Rating: Summary: Ok Review: I liked this book,I am eagerly awaiting the next ,and I'm a big R.E.F. fan,but I was disappointed that Rage of a Daemon King basically says all the other books are lies this is the truth. I think he destroyed the the previous books for any readers who read this book first.
Rating: Summary: Feist is the best writer of his kind. Review: I really enjoy the Midkemia books, And I hope there are many more.
Rating: Summary: Worth the read... All three times!!!! Review: The wait was long, but well worth it. "Rage" kept me rapt from start to finish. I think Erik and Nakor are two of the best characters yet! Please Ray HURRY up and finish the next edition.
Rating: Summary: Must finish the series, expectably good Review: How do you rate a book when it is the last in a series of great book. It was not as great as the others, but still very good. A must read, although I was a little lost at the end with all the different kinds of magic, paths, gods and demi-gods floating around.
Rating: Summary: Still good, but running low on gas Review: "Rage" is another in the long line of Midkemia novels that Feist has been churning out since the mid Eighties. How you judge this installment will likely depend on what you like in your fantasy novels. This book is all action, the entire second half of the book is nothing but bloodletting, and character development suffers for it. I applaud Mr. Feist for his willingness to sacrifice some of his best characters, but the absolute lack of intrigue make this book very one-dimensional.Also, Mr. Feist has fallen victim to the same ailment that afflicts a lot of long-running fantasy series -- that being, how to put your characters in ever increasing jeopardy. Just being killed and the bad guys winning isn't good enough anymore -- I guess if you're not putting all of creation in danger you just can't compete nowadays. The author now steps up to dead gods, insane gods, and the developing conciousness of the universe itself. If that's your cup of tea, more power to you, but I find plots based on love, hate, jealousy, or lust for power (ie human traits) easier to swallow and much more compelling. Having said all that, I will add that I still plan to read the next installment in this series, but Mr. Feist will need to grind a sharper edge that he did in "Rage" to keep me interested after that.
Rating: Summary: The Serpentwar Saga Continues Review: Wow! This was my reaction to the third in this series of magnificent novels (the Serpentwar Saga). If by some chance you've been off on some desert island and haven't heard of or read any of Raymond E. Feist's novels, you're in for a real treat. But you'll want to start at the beginning, where Mr. Feist will introduce you to his fantastical world of Midkemia (in the Riftwar Saga). Between his solo and collaborative works with Janny Wurts (Daughter, Servant, and Mistress of the Empire), Mr. Feist artistically and methodically unfolds generations of characters who fight to preserve freedom and goodness. Much in the tradition of J.R.R. Tolkien, you'll find yourself siding with the dwarves, elves, magicians, and just plain, old humans who bleed and suffer for what they believe in. And unlike the many novels which never convince us the protagonists are truly in any danger, Mr. Feist's heroes face mortal danger, sometimes quite unsuccessfully. And somewhat in the tradition of Stephen R. Donaldson, Mr. Feist's anti-heroes cause us to both cheer them and loathe them. But most of all, it is Mr. Feist's attention to detail, preciseness, and talent for wrapping up loose ends that make this author's novels so enjoyable (and believable). Mr. Feist is an insightful author. For the mark of an insightful author is the ability to use whatever genre of writing he has chosen (whether it be science fiction or fantasy) to examine the human condition. The science fiction or fantasy is simply an incidental (though believable) part of the story. It is the assessment of the human spirit that truly intrigues and compels one to reflect. And at this Mr. Feist excels! Buy his books. You won't be satisfied until you've read them all! (and there are certain to be more in this exciting series.)
Rating: Summary: Thought-out plots, battles and character development Review: Feist continues his epic saga of Roo and Eric when the Emerald Queen brings her host to the shores of Midkemia. A large portion of Feist's book focus on battling the host, with both might and magic. Character development is average, while the book is fast paced; it was hard for me to put down. However, the lack of a map of Midkemia in the book is extremely annoying due to the amount of troop movement and escape routes. To figure out what is going on, the map was really necessary. Hopefully it will re-appear in the sequel. Overall, an exciting book and I look forward to the saga's conclusion.
Rating: Summary: Superb, Superb, Superb, Superb Review: From "Magican" on through Mr. Feist continually keeps readers looking forward to the next journey to the world of Mikedema. Not only are his books superb but the adventure games based on the books are written just as intriguing and spellbinding. The creation of characters and the plots they fill and are used in are pure genious. I can't wait to see what comes nex
Rating: Summary: Superb book and series Review: All that is needed to enjoy Feist's latesteffort is to keep in mind his one main objective.Which is to write a "ripping good yarn". This book and series easily qualifies. Only a few other series have allowed me to escape reality and become immeshed in the worlds they create, notably Terry Brooks with the first Shanarra series and of course Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". My only hope is that Feist continues to spin his yarns for years to come.
Rating: Summary: Superior! Review: Raymond Feist is one of the greatest fantasy writers of alltime, in my judgment. I especially enjoyed his Serpentwar Saga, which began with SHADOW OF A DARK QUEEN. The latest book in this series is RAGE OF A DEMON KING. This series chronicles the lives of two boyhood friends, who went from being convicts to playing preeminent roles in saving the Kingdom from utter destruction. This series is very engrossing and transports you into the Principality of Krondor, and into the lives of the characters. I would recommend that anyone who likes books from the fantasy genre to read this series, though you may want to read the Riftwar Saga by Feist first in order to get background information. A masterful work!
