Summary: A slow start but by the end you would wish for more!!
Review: 20 years latter after the The King's Buccaneer we return to Krondor to find a brand new cast of characters that won't disappoint you. The start of a new campaign to stop the evil that is across the ocean. Another Feist 5 +++ star book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Forget the cover -- It's Classic Feist!
Review: Actually, forget the silly cover that makes it look like Feist wanted to write a 7th grade fantasy, and forget the first 25 pages or so. Feist apparently needed it to get the story started.

However, after this it's pure Feist action-quest fantasy, set in the backdrop of Midkemia. The world revolves, the characters grow up and it's fascinating to see Feist's ability to keep creating sympathetic, believable, unique characters, and his continued gusto in making sure the characters and the story merge as one. -=- The BilFish

Summary: Hooks you and doesn't let go
Review: Couldn't put it down. If you liked the Riftwar Saga then this will keep you glued to the pages also. Does a great job of drawing out each character out in detail without boring you.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: exciting characters in a world of legend among fantasy books
Review: Even though Shadow of a Dark Queen (the Serpentwar Saga), is one of the best fantasy books on the market today, it still doesn't top Raymond E. Feist's first series (the Riftwar saga). Both of these series take place in the same world, but the natures of the characters are as different as could be. The fighting scenes and the vivid plot will probaly be enough to keep any fantasy reader satisfied. The only complaint I have is the language that some of the characters use, There is not enough realism in it. I know that if I was in the position of some of these characters I would be saying son of a ***** or ****, instead of damn. But besides that this is a very terrific book that is full of action and excitement !!!!!

Summary: If you have nothing better to read, why not?
Review: Feist is an author that manages to write readable books simply though sheer pleasantness. This characters in this series are striat out of a seventh heven episode. They take everything so seriously, and with such innocence. While this is not the formula for great literature (I find the number of five star ratings puzzling), it has a certian appeal. The world is well drawn out, especally for people who have read some of his earlier series (I haven't).

This story focuses around two... from a small town named Erik and Roo. They commit a crime and are forced to flee from their homes, which eventully leads them to become soldiers, set to fight a new threat to the world.

As I was alluding to before, how cute. These two characters will run around, fight many battles and meet a lot of people all of the while never quite losing their charming innocence. This series is not in the same league as Jordan, Hobb, or Martin, but that doesn't stop it from being fun.

Review: Feist is the best fantasy author ever

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent fantasy lore
Review: Feist weaves a delightful tale - a vivid fantasy world, endearing characters, and an enthralling story. Feist's writing style could be better, but this is nonetheless a spectacular novel that will keep you up for hours. Highly recommended!
