egwene better then I think I ever had.

Hopefully the next book will address some of these concerns, because I will definitely buy it and the ones that follow.

p.s. Don't leave out major characters!

Summary: Disappointing, lacks closure.
Review: I am a huge Robert Jordan fan and waited about two years for his latest book. (It seemed like forever.) When I finally got it, I was very disappointed. It read more like a five chapter book and left to many loose ends. (It almost appears he was trying a new style.) One of the main characters in the series is not even mentioned when at the end of the last book he had been attacked. (Readers know who I mean.) Robert Jordan is a fantastic author and I will definitely buy the rest of the series but I feel he cheapens himself and his audience by not putting forth more effort and providing enough closure. He keeps writing in more subplots but rarely finalizes one. (By now, Robert Jordan has more than enough subplots to satisfy two more books and lead into another "post last battle series.") This is what makes the book feel incomplete and like the Friday episode of some TV soap opera. I prefer the longer books in which a greater degree of closure is provided. Please, Robert Jordan, don't disappoint us any more and write the next book as fast as possible - none of this two year waiting stuff. My wife is another big fan and she felt the same way but would probably write her critique a little better.

Summary: Not the best. But still great!
Review: I think Robert Jordan is an excellent writer and people need to lay off him. If you guys have better ideas I suggest you send them to him, e-mail them to him or his publisher. He could probably use it. If you haven't read the Wheel of Time series I suggest you do, start at the begining. The books are long but worth it.

Summary: Pathetic
Review: A Pathetic effort by Mr. Jordan. This book might as well have been a Choose Your Own Adventure book! As a matter of fact, maybe Jordan and his publisher should consider releasing the books in such a manner, that would allow for all of us who are interested in what is going to happen to see how this series is going to end! The rest those folks who have no life(and who maintain that this was actually a good book!) can then sit around waiting for Jordan's next installment of swill! This book was crap that is all there is to it. Shame on you Mr. Jordan, I'm done with this series!

Summary: I am laughing at these posted reviews¿
Review: ...and crying at the same time, because I know that they are true. Almost all the reviews range from low to poor satisfaction and I am one of them. I also started reading this series when "The Eye" was in hardback. Hell, now that I think about it, I was a completely different person when I started reading the WOT! Now I have a job, gray hair and a mortgage payment and Jordan is still no closer to closure with Rand. I am worried about losing it before Rand does and I am finding it harder and harder to justify my pining for the next book. I am considering waiting until Jordan is all done with the series, then going back to read from beginning to end...to my grandchildren. Below are some the more entertaining comments posted to this site:

Quotable Quotes **Here is a percentage of characters Elayne, Egwene, Nynaeve = 95%...Rand 3%....Perrin 1%....Matt 0%... **5 American dollars says the fight between The Dragon Reborn and the Dark One goes 12 rounds...er...books **Elaine, Nynaeve and Aviendha took a hundred pages just to get to the farmhouse! (agreed! I kept thinking something was going to happen on the next page.) **We spent the entire book waiting for someone to recognize Morgase **I suggest a relational database cross-referencing characters and events from one book to another **Jordan'$ writing $tyle ha$ $everely degenerated...<to> Path of Dollars (god, I laughed so hard at this one!) ** my book is missing 300 pages!

Common Reviewer Themes **...before I grow old and die **Wheel of Time or Waste of Time? **Where's Matt? Hanging out with Where's Waldo. **enough of Nynaeve tugging her braid **bored, boring or bore ** Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt ** ...600 pages of... ** ...waited 2 years for... **... thought Daughter of the Nine Moons and Matt...

It goes on and on. I know RJ will hear the "chorus of disappointment" and I hope it will positively impact his next book. I have to be brutally honest and say I don't look forward to rereading the series because I will have to endure book 8 again. That is if I decide to reread it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Awesome
Review: This book is totally, awesome! In fact that should read "kicks butt"!! Jordon does a wonderful job of furthering the characterization of Rand and the others. His book tends to reflect reality - sometimes we need to wait. I am expecting a well written book nine as well.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: RJ seems to be spinning his wheels
Review: It kinda seems as if RJ ran out of lunchmeat but decided to make a few sandiwiches anyway. I really enjoyed books 5 and 6, but I thought that aCoS was basically filler. Little did I know... I feel that if George R. R. Martin had gotten his second book out remotely on time that RJ would have already been dethroned as the King of SF fantasy. As it stands, I'm still hooked on Jordan's books, but one would have to admit that "A game of Thrones" was a LOT better than either of Jordan's last two efforts.
