Rating: Summary: The ultimate SF-novel Review: Reading this book almost 14 years ago I still remember the hours I spent with Paul and the sandworms as it had been only yesterday. Dune is the proof how difficult it is to make a movie out of a book. The movie itself was - in one word - "rubbish"
Rating: Summary: The best science fiction book ever written !!! Review: Dune , The majestic monument of Science Fiction. This book was the best book ever written ! Dune is more than just a novel its a creation!!! Frank herbert is the most creative and unbelivable author ever!!!!!!!

Rating: Summary: A timeless work of Science Fiction. Review: In his time, Frank Herbert delievered some of the most exciting, imaginative Science Fiction available. His vision of the universe gave new demension to the concept of time and space.
His detailed, in depth, development of characters and scenery created an instant reference of believability for the reader. The sequels seem to pale in comparison
to this unique and epic tale of one young man's unwilling journey to dominate an entire universe.
Dune will long stand as an icon of Science Fiction literature. An accomplishment well worthy of emulation.
Rating: Summary: Don't stop on this book!! Review: Frank Herbert created the most original and entertaining science fiction books ever. This book is pure gold! But don't just read it and say "Wow, that was a great book!". KEEP GOING! The books of the Dune Chronicles continue where the Dune ends. Dune is just the beginning foundation. The Dune Chronicles are certainally some of the greatest books of all time!!
Rating: Summary: Quite possibly the best book ever written. Review: Frank Herbert takes you on a voyage of discovery that is unparrelled. His explorations of politics and religion are enlightening. Anyone would thoroughly enjoy this wonderful book
Rating: Summary: One spectacular trip through an impossibly detailed world. Review: Scene: Arrakis. A 100% desert planet. Sandstorms that will disintigrate metal as if it were butter. Baking sun that no one in their right mind goes out into. There are only two reasons for people to live there: some can't get off the planet, but a noble class also exists to control the production of melange -- the addictive and very popular drug only producible on the planet. Now, the Evil Baron Harkonnen has just been shoved out by the Emperor and replaced with his nemesis the Duke Leto. Throw in some very dangerous natives, a bunch of treachery, some extreme local color, and a war. Ta-da! It's Dune. A truly awe-inspiring look at a very unique world
Rating: Summary: A should-be Great American Novel Review: DUNE, by the author Frank Herbert, is a book that must
be read by any sci-fi enthusiast, be it from the largest "Trekkie" to the casual dreamer, and all those in between. DUNE follows the story of young Paul Atreides, later to be
named Muad'Dib, and his royal family on the desert planet Arrakis.
Herbert dives into the depths of the human soul with illustrations of the future
and the accuracy of the human mind when trained correctly.
I myself have read the book numerous times and it has changed my lifestyle. I am more aware of my surroundings, taking after the famed " Bene Gesserit Witches ", and I snap my head up at the mention of water. In any case, DUNE is a book to read, even for those who despise Science Fiction.
Rating: Summary: Dune is the archetypal science fiction novel Review: The background against which Herbert sets "Dune" is Humankind's struggle for survival. Against this curtain he examines such issues as the dynamics of religion and politics especially when the two collide in the body of a messiah, Paul Muad' Dib Atreides. Herbert also created a rich environment in which he could explore questions that faced society at the time he was writing the novel. The characters in "Dune" are incredibly dynamic and engaging. While readers may not like the old Baron Harkonnen,
they will have a complete understanding of who he is and what his motivations are. Paul, Leto, Jessica, Gurney, and Stilgar are characters easy to identify with and readers will find themselves living the the story through those characters.
"Dune" is a convoulted story with many twists and turns or as Herbert would say: "it is a feint in a feint in a feint and so on into infinty". This
book will bear re-reading a thousand times as the reader finds something missed in the time before. This book is a must for the serious science fiction reader.
Rating: Summary: perfect Review: I will be short : This is the only book that deserves a 1
Rating: Summary: One of the finest sc-fi novels I have ever read Review: Dune, a magnificent chronicle of a planet , it's people , and the struggle for power.
Frank Herbert has taken a basic concept , the will to survive , and has woven a tale that appeals to every aspect
of why people read science fiction. Dune , the first in a series of six novels, sets the groundwork for a timeless tale.
Herbert's research into ecology adds depth and realism to an already fascinating story. The book grabs you from line one,
and takes you on a breathless ride into the world of Dune. From 1,000 foot SandWorms that stalk the desert , to the quest of
the Bene Gessrit to find the ultimate human , the action is non-stop. The imagery presented in the writing of this novel can
only be expierenced first hand. Come visit Dune , and see why Frank Herbert's work is considered one of the finest creations in
the history of science fiction
