Summary: double wow
Review: This book was extremely good. Ill say that yes you cant compare it to the other RR author's book.. but what book can? It is a VERY good book and i think that if you read fantasy and enjoy Jordan, Wells, Stackpole, Salvatore. You will love this one.

Summary: Give me more
Review: The promising beginning of the saga stands as an example of how to weave stories of complexity. It is clearly not designed for younger readers and those without patience. It is not the kind of book where action flows with great swiftness, but every word is there for a reason. It has everything I like: intrigues, devious politics, mysteries plus an eerie, almost Lovecraftian touch. A must-read for more demanding readers.

Summary: Throw this book out the window into a steaming volcano
Review: There is only one author with a double R in his name which writes fantasy so well. And George R. R. Martin is not this AUTHOR! By all means stay away from this book. If you so choose to read this be warned that this book is not for the young. Many reasons point to that. To many to explain. The worst part about this is that every chapter there seems to be a new character. Then you never see the old characters again. There was only one character I liked and he never got the light on him. Terrible!

Summary: WOW
Review: This book involves you from start to finish, with the tense prologue to the gripping chapters I could not put it down. You feel the blows of the characters and scream for justice and revenge alike. You pray to the Gods, old and new, and will your heroes to pull through. You see the horror of war, the subtlety of treason and the rashness of anger.

Summary: An Epic Series Unfolds
Review: A truly expansive start to a series. I can't wait for the next book. The storyline is complex and intriguing with many threads, so less mature readers may find it difficult to follow. Those who love this genre will find it near impossible to put down. Character development is vivid and Mr. Martin is not afraid to do the unexpected. Be careful in you attachement to the characters, you never know what might happen to them!

Summary: A good start...
Review: The story was good enough to leave me wanting more! Even though it is a long book and Martin plans for several more books in the storyline, there are enough subplots to keep one interested. Needs a bit of editorial work, though, but not so much that it detracts from the high quality of the book. This is a book for someone with patience, because it is not an "easy" read by any means!

Summary: A Classic!
Review: I first read Martin's A Game of Thrones when it was released in hardcover about 3 years ago. I felt compelled to add my opinion to the voices. Simply put, this novel is a Classic. It doesn't matter if you don't read fantasy, you'll love this book. It's synonymous with reading any classic- just because you don't read adventure novels, you'll still read Tom Sawyer or Moby Dick. Read this novel, and read the sequel A Clash of Kings. That's the bottom line...

Summary: OMG!
Review: Maybe I am too young to read this and cannot acknowledge George R. R. Martin's style of writing others can. I find this book very disorganized and hard to follow. I had to refer to the back of the book several times. Each of the chapters are well written, but he changes the subject just as everything is about to get exciting! He could at least have TWO CHAPTERS on the same person! But no, he just has to keep changing and changing and changing. I absolutely abhor it! It's like getting someone excited only to turn them down at the end. I didn't even bother skimming the book to read the end. There are so many characters and each have their own chapter. This book is like putting numerous stories together! What the other reviewers see in this book I don't know. If you decide to buy this book, brace yourself. For the disgusting parts, the disorganization and switching of stories.

Summary: A work for the ages.
Review: I read this book with only the expectation that it keep me from boredom at work. I was seriously shocked when I found that I could not out it down even hours after I came home. It is simply incredible. the character development, especially of Jon Snow and Daeneryes, was superb. The book was well thought out, strongly written, and at no time did I lose interest. The background for the story is deftly woven into the narrative so that no excess time is taken, and confusion over the past of the characters never rears it's ugly head. Fans of sword and sorcery or high fantasy novels should give this book a serious try.

Summary: A good book with flaws
Review: First off this is a very good book. The characters are well written and there are some intresting plot twists. I like every thing about the book and would have given it a higher review if it wasn't for its two flaws. First I think the book needs some editing. Not much but a bit. Secondly I think it does somewhat of a poor job helping you keep track of all the players through out the story. The problem is only there in the start, after a while you just pick up on who's, who. But a great book should be easly accessable from the start to finish. Really those are my only beefs I recomend it to a fantasy buff (not a person looking for a lot of wizards). Over all though the 2 flaws shouldnt be enough to keep anyone from reading it, so enjoy
