Rating: Summary: Great book whether you've played the game or not Review: The story is very interesting, detailed, and engaging whether you've played the Xbox game or not. If you've played the game this book really helps to flesh out the world you experienced in the game. It's not your typical video game based book, it actually has some substance.
Rating: Summary: Wow, a nice surprise. Review: Any game to movie or movie to game conversion usually turns out pretty undesirable, so I was a little sceptical on how a game to novel would turn out. Fall of reach being the first game to novel I've read, I was in for a pleasant surprise. For anyone who played the game, this is a nice introduction to where master chief came from that leads right up to the begining of the game. Its worth reading if only just for backround information on master chief, highly recomended to the halo game fans.
Rating: Summary: Prequel to "The Flood", "The Fall of Reach" delivers Review: "The Fall of Reach", in short, is one-no. "The Fall of Reach" is the best book with a videogame tie ever. Nylund gets you hooked from the start, and keeps you going 'til the very end. What is "The Fall of Reach" about? Well, it's about a group of kids who are turned into super soliers, thanks to scientists and the Navy. It's the prequel to the game "Halo: Combat Evolved", and now a prequel to the book based on the game "Halo: The Flood"(i gave it four stars). You don't need to be a fan of the game to enjoy this book, you just need to be someone who can read. What this book offers is it's best part. It gives you the history of the Master Chief(halo's protagonist), and how he became what he is (as Silva would say in "The Flood", and augumented freak"). It shows you how the Covenent, an alien force trying to destroy all human colonies, started their attacks. I've read the book about five times. Maybe more. I dunno, i lost count. This book is an amazing book that ages 12-19 would like. It's a good book, so my final advise is simply: buy it.
Rating: Summary: halo rocks Review: I've played the game and i love it.then i read the book and it's even better.
Rating: Summary: great Review: it was great it gave me a lot of extra information i wanted after playing the game
Rating: Summary: AN AWESOME BOOK for casual or hardcore readers! Review: Whether or not you are a fan of the XBOX videogame Halo, you have to admit that it features a very good sci-fi story. This book describes the events that lead up to the game's begginning. One of the things that makes this book so great is that it features all the detail and quality of other books, but for some reason it is an incredibly easy read. I'm not saying that this book uses simple terms and simple sentences to get across its points; it's just that the text seems to flow off the pages and into your mind as soon as you pick the book up. Another thing that makes this book a surperb one is that it's always interesting. It's filled with action that is described in so much straight to the point detail (which makes the action seem like it's going by realistically fast) that you will feel like your actually there fighting alongside the Spartans. And even during the parts where there is no action for a little while, you will still be interested by the well written dialogue. Casual readers can expect a book that will actually entertain them as much as any other medium (if not more) and hardcore readers should expect a treat that they can finish in a day or so. The game is an excellent one, and if you are interested in this book, I'd recommend picking it up. But now that the second book in this series, Halo: The Flood, is available, you won't need the game to continue the great story because Halo: The Flood describes all the events that take place during the videogame (plus a little extra). If you like to read then BUY THIS BOOK! If you aren't much of a reader but want to find a book that will actually interest you then BUY THIS BOOK! If you like the XBOX videogame Halo then BUY THIS BOOK! ***If you do buy this book you should definately buy Halo: The Flood also. Since they both offer hours of entertainment for a low, low price you really can't lose.***
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: I loved this book. It pretty much sums up all of the inportant parts of the game. I thought it was perfection. With all the action, backround, and story of the game, I know alot of the world of Halo. If the second book is so much better in the eyes of the other reviewers, I cant wait to read it.
Rating: Summary: Bad Title, Good Book Review: The book shouldn't be called The Fall of Reach, because that happens at the end of the book. It deals mainly with the development of the SPARTAN-II subjects from day one and the various events leading up to the X-Box game. Otherwise very enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Everything you ever wanted to know! Review: If you're a fan of the game you have to read this book.
Rating: Summary: How it all began Review: You may or may not have played the game, but either way this is the story that preludes it all. This book covers most of the life of a few unique individuals, the Master Chief and his fellow Spartans. This book follows much of the development of the Spartan program and the fight against the Covenant. Yes, this is the book where you meet such characters as Cortana and Keyes, but you meet others such as Dr. Halsey, the founder of the Spartan program. This book covers much of what the normal Halo player does not know and it gives great insight into the life of the Master Chief, the character you are in the Halo game. This is just a great book. Although I preferred the Halo book I think this is right about there with it. So read this one first to get the intro, then read the book and if you haven't played the game already, do that. Even if you're not a Halo fan now, you probably will be, or you'll just enjoy this as being a good sci-fi action book.
