Summary: Excellent
Review: I'm new to Raymond Feist and his Midkemian novels, but after reading the first two books in this series I couldn't wait for ROTDK to come out. I finished reading it in record time and found it to be the best book of the series so far. It's action packed and definitely kept my interest. I am now going to read all Mr. Feist's works starting with the Magician.

Summary: Damn...
Review: I read Rage of a Demon King about three months ago, and I thought it a very apt continuation of Feist's Serpentwar Saga. I had been wondering whether there was going to be a fourth Serpentwar book in the works, and now I see that there is. This book was full of action. For me, it marked the beginning of the end of an era. Within two or three chapters, it seemed that all the characters I had come to know and love since Magician were killed. James, Gamina, William, everyone. But Pug still remains, and he is the important one. The story of Midkemia began with Pug, and I have a feeling that it will end with him as well. Tomas and Calis are still around too, along with (surprisingly) Martin Longbow. Though a great many of the characters died, that did not take away from the quality of the book. It merely shows that Feist is not one to get into a rut with all the same characters book after book after book... On the whole, this book was excellent.

Summary: An enthralling addition to any fantasy collection
Review: A great continuation of the Serpent War Saga; easily the most engrossing of the three with an action packed plot. Unlike Rise of a Merchant Prince which seems to meander along Feist returns the page turning action of Shadow of a Dark Queen to the saga. I would recommend this book to any fantasy enthuisist. With a flowing style unmatched by his peers of today in the fantasy genre Feist delivers all a reader could want and more with this installment of the Serpent War Saga. Weaving a tapestry of intigue and brute force war the reader discovers a whole new idea of what is at stake between the forces of Order and Chaos on Midkemmia. For those who've never read a work of Feist this is a great place to begin, and for those who have come to know and love the fantasy world of Midkemmia this is a definate don't miss.

Summary: RAGE OF A DEMON KING
Review: I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK. I LOVE ALL OF FEISTS BOOKS.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wow! The excitement is back!
Review: In this volume, Feist has managed to convincingly change some charachters and kill others. His writing style has consistantly kept me on my toes.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Something of a disapointment.
Review: I was slightly disapointed in R.O.A.D.K. Charachters that I had come to know and love over 6 novels were killed off in 6 paragraphs. This book wasnt even as good as the previous Shadow of a Dark queen. In S.O.A.D.Q. there was a definate emphasis on the military and I have to admit that it was very interesting and indepth. However in Rage, The loss of half of the kingdom was explained away in 2-3 battles. I can only hope that Shards of a Broken Crown is more indepth.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Sliding down a cliche-greased slope
Review: Raymond Feist has managed to populate Midkemia with a breadth of character not commonly found in many fantasy novels. Commonly, novels have fallen into a 'made-for-role-playing' category much to the detriment of the fantasy genre.

Unfortunately, 'Rage of a Demon King' has succummed to this malaise.

What happens in the 'Rage of a Demon King'? Several major characters are killed, the central city is completely destroyed, we have massive armies waging a bloody war, the universe becomes self aware and the gods are invovled.

If the book was a TV series, it could be said that Raymond Feist was pulling out all the standard special effects and character devices to bump up ratings. People and places that had taken 10 books to develop where destroyed in a couple of paragraphs. Yes, there is shock value - but unfortunately no substance. Midkemmia has become cliched.

Rage of a Demon King is still an acceptable read, but it is definitely a depreciation in the quality that one expects from Raymond E. Feist and the mystical world of Midkemia.

Summary: This isn't the best 'Midkemia' book...
Review: I really didn't enjoy this book, as much as I thought I would.

Here's why:

First, and foremost, he reveals way to much. He completely blew the mystery out of the characters, like Macros, and Nakor. There doesn't seem to be any 'plot' left for the conclusion of the Serpent War, if the next book IS the conclusion.

Second, the story wasn't as interesting as his earlier books, like Magician, or A Darkness at Sethanon. The plot was droll, at best, and the characters were 'boring'.

Third, he spends to long writing about the same thing. He's not redundant, but it sort of seems like he's trying to fill up pages.

Forth, he 'lamely' rejuevenates his characters, letting them live longer. This seems to be just added in, because he couldn't think of another way to do it, or just didn't bother to make new characters.

However...

There was a lot of emotion to the book. Some of our favourite characters die, the battles are quite heartening.

The book doesn't really end on a cliff hanger, but you still want to read the next book, to find out what happens.

In fairness, this book wasn't the best work Raymond E. Feist has written, maybe his next works will be better?

Summary: All I can say is Excellence
Review: Raymond has written the best that I have read and he HAS TO GET more books out asap.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Beautifully Written, Well Developed, Masterful!
Review: Fiest once again weaves a tale of epic clashes between good and evil. This novel, like its predecessors, helps complete the development of Roo and Erik, and their struggle against the "Powers that be." Rage of a Demon King is a welcome addition to Fiest's collection on Midkemia and its members.
