He kept my attention and I read late into the night. I did not want to do anything but read this book! He will keep you reading late into the night! Thank you Steve for entertaining us! I look forward to reading all your newest books!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Too Much Philosophical Rambling Review: I have enjoyed Mr. Alten's previous books. I wouldn't call him my favorite author but the Meg series was good and kept my interest. Domain was pretty good and I was hoping that Resurrection would be as good or better.
There is a lot of skipping around which was confusing at times. Dominque's character became annoying and unrealistic. After having experienced what she did in Domain it was as if she stopped believing it or denied it. She acted like an uneducated person and was often belligerent when it wasn't necessary.
I didn't like making the character of Lilith's foster dad a "born again christian" He was such a bad person and to imply that Christians are like that was insulting and narrow minded. He subtly equated Christianity with evil and intolerance. Jesus was neither and His true followers are not either.
Also his sex scenes were unecessary and overly graphic. I don't think he needed that to make us understand what Lilith went through growing up. So many other things were unrealistic in the novel why did he feel he had to go overboard in his portrayal of her abuse?
Also I couldn't help but feel that it was a bit preachy. Almost like he felt that some of the impossible things he described could really happen if only mankind would grow up and start to love each other. That is a silly concept because evil does exist and good men must fight it. Sad but true.
Also he made sure the evil corrupt politicians were Republicans. How can a man as smart as he is think like that and be so one sided?
I don't think I would recommend the book, it is moderately interesting, but just too convoluted and satisfied with itself for me.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Love, death and betrayal at the end of the world Review: I have fond memories of reading Domain, the prequal to Ressurection. The pacing, the plot twists, and the mood kept the pages turning long after I should have been sleeping or doing work. That being said, I wasn't very excited about the recently released sequal. I wasn't sure how Mr. Alten could top what I considered to be an amazing work of science fiction. I'm extremely glad I relented and bought this book.Moreso than in the previous installment, Ressurection is almost agressively character driven. Throughout the course of the story, I find myself caring for the characters, even some of the psychotic villains from Domain. The real shining star of this novel, however, is Lileth. A tragic and beautiful young girl; her descent into madness is as enthralling as it is heart-breaking. Next to Simon Covah of Goliath, Lileth is the most well-rounded and intriguing character Steve Alten has ever created. I'd go so far as to suggest this book on the basis of her character alone. But if it's more science fiction you want, the book delivers near the halfway point. Taking place in the near future, it's great fun looking at the author's view of what our world could look like someday soon. Last but not least, however, is the return of the Mayan prophecies. If you enjoyed them in Domain, you'll love Ressurection, which establishes them extremely well. I give this book a four out of five because while it is spectacular, there are some disturbing scenes that might not appeal to everyone. Other than that, though, it's a fun read. The Domain series is the literary equivalent of the Matrix trilogy. Don't miss out!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: true page turner Review: I have read this book, and many others from this author, but have to say, this is a true masterpiece of written science-fiction. A great follow-up to his Domain novel. The entire story will have you hooked from cover to cover, and you won't want to put this book down until you are done, and even then, you will want to get the final chapter to see how this story ends. Anybody who is new to science fiction or even a seasioned sci-fi veteran will enjoy this story. I highly recommend this book to anybody.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fantastic Review: I loved this book. Mr. Alten is a wonderful author. It continues the Domain series the way I would have expected it to be written. Keep up the GREAT work Steve. A dedicated Fan.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A good return to the series Review: I purchased the book when it came out, and was unfortunately unable to devote the time to read it, uninterrupted, all the way through. This was not a problem though as the book flows well and I was able to pick up where I left off each time. I would recommend the book highly, though you would need to read the first book in the series to know the characters and to know the story. Some of the scenes described are a little inappropiate (sexually descriptive) for younger readers as they can be pretty descriptive at times - a first time for Steve Alten. Having said this it was appropiate for the story and flowed well.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great book unusual story Review: I would have rated this book a 5 had it gone into more details on the Mayan and Christian myths and as Domain had. Domain was most definitely a 6 on a scale of 1-5. The story was unique and the ending without giving away too much may have been the way Adam and Eve started and the does not deny the existence of God. I hope the 3rd book will be as good. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MR. ALTEN!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Simply Amazing Review: I'm going to make this review short and sweet. Resurrection is simply MINDBLOWING, there is no other way to put it, this is a masterpiece.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fascinating Review: Personally I have been more interested in ancient history in its reality. However there are few Fictional writers with whom I can relate to. Steve Alten and his Domain Trilogy being tops on that list. His ability to take historical items/information and weave it into this wonderful, and colorful tale is amazing. I myself have researched the Mayan history and found what Mr. Alten has offered is factual in what we know of their history and beliefs. It is due to this I think I find this work even more stunning. I was pleased after having read "Domain" that this was to be a trilogy. I looked forward greatly to the release of "Resurrection". After now having read "resurrection I found that I was not dissapointed in the least. As they say, the saga continues. My only frustration is that I have to wait for the next book. Kudos to Mr. Alten on his wonderwork.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: THIS BOOK READS LIKE THE AUTHOR WAS ON LSD Review: Please note that I have enjoyed every one of his previous works, and actually bought a couple of copies of DOMAIN to give out to friends, but RESURRECTION is nearly unreadable.Instead of the linear plot development of his previous novels, here Alten plays with the concepts of time travel, wormholes thru space, and other concepts derived from quantum physics. He might have amused himself and his best friends this way but the net result for me is that I was constantly annoyed - particularly the way the basic plot synopsis seemed to be repeated several times. Steve - piling on the B.S. so thick causes the reader to be unable to suspend his disbelief, something a work of entertainment should never do!
