Rating: Summary: A little dissapointing Review: I have been following this series for a long time now. The books until now have been very rewarding. Robert Jordan is totally amazing, his work is among the favorite books. However, Path of Daggers is dissapointing in comparison to the previous books in this series. This is not to say the book is bad. Well written and plenty of things to keep it interesting. However, the plot line seemed to be a little jumbled and lacking direction. My thought being that he tried to put too much in. There were so many things going on that none of it had time to go anywhere. The ending seemed to be rushed, and there were more questions then answered. I also agree that this is probably a calm before everything breaks out and goes insane. The next books promise to be very good. I look forward to them.
Rating: Summary: A really good book - but does it ever end ? Review: I really enjoyed this book. Like all books of the series, I was just tied to it and could just stop reading, when it was over - and I hardly realized that the story still hardly moved. But this was the case, and I gotta say: Mr. Jordan, to you want to tie us forever? I could hardly wait to get this book, but afterwards I gotta say that I'm not much smarter than before. Anyway, a very good book which I only can recommend to any Wheel of Time Fan, but in Paperback, because it isn't really worth about $25. So please, Mr. Jordan - let it go on, I can't stand this waiting any longer!!(That's the main reason why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars)
Rating: Summary: More of the same Review: This book could easily off balance my car, yet when I finished reading it I felt like I had just finished reading a Reader's Digest story. I don't know exactly how he does it, but Rober Jordan can take one novel and stretch it out to 1.2 million pages. Best to forget about this series until he finally finishes it, then buy all the paperbacks. Then you won't have to deal with "Wheel of Time Frustration Syndrome".
Rating: Summary: I feel cheated Review: This book was attrocious. I thought the first seven were great (well, the seventh was a little weak) but this was a waste of paper. The idea is supposedly that each book in a series can stand alone on it's own merit. Not this one. Read the jacket cover(interestingly enough more happens in the jacket cover description than in the actual book. What was up with that?) and wait for book 9.
Rating: Summary: Sagas rarely cater themselves to the vision- this one does Review: Unlike most mainstream authors, Robert Jordan can be considered in a league that other great writers would have followed if they were not so swayed by senseless polls and rating systems. One author who has lost the edge is Stephen King. Robert has chosen a hard path. He is actually explaining, in a militaristic, historical fashion, the true scope of such a campaign that the WoT should be and is holding true to this and rightfully so. Character development of this magnitude is for a reason. When a tragic series of events occur, and they are destined to do so, loyal readers who appreciate the indepth character development will feel vindicated and unfortunately, crushed when one or more members of the special group of questors perishes. I praise him for his discipline and brilliant writing. I cannot give any piece of work a perfect score. Why? we aren't perfect and our views are subjective.
Rating: Summary: Jordan is Brilliant. Review: The masterful artistry of Jordan is so involving you will never want to put it down. As one of the greatest writers of science fiction Robert Jordan has done it again. READ THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: This book is sweeet, the series is sweeet, i am hooked. MAT? Review: So what if Jordan lacked a teensy weensy bit in this book, I love the characters so much that I would read about them anytime. We all know Robert Jordan is not literature, so don't be so cynical, just see this book as lead up to something else. I have one complaint: this series is getting just a bit long. wait I have another: why did he forget Mat in this book?
Rating: Summary: great book, but when does it end? Review: I have read all of Robert Jordan's books. I have waited a long time for this book, but it was not as good as the rest. It only took me three days to read it, now I have to wait for book 9#. Please hurry Robert, for I CANNOT wait much longer
Rating: Summary: A plot builder book. Review: Many of the other reviews say "nothing" happend in this book. However, things did happen, but nothing was resolved...for once no forsaken was killed at the end of the book. The first 6 books got better with each book. When I read book 7 the first time I thought it wasn't nearly as good, but after reading it the 2nd time I appreciated it 100% more. People complain there are too many plot strings..well a good reader "digs" in and examines them..remeber a "good reader makes a good book". However, I hope book nine resolves many of these issues and if it doesn't, makes them continue in a fascinating way. I would like the series to the end before it gets too thinned out, because at unless there are some more major hooks (which i'm sure there will be!) the last book will be a disappointment.
Rating: Summary: This is an unbelievably bad book Review: Let's face it, this series is dead, let's put a bullet in it. I have been a loyal Wheel of Time reader for close to 7 years now and all I can say is that it really does seem as if this author is writing just to make money now. There is no doubt in my mind that the last 2 books could have been combined as so little happens in each book. That would be bad enough but it also seems as if the characters are becoming very two dimensional. Try to figure out who I am describing, she is petty, vain and in competition with every woman in the book. That's right, you guessed it, I have described every female character in the last book. It makes me so angry that I can't write because I'm too busy putting my fists on my hips! This book is a sad testimony to money driven publishing, I feel like I wasted part of my life by reading it.
