Summary: Feist has definitely done better..
Review: While this book grabs and holds your attention, it is probably Feist's worst work. Other than a rather creative philisophical discussion about the origin of the universe, this book is mindless. It's almost as if Feist got bored of developing his characters and decided that he wanted to write 500 pages of non-stop war... which is fine as long as you create a story behind the war (which isn't there). This is the first book of Feist's that has disappointed me.

Summary: It's pretty awwesome man
Review: This was a cool book and I can't wait to read "Shards of a Broken Crown"!I have been following the entire series and like the others. This one ranks high in my opinion.

Summary: ENGROSSING, WITH PHENOMINAL DESCRIPTIVE WRITING.
Review: THJIS IS A CAN'T PUT DOWN BOOK THAT CAPS (OR MAYBE NOT) A STORY THAT STARTED WITH TWO LITTLE BOYS WONDERING WHAT THEY WOULD BE WHEN THE GROW UP. FEIST HAS MANAGED TO CREATE A WORLD THAT SUCKS THE READER IN AND MAKES HIM FEEL A PART OF WHAT IS HAPPENING. MY ONLY GRIPE IS WHY THOMAS HAS FADED SO MUCH IN TO THE BACKGROUND.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE EVER READ!
Review: The thing I liked most about this book was Fiest accomplished what he couldn't before and what most writers cannot and that is really making the reader feel a loss when a character dies.

Yes, its sad when you have a favorite character and they die, but I want to really feel heavyhearted as if someone really did die. I want the books realistic as possible. Isn't this why we read these books? We read to enjoy them, to laugh and yes to cry!

Unfortunately, when characters die in recent fantasy novels (which is rare), I feel nothing. Probably because the characters feel nothing. When Lockleare died in "Prince of the Blood" I wanted James to be really hurt by his best friend's death. There really wasn't much written of this. When Arutha died, again I wanted to feel James' hurt, but I didn't in the "Shadow of a Dark Queen". At least not until "Rage of the Demon King" that I finally got my true feelings from James. The loss of Arutha hit Ja! ! mes hard as he himself describes. The deaths of some other characters were written beautifully. I truly was saddened. This is what we should feel. Fantasy is fiction yes, but it reflects life in all aspects. "Rage of a Demon King" accomplishes this. All good guys do not always live forever and those that do happen to die are not immediately forgotten. If readers want to read a book and feel like what they are reading is actually happening, then PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: Plot was pathetic
Review: The worst plot device any fantasy author can use is the old "add another layer of evil on top" when the present evil gets wiped out. Feist clearly had not planned 90% of this book when he started Serpentwar, and just made up anything in order to fill this book. The characters (excepting Nakor) were so one dimensional as to be painful and this sudden reordering of his universe... well...

Lets get this straight. We have seven plains of hell, each with different demons. We have undead plains with wraiths, etc... Then in addition to demons we have these Dragon Riders or whatever they are, not to be confused with the Lesser gods. And who can forget the greater gods, along with all the mortal races. In the midst of this hodgepodge we have this farcical "Restaurant at the end of the Universe" place with doors into different worlds and whatever else this ideas starved author tacks on in the hope of squeezing out another book. To see a well constructed world with characters less reminiscent of a Disney Movie try Robin Hobb or Tad Williams. The Feist era is over, at least one book too late.

Summary: A satisfying conclusion (?) to another great Feist saga
Review: There is a difference in this saga than the former, and many have already mentioned that it seems to hurry along too much.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series, but thought the ending was a little "too easy" and just too expected. I was hoping for something more.

I disagree with others that say the characters were not interesting, i was happy to re-visit Pug, Calis and Tomas all over again.

Alot of people also gripe about the revelation of mysteries previously proposed in the previous series. Well, as a long-time reader of sagas that just never die (DragonLance), I was thoroughly happy to finally learn WHO Macros, understand Miranda's history and I love the "Simpkin-like" (Weis/Hickman reference) character in Nakor.

Everyone is a bit too critical, but i agree that it was sad to see Midkemia reduced to ruin. Parts of the story were EXTREMELY SAD, but then, all characters cannot live to be realistic.

I feel Raymond's goal in this series was to put to rest an excellent era of life on Midkemia. Some have mentioned the posibility of another book, I feel one could be written, but this ROADK really seemed like an end-all to everything.

Also, this has to be the most reviews I have ever seem on Amazon... wow!

Summary: it was the bomb
Review: Most of what we love of the world midkemia is tore down, and alot of our understanding of the characters are proven false. Characters such as Pug and Tomas really don't do very much, and they are depowered like crazy. Weren't they supposed to be invincible or something close to it? But in all, the story was good, and kept me busy for a couple of days. Can't wait for the next one.

Summary: AMAZINGLY EXCITING READ, <A REAL PAGE TURNER>
Review: I found this book absolutely amazing and have read it several times over. I cannot stop wanting to read One more chapter before bed and have spent nights reading into the wee hours of the morning. I have read all of Feist's books save Shards of a broken crown which I will read soon. He is on a level with Eddings and Goodkind whose books also rock JT

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A stunning conclusion
Review: This was a great conclusion to a great series. For those of us- myself included- who love those guys Pug and Nakor we get a lot of action from them plus some unexpected help from an old sorcerer we thought was dead. But Nakor spouts pearls of wisdom while producing his usual round of oranges. For every Feist fan read this series and especially this book.

Summary: LOVED IT!!!!!!
Review: I really enjoyed reading it.. just finished it 2 days ago. Couldn't put it down. It had just the right mix of adventure, romance and tragedy in it. Can't wait for the 4th one to come out to see what happens to Fadawah's army, Eric and Kitty, James and Dashel, Pug and Miranda, Calis and the rest of the gang.
