Summary: High adventure and wild action
Review: Another enjoyable entry in a very enjoyable series. This one was a more straight-forward action story than the first four. Kane, Grant and Brigid investigate an abandoned space station and meet a group of human "transadapts" led by a wonderfully nasty dwarf named Sindri. Like the other villains in the series (Lord Strongbow, Col. Thrush, etc.), Sindri is very well developed and not just another straw man adversary to be fought and killed. And the "real" story behind the Mars Pathfinder mission is a kick! What I enjoy most about Outlanders are the main characters who are tough, intelligent and have senses of humor. I like them and look forward to reading about them. It would be a mistake for readers to pass up Outlanders because they think it's a copy of its sister series, Deathlands. The two series have a connection but you don't have to be familiar with one to enjoy the other. The author keeps the reader guessing. Each book is different from the others without the predictability which bogged down Deathlands until recently. Outlanders combineds the best elements of Indiana Jones, X-Files and Lethal Weapon to make it the best action-adventure series on the market today. If I was a movie producer, I'd be making a movie based on this series.

Summary: One cool and fun read
Review: I was one of those people prejudiced against Outlanders, thinking it was just a rip-off od Deathlands. Well my thinking got straight after I read Parallax Red. This is only one I read so far and I could kick myself for passing up the others.It has a lot of cool action and the heros are interesting and it's really nothing like Deathlands. I loved the bad guy, Sindri and esepcially all the stuff about Mars.I'll be a fan from now on.

Review: Outlanders just plain stinks. The characters are almost exactly the same as the Deathlands group, Axler has only shuffled them up a bit. Now instead of jumping around the old U.S., they jump around the world. Wow! That's so exciting... Axler also relies on the Deathlands series to keep Outlanders interesting by constantly refering to the Deathlands characters, albeit in a round-a-bout way. And the aliens! Stop watching the X-Files and get back to writing good adventure stories, James! However, the really unfortunate thing anout the Outlanders series is that it is now affecting the Deathlands series, as seen in The Mars Arena, which was an outstanding book, but James, we really don't care about your silly four barons. I began reading Deathlands at the age of twelve and have continued reading for the sheer pleasure and excitement offerd by Cawdor, Dix, and their merry band. Their adventures and experiences have been mine as well, I never cared where they went, i! t was the getting there that was the excitement in Deathlands. Outlanders, from what I have read, has corrupted that, just enough, so that Deathlands isn't as interesting anymore. At least not when you know that bug eyed aliens await. Give it up James, the money isn't everything.

Summary: Blowed up good
Review: Parallax Red, like the other books in this series has plenty of stuff being "blowed up real good." This is a fast-moving, action-packed story. It's a lot of fun and we learn more about the pasts of our heroes. I was glad Axler left the bad guy, Sindri, alive at the end of the book. I couldn't help but like him and hope he comes back.

Summary: WAY Outlands!
Review: This is the third audio book of the Outlanders series to which I have listened. It was also the best. In each of the other books, the heroes kicked a** and the story went on. This time little guys were the big shots. In the end our heroes won out over the bad guys but you had to stop and remind yourself who the good guys were. After all the bad guys had far more self control and appeared more honest than our heroes. I hated having the spacestation blow up though, I would have been happier with that avenue left for exploring.

Summary: My first, but not last
Review: Though I've read several Deathlands, this is the first in Axler's Outlanders series I read, and it won't be the last. It was a lot of fun, full of action and great characters, particularly the villain, Sindri. The "truth" behind the Mars Pathfinder mission was a hoot! I reccommend this book to anyone who likes action-adventure.
