Rating: Summary: Terriffic Review: Finished both Area 51 & Area 51 the Reply in 2 days, could not put them down. Fast paced, plausible, very enjoyable. Can't wait for the "Mission". Hope they will soon be a movie. Excellent reading.
Rating: Summary: great series anxiously awating Area 51:The Mission Review: From the first page of this series to the last, this has been a great story. The factual information in this fiction just makes it that much harder to actually believe it is fiction. With only a passing interest in UFO and science fiction reading materials, I'm hooked on this series. I can hardly wait for the Misson.....
Rating: Summary: Doherty needs some help with his writing style Review: Heres an example of someone with a great imagination and fascinating plot who just doesn't cut it as a writer! I read the other books because his ideas and plot of alien visitation is fascinating and I love Sci Fi. The theme of the books is what I wish X-Files had pursued. But then we have Doherty's writing which is absolutely terrible. He has shallow characters and too many of them. He jumps from character group to character group with no separation by chapter. You will be reading about Turcott and his bunch and the next page, you are reading about three other characters in a different part of the world. I had to keep referring back to the beginning of the book to figure out who people are. "Lets see, who are these people again, and where are they and what are they supposed to be doing?" He uses so many abbreviations for different government and military organizations and throws in a lot of superfluous information about things that really don't need to be in there that one spends time trying to figure that out too. It is very very hard to follow and distracts from the actual story line! (In a way, he is like Robin Cook with great plot but lousy way of getting there - junk detail.) If Doherty would get some help with his writing style, he could be a smash!
Rating: Summary: RAISES AS MANY QUESTIONS AS IT ANSWERS Review: I enjoyed AREA 51 and this sequel continues the same story with the same characters. While the "reply" to the message at the end of Area 51 is received, the story kept me wishing for more at the end. Can't wait until the next book in the series. Exciting, fun and makes you think. READ IT.

Rating: Summary: Doherty needs some help with his writing style Review: I have been given the first four books in this series and had vowed to read them all, regardless of quality. Like all good vows, it should be an ordeal to actually live up to the promise, and this definitely fits into the good vow category.Doherty has obviously figured out that he can exploit an audience that believes in UFOs and government conspiracies. The other similar exploiters of these people range in the quality spectrum from the X-Files (good) to the Weekly World News (bad). The Area 51 books tend to the latter part of this spectrum. Once again, Doherty's biggest problem is his paper-thin characters. Weak characters make for weak suspense, and the dangers that Turcotte and company face become ho-hum. When a principal "character" dies, there is no feeling behind it. While there are vague hints of potential romance between Turcotte and Duncan, the hints are so vague, they are laughable. It makes for the sci-fi equivalent of a porn movie, where character and dialogue are just distractions to move the action along. Soon enough, it'll be on to book three. I just hope it isn't a chore like the first two. Fulfilling these vows are a challenge.

Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: I have read both Area 51 and Area 51-The Reply and have found the books to be interesting, and very, very belivable. (I live in Nevada near the regions described in both books). I am patiently anticipating the release of The Mission. Keep the books coming.
Rating: Summary: A Great page Turner Review: I loved this book more than the original. it really kept you on the edge of your seat with all the plot twists. I couldn't wait to finish it and highly recommend the whole series. Another thing is that even though it is a sci-fi it doesn't really get that far out.
Rating: Summary: Good continuation of an interesting series Review: I read the first book and immediately went out and search for the next. No drop off on this one. Great fun to read.
