Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Fast, fun read, but it has flaws Review: Overall I enjoyed reading what I thought would be the final chapter of the Serpent War Saga, but it did have some big problems. The major storyline is, of course, the invasion of Midkemia by the Emerald Queen's forces. The story of the fall of Krondor, Roo and his family's flight from the city, and the detailed descriptions of Erik's battles with the enemy were excellent. Although I was sad to see some major characters die, I thought that they were well done and not rushed. I found myself wanting more of the book to focus on the struggle for survival and much less on the weakest part of the story: Pug and the magicians.Pug's storyline felt extremely rushed and tried to explain away a lot of plot threads. Unfortunately, it managed to rip apart a lot of the backgrounds established in previous books, and I think it revealed way too many things too fast. If this was to be the final book in the series that's OK, but there's still one book left. What will Mr. Feist put in it?!?Most disappointing was the whole deal with the demons. Feist built up the demons to be massively powerful beings that are nearly unstoppable, but I cam away from this book feeling like they were a bunch of wimps, especially the original demon king Maarg.Pug himself was really bizarre in this story. At first he seems invinsible, as he has been built up to be in the previous novels, but then gets caught by a cheap trick and nearly killed. If that kept him out of the story until the last book that would have been great, but he got better within three chapters, and in the big rematch the demon seemed depowered, like Feist just needed to get rid of him before the last book. Most disappointing was Tomas' return to the main plot. He really seemed no stronger than Eric von Darkmoor, and never got a chance to show his Valheru powers. Now that he is probably depowered as well, I suspect we'll be saying goodbye to him in the next novel.Overall, I think this book would have been a 9 or a 10 if Feist had cut back on most of the magical and historical revelations and kept Pug and friends on the sidelines. The non-magical combat and the plight of Roo could have easily made this the best of all the Midkemia novels. Unfortunately, too much was stuffed into one book to make it truly great. Nevertheless, I look forward to the conclusion of the Serpent War.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Definitely a unique book in the series Review: This book was a truly quick read, especially for the big fansof Mr. Feist. It can easily be finished in 2 days or less. I willadmit that I have been eagerly awaiting the (what I thought would be) conclusion of the Serpentwar series and I think we will have to keep on waiting. There are a myriad of loose ends left lying around, such as the changes wrought by the destruction of the Lifestone, a huge invading army still present, and Roo and Erik's new positions.^M This book hits the ground running and it is a struggle to keep all the plotlines and side stories straight. It is definitely one that requires a second or even third read for true understanding. ^M The plot starts with the swiftly progressing invasion of the Emerald Queen's horde from the sea. It is easy to feel a sense of urgency and despair for our well-loved characters as everything they throw at the invading force is turned aside with contemptuous ease. The subplot involving the possible invasion of the demons also adds another possible disaster into the mix. The fight scenes are great, much better than in any previous novel.^M However, the novel does have some disturbing things about it as well. The explanation we are given for what is really behind the invasion force shatters many precepts which have been accepted by fans of this series from the beginning, and comes way too quickly to be comprehended with any ease. Some things are explained with the simple words "I lied about..." which is difficult to understand. Also (and many may disagree with me on this), I hated seeing so many of my favorite characters end their earthly tour of duty here. When the book is over, you are bound to wonder if anybody will be left alive in the kingdom to write about in the future.^M Still, it was a good book that all the fans of this great series will enjoy. Hopefully we won't be waiting quite as long for number 4 to come along.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: LOVED IT!! Review: This book is about 1 million times better than "Rise of a Merchent Prince" a book that I little actually dislike but will not re-read agian either. In this book preety much everything pays off from the first two books we have a lot of conflict on all fronts and while some of it doesn't get wrapped up smothly it all comes to more than a satisfactory conclusion. At a point this book is just one drawn out slugging match with the forces of the Emerald Queen. Everyone who has possibly even remotly been in a Feist serise of books has a part to play and for the most part this works out really well. My favorite sequence in the whole book is the conversation between Duke James and the leader of the Thives Guild. This is a book that I will gladly rwead agian. Overall-Took a while to get going but in the end it packs quite a punch.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good enough for me Review: Being a devoted fan of Feist, I have to admit that I have read all of his books at least 5 times each. Except fairy tale. I only read that once. Rage of a demon king has only one flaw - it's too complicated for all but the most devoted fan of Feist and much of the inticate plot twists and inter-relationships are completely lost on most readers. Look at most of the other reviews on this book - they complain that demon king left them hanging - but then out of no-where comes shards of a broken crown, invalidating most of the reviews of this book! I boast that I knew there was a fourth book, and I enjoyed hanging out after demon king every little bit. feist has set the scene for Krondor and the rest of the kingdom. He has killed off characters, retired characters and invented a set of new ones, Eric, Miranda, Roo, given Calis a life and eventualy puts a new king on the throne. Get ready, its going to start all over again, - mark my words. This time, there will be no Duke James's, Amos Trasks or Macros's to rely on, it's a whole new realm.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: audio version of rage of a demon king Review: This particular audio version of a very good book is terrible. the story is chopped up, key charactors left out, and scenes mutilated. The story is hard to follow, and makes little sense.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Danger Adventure and Much More! Review: Just when you think things are going to be ok. Feist launches into another war which leads to the destruction of most of the kingdom. From the Lizard Men to the Serpent Priests Feist doesn't disappoint. Once you pick up this book you can't put it down. Another Feist 5 +++ star book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best of the midkemian series Review: I have read all the Feist books dealing with the Midkemian world. The "Pro" review from Krokus states they don't know why Raymonds fans keep buying these books...Guess they just don't get it. Rage is the BEST of all the books he's wrote so far. And boy he killed off some main characters in this series. For those who read this book I'll just leave you with these words from the book "As Jimmy The Hand comes back home".
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Better Review: "Rise of A Merchant Prince" disappointed me for its slow progress and pause of the overall story to focus on Rupert Avery's development as a business men. It wasn't the sole story in the novel, but it was the main focus. "Rage" is back on track with the overall conflict between Midkemia and the Emerald Emperess's Army advance. So much happens in fact, it made me wonder why another novel in the series is necessary. There are some ends left untied, but overall overthree quarters of the plot gets settled. I'm glad to see the return of characters from previous novels and Feist isn't afraid to show the seriousness of the conflict in not all make it through this novel, which only makes sense. Boredom would set in if all the good characters made it through every conflict with only minor scratches.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good climax to an entire setting. Review: This book isn't just the climax to the Serpent War set of books, it is a sort of climax to the whole set of Midkemia novels. Feist obviously subscribes to the belief that retiring old characters should be done well and heroicly. The followup book is simply to tie up all the threads of the action of this well-done book.
