Summary: Awesome book
Review: This book is awesome though there is a bit of cussing and a lot of fighting (I like the fights)

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great book even if you don't play the game
Review: As many people have said, most books of this type (based on a game) seem to be quickly written and rather unexciting. This book is the exception to the rule. I was rather apprehensive going into this book but found myself hooked very quickly. From the training of the new breed of 'supersoldiers' to the fantastic space and ground battles this book never slows down. The characters are wonderfully well developed, the action is intense and exciting (loved the battle for Sigma Octanus), and the book as a whole is perfectly paced (you'll never say 'it was good, but slowed down a bit in the middle'). If you are planning on playing the game (I'm halfway through it myself) this book is a must read. Even if you don't plan on playing Halo but are a fan of military sci-fi action this book will satisfy. I will also be seeking out Nylunds other novels.

Summary: Great Buy, Great read.
Review: I was excited to get Xbox's HALO, so when I heard about the book it sounded great. Let me just say, Wow, What a great setup for playing the game, In my opinion it enhances the Game play more then if you to not read the book. The Authur does a great job keeping you glued in, you won't be able to put it down. Read this book, I swear you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Great Sci-Fi novel,
Review: I read this as soon as I could get my hands upon it and let me tell you that it was not in the least a letdown. I loved the book from start to finish and now know a lot deeper into the story of Halo. The book starts out with Dr. who started the whole Spartan project looking for candidates into the program for the soldier that is seen in Halo. The story progresses focusing on the boy who would grow up into the Master Chief [I don't want to give anything away] But, as the covenant begins to close in the story escalates to a large battle between the human and covenant that ends where Halo begins. So this is a great book if you wish to delve deeper into the story behind Halo and why it is one of the most innovative storylines in the gaming industry as well as the best game for Xbox. Enjoy!

Summary: Great read for either Halo or general Sci-fi fans
Review: Being excited about Halo on the Xbox, I had to pick this book up to get a little more background information on the game. Most books based on games are usually poorly written or just altogether bland. Not so with this book. From the prologue to the final pages I was never bored. Fans of the Ender series or Heinlein's Starship Troopers will really enjoy this book. Bungie and Microsoft made a wise choice by publishing a sequel to the upcoming game, and Eric Nylund did an amazing job of making it all come to life. After finishing this book, I know playing Halo will be a much more enjoyable experience.

Summary: geeks of the world, unite!
Review: okay - the story is great, the characters are believable and all that good stuff.
BUT - reading this book makes me feel like it was rushed to market. This does nothing to stop it from being a great read, but it's annoying to pick out a spelling or grammar error in the middle of an immersive battle scene.
Personaly, I think the book needs a proof-read and re-release...but I doubt that's going to happen.
Regardless, I recommend reading this.

Summary: Sets the Stage for the Game
Review: This book has sucked me in, I can't put it down. If the thought of the game entices you, you should read this book to give you the more complete sensation when playing the game.

The book tells of how the SPARTANS were picked, trained, and "augmented," as well as their missions BEFORE getting to Halo.

Summary: Halo:The Fall Of Reach
Review: Personaly, I haven't realy read the Book ,but I know a lot of people how have ,and all of them agree in one thing, this Book is great.
If your thinking on buyng this Book , then you probably have already heard about the Xbox's Killer app ,Halo.
This book does not tell the story of Halo, its a prequel to the events pasted on the game, so its spoler free, and sets the mood for the game.

So what are you waiting for?Go buy it ,GO GO GO.

Summary: Everyone Stap on your seatbelts!
Review: This book starts off with a bang and doesn't let up. It's got many elements of traditional Sci Fi such as Card's Enders Game and Aliens. While I was leary on a book based on a game at first, I was considerably excited about the game and thought this would be a great introduction. MS and Bungie should be complimented for this fantastic idea of releasing a Novel (Prologue) to the game before it's released. It gives you a good deal of background information and all the events leading up to the moment that the Master Chief, one of the remaining super-soldiers called Spartans, arrives on Halo. Which is obviously where we come in with the game. The choice of Eric Nylund as writer was also wise on MS's and Bungie's part. Nylund is an accomplished Sci Fi Author and defenitely has some legs to write with here. He hooks you in early on in the book and just keeps you with the story the entire time. If your anywhere at all interested in getting Halo for the XBox, you should REALLY look into getting this.

Summary: An adaptation which does not suck.
Review: Most cross-media tie-ins are disastrous--just look at all of the videogames based on movies that are absolutely horrible, or at the very least, completely disappointing.

Not so with Eric Nylund's Halo books. The developers at Bungie did an amazing job on what could have been just another plotless shoot-em-up, showing creativity of design, atmosphere, and character, but they couldn't jam all the backstory into the opening of the game. Nylund fills in the holes very deftly. While there are elements of sci-fi pillars like Heinlein's Starship Troopers and Card's Ender's Game, Nylund still manages to craft nuance into the building-a-soldier formula.

While there are some annoying typos and continuity gaffes (two junior-grade lieutenants stand and salute a non-commissioned officer, for one) the books stand out from the cross-media dreck we're usually stuck with. They are easily good enough to stand on their own without the game itself.

If you like Halo, order these immediately.

If you like military sci-fi, ditto.

If not, order them anyway. You may just be surprised at what you find.
