Summary: A book about bird-kids written by a man with a bird-brain
Review: Aspiring writers: if you need a morale boost, pick this up!
I'm pretty sure a 12-year-old could think of a plot like this.

The only reason I wrote this review is in hopes of decreasing its rating to a "1". I've never seen a "1" rating on Amazon before.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: I thought that I could read about anything
Review: I have never written a review but I have to get this off my chest. This is possibly the very worst book that I have ever read. Dumb dumb dumb. How in the world can this book be so popular? What publisher would produce this book? It's incredibly silly. Young teens might find it mildly interesting due to the obnoxious love scenes between little kids. Stay away, far away.

Summary: Mr. Patterson should take a break from writing
Review: When James Patterson first began his writing career, I read every book he wrote and couldn't wait for the next one to appear. During the past two years,it appears as though he were cranking out books to meet a deadline. Each one was worse than the previous. The Lake House has really hit bottom. Perhaps if Mr. Patterson just "vegged out" for a year or two, he might do better.

Summary: Okay reading for a day at the beach
Review: LAKE HOUSE is fine and dandy if you're in the mood to veg out with a pleasant and fast read. Overall, the mood is upbeat, and you don't have to think too much. Nothing wrong with that.

However, if you're looking for something with more substance, this book might not be for you.

LAKE HOUSE is packed with cliches, quotes, paraphrases and such; catchy stuff you've been hearing for years. More troublesome was the lack of continuity. It seemed as though chunks of text were missing. It got worse near the end. An example that won't spoil the story: Frannie's in a bad situation; she's helpless. Next thing you know, she's escaping with the rest of the gang. Wha' happened?! It was a quantum leap from one situation to another, with nothing to connect them. At the end, events moved much too quickly and abruptly; it was almost surreal. To be blunt, much about the book struck me as lazy and, well, sloppy.

Time was I counted James Patterson among my favorite authors. I hate saying it, but his latest is a major letdown.

Summary: Children's Tale
Review: I honestly had to check the liner notes to see if I was reading a children's book. The liner notes misled me into reading this waste of time. This is the first book by Patterson that I read, and if it is a legitimate sample of his work, I will not read him again.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: an easy read, yes...thrilling, no!
Review: I listened to the audio cassette of this book, but even an 8 hour drive couldn't convince me to finish the final cassette. The story was interesting, but written at a fourth grade reading level. Lots of repetion and exclamations. Fly, fly, fly! Up, up, up! His style of writing gets irritating and boring. The unique story could have been better.

Summary: Bring back Alex Cross and the Mystery Stories
Review: "When The Wind Blows" was a thriller about genetically engineered children kept in cages by the evil doctors. The kids had wings and could fly. In "The Lake House" the same kids are back involved in a tedious custody battle between their natural parents whom they had never known and the Veterinarian who had helped, along with Kit Brennan the FBI agent, to rescue them. The story is basically strange kids growing up and silly.

The Alex Cross books written by Mr. Patterson were his best literary efforts. When the Wind Blows sold a lot of books so on came the sequel. The result was a watered down version of a once successful book. It would be great to see the original suspense of the Cross series come back.

Summary: When the Book Blows
Review: Thriller? Huh? Whaaaaat?

Great book if you have ADD. You can review the last six chapters from where you left off (all 11 pages), and not get too lost. The plot, the premise, and the players were all ridiculous. I had to force myself to finish this book, because I couldn't believe that by the 96th chapter I still was not "thrilled". This book was terrible, right down to the last page.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: This is a terrible book
Review: Don't waste your money. If allowed I would rate this book a zero.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: unbelieveable
Review: I liked his previous books. THIS ONE IS THE WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. THE INSIDE COVER DOESN'T TELL YOU THAT THIS IS A SCIENCE FICTION BOOK ABOUT HUMANS WHO ARE HALF BIRDS. Very misleading. It does not even deserve a 1 star
