Summary: Halo Book
Review: This is the best Si-Fi book i've ever read! I like this book because it is based on Halo for the Xbox.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: mixed hash of other stuff
Review: Okay...I'm going to try to be as nice about this as I can. I am a fan of the x-box game (as is my little brother) and I actually got him this book to try to get him into reading.

Now, this book is a fun (and short) read. Space battles, cool aliens, and all the other trappings of a space opera. But it's not nearly original in the least bit.

Bits and pieces of this book were stolen from several of the most powerful sf war novels out there. Much (if not most) of the discussion of the Spartan II's is taken straight from Ender's Game, and I'll be the first to say that Card does a much better job at handling the ethics of raising children to become soldiers. The rest of it is ripped from Starship Troopers, but once again, Nylund's war philosophy limps meagerly behind Heinlein's masterpiece.

Unless you are a big fan of the x-box (and soon to be PC) game, there is absolutely no reason for you to read this book. The only reason to read it is if you want some background to the world in which the game is based. For that, it's splendid. Otherwise, it's a waste of time.

Summary: Good book based off a game
Review: When I saw this book come out I thought it was going to be bad. I have read books based off of other video games and most of them were a waste of a tree. The games themselves were good, just they didn't translate very well to a print format, or the author didn't have a clue as to the games feel or just couldn't write. This one is different. Actual plot and characters that weren't 2-D. Very well written and a must read if you like HALO for X-Box.

Summary: Superb excellent best book ever read
Review: This is great if you are a fan of halo then get this book. It has so much as to the the history of the SPARTAN-IIs. So much action I love this book.

Summary: Much better than the game.
Review: I got this book basically because I was extremely bored and needed something simple to read. I came across Halo and decided to give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. I hated the game and I really wasn't sure how the book would turn out. Basically, its the prequel to the game version. You'll learn the whole story of how the Spartan soldiers first emerged and what they faced. The overall elements used to make this story up have all been seen and read before. Nonetheless, the author managed to write a very entertaining story that was fairly descriptive of the futuristic worlds of humanity. This is one that many of you could probably finish in a day or two, like I did, but its still worth the buy. So check this one out. Whether you liked the X-box game or not, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Clarifies a few things...
Review: The game is 1000% more enjoyable once you've read the book. I played the game and beat it several times before I even knew about the book. When browsing the shelves of GameStop I found The Fall of Reach and had to have it. Even if just for the sake of having it.

I got around to reading it a few days after and I couldn't put it down. The writing style was a bit childish compared to what I'm used to, but a great story nonetheless. Nylund's only job was to add flesh and muscle to an already created skeleton (a la bungie).

Then, when you go back and play the game, you're going to go "Ohhh... so that's what it meant... I seee...." It's worth the 7 bucks. Buy this book now.

Summary: Absolutly Brilliant
Review: This book is beyond the expectations of all book critics. Eric Nylund shows the reader an amazing sense of what sci-fi is all about!!! Eric tells the reader "behind the scene" info on the most popular and raving X-Box game; Halo. I got so sucked into the book it took only a day to read. I look forward to Eric writing the tale of the game Halo and an epologue also !!! An amazing sci-fi thriller that will keep you tuned into the book even if ure favorite TV Show is on !!!

Summary: An Excellent Prequel to an Excellent Game
Review: The Fall of Reach is the excellent prequel to Halo the video game. It's an entertaining book covering all of the events up until the crash landing on Halo which occurs at the beginning of the video game. It follows the development of the Spartan soldiers, including the Master Chief.

The book is written vary well and is extremely entertaining from the beginning to the end. I read it in two days, barely being able to put it down to go to sleep. Even if you're not a fan of the game, you'll be a fan of the book.

The only down part to the story is that it makes the Master Chief in the game look a little less talented then he really is in the book. I also felt that the author was a little constricted in what he was able to write about due to storyline restrictions put upon him by Bungie (you can't really point any out, but you can tell that they're there).

In the end, it gives you a very good idea about the entire game. Many aspects in the book will most likely be brought up in future Halo games, so it may be a bit of a spoiler for some. Overall, I really did like the book, and if you're into Halo, you should easily be into this book.

Summary: AWESOME BOOK
Review: I'm a huge Halo fan, but I don't have the game, so I had to get the book. I didn't really expect it to be great, but I was wrong. It was one of the best books I've ever read, and I have read a lot of really good books. It lets you get to know the characters in the game, and a lot that aren't in the game. It also gives a new hatred for the Covenant, and shows why you fight them. If you are a Halo fan, GET THIS BOOK!!

Summary: unique plot
Review: Eric Nylund's "The Fall of Reach" was well-written novel with great characters. Although the plot was good, i think this novel failed to address the emotional side of the Spartans and other key characters. This could be due to the fact that the Spartans aren't capable of having too much emotion. Some of the terminology used was also a little confusing (partly due to the fact that it was my first true sci-fic novel.)Yet overall i enjoyed the change.
