Summary: Sheer disappointment
Review: As one who started reading this series of books 6 years ago, and one who has religeously waited with bated breath for each addition, all I want to express about PATH OF DAGGERS is frustration and disappointment. Robert Jordan has done a phenomenal job of stringing along his addicts with a book which accomplishes nothing and brings us no closer to the final battle. Except for Matt, who we never see, all characters are in a holding pattern; we see very little growth or action. Jordan has managed to take four chapters worth of information and describe them into a 500+ page volume large enough to put a cover on and put in the stores. Even worse, given Jordan's expeditious pace for writing these books, we will all have to wait, what, about three years for the next addition. For followers who have not read the THE PATH OF DAGGERS yet, read it because you have to. How could you not? However, don't anticipate enjoyment in what you find. For novices, start at the beginning of the series. It is a wonderful saga, and it would be a shame to loose you on the one book which is not worthy Jordan or his series.

Summary: Boring and unfulfilling
Review: Some people are saying that RJ is writing an epic but you must realize that an epic is quality not quantity. This book did nothing for me and after 2 of them I no longer feel the need to wait for #9,#10,... I would rather read the first four books in the series and let my imagination finish the story than waste my time with 7 & 8. It's been a couple of weeks since i finished the book and I can't remember the details anymore. The books I read are for my enjoyment this wasn't one of them.

Summary: Robert Jordan's Winning Streak Ends With #7
Review: Robert Jordan, one of today's best fantasy writers, has lost his first battle with his recent release of "The Path of Daggers". This current book lacks any of the colorful story telling of the previous seven books. The fact that he does not even include Matt should clue you into the incompleteness of this book.

Lets just hope that he will try and make up for this poor effort in the next book.

Summary: Enough Bickering !!!
Review: I waited years for this book to come out and even pre-ordered it. After I got it and read about half of it I had to keep forcing myself to read on. Now that Elayne and her crowd of Windfinders and Kin have reached Caemlyn I hope I dont' have to read another word about the kin bickering with the windfinders or the aes sedai disbelieving how old th kin are or looking down their noses at them or the kin bickering amongst themselves or the windfinders in a huff about the aes sedai or vice-versa or.....

It seems like Rand killed one of the Forsaken in Illian in just a few pages, and, rather easily if you ask me. Bang, you're dead. Yet, for seemingly hundreds of pages we are subjected to the endless torture of Elayne's crowd simply going from point a to point b.Btw, since he killed Sammeal with Balefire wouldn't that have some serious ripple effects ? Like, wouldn't Lord Brend have never existed at all ? Not to mention all of the other evil things he'd done in the world. How would the other Forsaken have turned out with one less of them that never existed in the first place ?

Anyway, the ending left me with a lot of hope for the next book. It appears that it will have a lot more action and a faster pace... please don't make us wait as long for the next book as we had to for this one.

Summary: Nothing happens
Review: Walking and talking. Talking and walking. Mostly talking actually. By far the most boring book in the series. And names, hundreds of them. And endless descriptions of nature, clothes, weather etc. If you haven't read this one yet, skip it. It will be like missing one episode in an endless soap opera. The only interesting character left in the series, Mat, is mentioned in two sentences.

Summary: Zero Stars!
Review: Here is the content summary: Nothing, followed by nothing followed by 2 pages of a set up scenes to make us buy the next book. Read the cover in the local library and assume you can safely wait for book 9.

Summary: A True Disappointment
Review: An awful book. Let's face it, the previous seven were not great fantasy literature, but they were addicting. Book 8 cured my addiction.

In fact, I plan on taking all of the previous books to a used book shop and selling the lot of them, I'm that frustrated. I won't buy another in the series.

Its one thing to rip off Dune and a host of other classics, but its another to grind your series to a halt in hopes of selling a few more books. Nothing happens. We learn nothing more about the major characters and a confusing set of new characters are introduced to slow the storyline down even more. Don't waste your money on this one, folks, even if you have read all of the previous seven.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Definitely not one of Robert Jordans best. It usually takes me under a week to read one of his book, this one took a month. I am a fan and would not have skipped this one but I should have waited for the soft cover version.

Summary: What was this garbage?
Review: After the first couple of books the series has been going downhill fast. This book certainly continues that trend and reaches all new depths. While reading, I kept waiting for literally anything to happen to either advance the plot, provide some interesting diversions, etc. The Path of Daggers did do one thing for me -- I'm now convinced never to buy or read another Robert Jordan book. But the reviews here have proven that RJ has enough of a cult following to keep producing trash and making a living at it.

Summary: Slow, too detailed, but I still couldn't put it down
Review: Just how many books does it take to tie up some loose ends? The Crown of Swords and The Path of Daggers together seemed to cover only about two weeks elapsed time in total and we still have a dog's breakfast of loose ends flapping about aimlessly. Having said that, Jordan's intricate storyline is still engrossing and his characters interact in the most finely-drawn fantasy world in fiction. I loved this and all its predecessors though the first few volumes were far better paced. My main fear is that too much cash and comfort may mean that he never actually finishes the series. At 2+ years per book and the snail's pace set for the last few volumes, RJ (and this reader) will be very old indeed before Mat meets the Daughter of the Nine Moons or Rand's love life is resolved or we discover if Moiraine is really gone forever or numerous other promised plot developments ever come to pass. Let's all hope that RJ keeps up the good work but gets a move on with the plot.
