Summary: 'Beverly Hills 90210' meets 'Little House on the Prairie'!
Review: A shame. As epic fantasy goes, RJ creates a great world in the first few books. In books 7 & 8 he does, well ... nothing. Nothing at all has happened in the last two books. Compare the earlier books with 'Lan' and 'fierce Aiel' to the current books with ... knitting circles ? Does it read like the same author ? No. If you are unsure, don't buy, read the first 6 books and maybe the 9th.

Summary: nought
Review: What is there to say? i waited 2 years for a book that has no story. As far as i can see it nothing happened at all in this book. what a waste of paper and money.

Summary: Very dissapointed but this book was meant to set up the plan
Review: OK look everyone this book is pretty dissapointing. Whoever gave it five stars are hippocrats. Nothing change!!! Wheres Mat? The only thing new is more problems!! Theres a lot of problems right now. And Jordan is in a pit. The series look like they're gonna last for a while. I found when I was reading the "Eye of the World" I was always like suck into the book like on my guard to see new stuff. Such as the blight, Green Man and etc. You see after the Ashaman it got kinda boring. I really had a big expectation for this book instead I got a really big dissapointment. I could have waited a while longer. But this book dosen't live up to its title. I guess this book was to set up all the plots. So lots of action for the next book. But too many problems. We got to focuse on too many places now. Like 5 different places. I know Jordan wants to make the process to the Final Battle look good but you can't just change so much. Such as Rand & Perrins sniffing and etc. E-mail me if ur a wheel of time fan. I got a lot more to say but until then we'll have to wait for the 9th book.

Summary: Jordan does it again
Review: Once again Jordan throws a good twist into the story.. a real page turner.. Missed alot of sleep reading this one.. The saga of Rand and his compatriots continues as the Seanchan arrive..

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Pretty pictures but not alot of Substance
Review: As most of the rest of you, I waited with great anticipation for this book. Then was rather disapointed that so little happened. Where was Mat? Or Lan and Nynaeve, you would think with the ability to travel and a safety zone in camp that they would be bonded by now? Why did Mr. Jordan have to wait for the last several chapters for everything to findly start happening? All in all I enjoy his writing. I only hope that # 9 is more like 1, 2, and 3.

Summary: Great but not impressive
Review: I thought that this was a very well-written book, with quite a few good and interesting scenes. I know that it is leading up to the next one, but I still feel that i've been gypped somehow. Half of the stuff on the synopsis on the cover of the book doesn't even happen. It was well written, but not worth two years. Plus, the first 100 pages or so seemed to just have been ripped from the end of book seven. I had to give it 5 stars because it is wheel of time, but it really doesn't deserve it. Also, for those who complain that Mat wasn't in it, remember books 5&6. Perrin wasn't in one, and he was in only a couple chapters of another. What I was wondering is where are the Aiel? They are supposed to be broken until but a fragment of a fragment is left, so why not break them on the Seanchan. Hundreds of Thousands of Aiel vs. Hundreds of Thousands of Seanchan would be cool. Also, not enough of Taim and Logain, and too many new forsaken and such being introduced without being developed {not necessarily a bad thing}. I do believe, however, that Mat needs to find the daughter of the nine moons, which i bet he will in book 10, and that Rand and Egwene need to meet again, finally. One last thing -- Rand was thinking of challenging the creator to rid the Power of the Taint. is he litteraly going to go and challenge the creator, or is going to do something a little less drastic, and if he is going to challenge the creator, how is he going to do it?

Summary: A much needed break in the action.
Review: Unlike many I thought this book was a fitting eighth book in the series. It has further developed the characters of Nyneave and Egwene and allowed their adventures to catch up with Rand's. Further I believe that Rand had to slow down since he has done so much so fast. This book slows down the pace while still setting up further action. Although I do miss Mat I believe that the next book will have Mat as one of the main focuses as he will inevitably have to meet the daughter of the nine moons (the Seanchan Emperess).

Summary: Don't be fooled by the average!!!!!
Review: As I write this, the average number of starts for PoD is 3.5, which is misleading. The vast majority of recent reviews have been 1 star. The only reason the average is that high is the fact that all the fans started giving 5 star reviews before the book even came out (in anticipation I guess). Don't be fooled folks. The book only deserves 1 star. RJ, you are losing your touch. Perhaps talent is lost with age?

Summary: Enjoyable, yet starting to be like a Dickens book - TOO MUCH
Review: While the book was thoroughly enjoyable in the continuing epic of the Wheel of Time, Jordan opens many doors and continues to open doors without first resolving some of the early conflicts. The leaping and bounding around the various groups in the world is starting to become over whelming, cumbersome, and uninteresting. Jordan had best unite some of those side plots into one soon or the reader's gonna be "lost in space"... Who's the main character again? *grin* Come on Jordan... get with the program! Don't have to end it - but consolodate some of those plots! We want to focus on the ta'verens...

My 2 cents, -Cal

Summary: Perhaps for the wait, we could have had a bit more content?
Review: I felt that, given the wait that was required for this book (I mean, the release date was pushed back twice, if I remember correctly), the book was firstly too short (600 pages, where the others were on average between 100 and 400 pages more than that). Secondly, it didn't seem to have the same depth that the others had. As somebody I talked to about it said, "It just seemed like a really long short story with too many details." I can see what she meant when she said it.

But on the other hand, I was quite pleased with some of the things that happened in the book. The plot, though there weren't very many plot changes, did seem to make some extreme advances in the areas it focused on. I was very happy to see that Perrin was included in much more detail in this book, however, Mat Cauthon was not followed once in this entire book. I was actually wondering whether Rand was going to have any of the book focus on him for the first third to half of the book.

On the whole, I was very excited to get a hold of this book. I was also very happy to read it, and despite some of the situations I find lacking with it, I was very happy to have finished reading it. I think that this book is overall a very good one, and I am extremely depressed because I will have to wait yet again for the ninth book.
