Rating: Summary: Exciting and fast paced action Review: Halo: The Fall of Reach is a great book. I had kidded with my friends about reading this book for a few years and finally the temptation got to me and I bought it. I am thouroughly pleased with myself in this decision. I loved reading every bit of this book. It is fast paced but it has enough detail to create the scene and characters but not too much to weigh it down. And then, there's the action. I loved the way he described the massive space battles, ground battles, the new covenant races, and the idea of slipspace. He adds enough imformation and new technology to make it feel like its way in the future but explains it so some one from our time and understand it. I gave this book five stars because it is exciting and I couldn't put it down (literally, I read it during school in my classes and every once in a while some of them would ask me what the MC and Cortana were up to now and I would enjoy updating them on this exploit that had occured before Halo the game) but it is not on par with other sci-fi fantasy like Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, or Dune it is only a fun book to read. I'm right now almost done with the third book in this series which so far is better than the first in my opinion and has me really excited as to what the MC and Cortana are up to next.P.S. I am a senior in Highschool and about to graduate. I guess I'll never grow up.

I bought all three, and they really tell you more about the Halo universe. They are SO good it took me one days to read each book, because they were so good. in other words... BUY ALL THREE N-O-W!
Rating: Summary: Could be a great book if some editing was done to it. Review: I was questioning reading this or not. I had just finished Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six when I picked up The Fall of Reach, and must say I'm impressed. There's plenty of action and suspense to keep even the biggest skeptic on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately there's some problems with the book that really keep me from enjoying this the way it should be enjoyed First and formost editing in this book is horrific. There's typos all over the place, and for me to pick up on typos and gramatical errors is pretty big! The UNSC becomes the USNC many times throughout the book, John goes from being a Petty Officer to Master Cheif to Petty Officer again within three paragraphs, sentence fragments are repeated several times within the same sentence breaking the sentence flow. These might seem small, but there's so many in the first half of the book to really cause an annoyance. Secondly, there's WAY too many holes left. A lot is written about in the book that never comes to a conclusiona nd you're left questioning what happened and what the purpose was for this story And lastly, there's little to no character development. Names come up, but in the end that's all they are are names. You never get emotionally attatched to anyone in the book, simply for the fact that they're too shallow of a character to grasp a hold of, even John, the main character. This book is for true Halo fans, and for those that can look past the flaws mentioned above. Like I said before, there's plenty of action and suspense, but with such numerous flaws I can only rate this book as subpar.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This book was great the story line was phenominal i recommend it to any one.
Rating: Summary: Ryan's review Review: This is the best book i have ever read. It has hundreds of pages full of combat and excitment. It is based opon a video game called Halo combat evolved. This particular book is before the game which is more interesting because it shows what happend and how they got to where they are in the game. I have read this book countless times and still enjoy it. Each time i find something new that I didn't catch before. All in all, it is definatly a MUST BUY book.
Rating: Summary: It was okay. . . Review: The Fall of Reach wasn't bad, though it also wasn't outstanding. I say this mostly because of some deviations from the original story, which would make one dubious of Nylund having ever actually playing the game at any length. The descriptions of combat were exelent, but other parts were a little sloppy (i.e. redundent or conflicting statments). All things considered it is still worth reading though.
Rating: Summary: A mUst reAd! Review: A year ago, before i even played an x-box, let alone heard of Halo: CE, i read this book. I loved it! i bought an xbox and halo around january, love the game, and recently bought all three Halo books. Now i can tell you that i loved the book before i knew of Halo, and loved the book after i played Halo. If you are a sci fi reader, read this book. If you play Halo, it will answer so many things and give you a new look on the game. Try It!
Rating: Summary: A must read for Halo fans Review: A good read on its own, but awesome if you love the game. I've read this twice and loved it both times.
Rating: Summary: Dude, this book is Awsome! Review: Halo the Fall of Reach was one of the best books I have ever read. It is very well written, and has a great storyline that connects perfectly with the game. If you haven't read this book, you are missing out on life. And when your done with this book, get Halo: First Strike, also by Eric Nylund, who is a great author.
