Rating: Summary: One Star...only because I am giving it away Review: This book is awful. Honestly, it the worst book I have read in years ( I average 40 books a year ). It was my first Patterson book and I am debating on it being the last. Do yourself a favor, get a root canal in stead!
Rating: Summary: Send this book FLYING out a window BEFORE you read it... Review: ...At least that way you will have saved a few hours of your life and won't be wishing you had them back later. Yes, this reveiw is harsh, and I actually am a Patterson fan - of the Alex Cross series anyway. With this book I had to keep asking myself if this was really Patterson writing or maybe one of his younger relatives doing it for him. The book is simply terrible, probably in my bottom 5 ever. The story is totally unrealistic - even more so than its predecessor "When the Wind Blows" - from the opening custody battle to the ridiculous plot thereafter. The writing style is VERY simplistic. There must have been hundreds of paragraphs consisting of three words or less. The sad part is that is not an exaggeration. I am praying that the Alex Cross book coming out soon will signal the return of the writer we know is still in there somewhere. Save yourself the time and just say no to this book.
Rating: Summary: The Worst Review: I don't normally write reviews, but I just had to say, this book was absolutely the worst I've ever read. Is this supposed to be for adults? How can this be such a popular book by someone I thought was a well-respected author? I regret ever picking it up and wish I could get my money back on it. It really deserves less than one star. My advice to others: Don't waste your time!
Rating: Summary: DUMB! Review: I have read almost all of Pattersons' books over the years, but this one was really stupid! When the Wind Blows was a bit out there, but this book was just plain dumb!
Rating: Summary: fluff Review: I didn't care for this book at all. It was nothing like his other books that I have read ( I had not read the prequel to this one). I felt it was like a Robin Cook or Michael Crighton novel instead of a James Patterson. Very cheesy.
Rating: Summary: Predictable Review: This book is so predictable that there was no major plot development that I didn't guess at first. The way the heros win their battles is ridiculous, they just do it. Stupid, boring, and short (the pages are mostly blank).
Rating: Summary: Entertaining!! Review: For Patterson this is light reading, but entertaining!!! I do not think Patterson wants these characters to deep too deep!!! An adult-adolescent book. Good, breezy reading after a complicated day!!!
Rating: Summary: SORRY JAMES..BUT ONLY 1 STAR Review: I hate to give a bad review for a book, but this book totally deserves it. I have been behind on my reading so I just got to this book that has been sitting on my shelf for a few months. I read this book in two days and hated every minuet of it. It was a boring book, with no excitement in it in my opinion. The plot was simple and boring. After reading this book and THE JESTER, I'm hoping that Patterson's new Alex Cross novel The BIG BAD WOLF that's coming out in November will be a lot better than his last two novels.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the first Review: I absolutely loved "When the Wind Blows," but "Lake House" was a bit of a letdown. First, to anyone who hasn't read the first book, read that one first: in order to really understood "Lake House," the reader needs to know about parts of "When the Wind Blows" that weren't necessarily recapped in this book. The last 50 pages were a disappointment; I got the impression Patterson was rushed to finish the book. Plausibility disappears in a very Scooby-Doo-like fashion, and some plot twists are predictable and sewn up too neatly and too quickly.
Rating: Summary: It could have been better Review: I finished reading this book in 4 days. I'm glad that I waited to get it from the library. When The Wind Blows was much more entertaining and adventurous. The ending was silly.. didn't like it. I look forward to reading new Alex Cross series.
