Rating: Summary: More mediocre paranoia fiction Review: This is actually the best in the series (at least through the first four, which is all I intend to read). Doherty is actually showing glimmers of understanding how to write in this story. At some points, his characters are no longer one dimensional, but actually show two dimensions. There is still no depth, however.Unfortunately, as Doherty improves some of his writing, he also seems to have given up in telling a complete story. All he does is make things more complicated and doesn't resolve much by the end of the story. For any true fan of science fiction - a person who has read the masters of the genre - this work seems only to have one purpose: to make other books seem better in comparison. If you wish to read good alien invasion stories by real writers, try "The Visitors" by Clifford Simak, "Footfall" by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, "The Monitors" by Keith Laumer, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" by Jack Finney or "Childhood's End" by Arthur Clarke. Any of these works (just the first few that came off the top of my head) show more talent in a single chapter than Doherty does in four volumes.
Rating: Summary: AWSOME NEXT BOOK IN THE AREA 51 SERIES! Review: This is an awesome book! The action just keeps on going. It keeps you guessing what will happen next in the book! I could not put this book down, it was great I was reading into all hours of the night and being extremely tired the next day! I like that he has keep Yakov in the storie he is a good addition to Mike. Duncan is becoming more adventure some now I like that about her. He sure has a mythology weaved into all four books and at the end he just leaves you hanging there! I cant wait for the next one to come out, the author said the next one will come out in a year! I wish it would come out now!
Rating: Summary: Excellent-- the series picks up Review: This series is really starting to pick up pace. I've enjoyed each book so far, this one the most. Especially like the historical references. I think there's a lot more reality to some of this-- like Operation Paperclip in the first. I've read about that and been the Archives and seen original documents. Wonder how much else in here is real?
Rating: Summary: A good read but start with the first book. Review: This was the first book I have read by Robert Doherty. What attracted me to the book was the combination of science fiction and ancient Egypt, and I wasn't disappointed. After starting the book I wish I had realized it was a serial and started witht the first book. But overall I found it enjoyable and plan to read the entire series. I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, like the old Serial movies. I guess I will have to wait for the next book to find out what happens. Bravo for Dr. Duncan, a strong female Character. Reminded me a bit of a Dirk Pitt novel with aliens.
Rating: Summary: Great series Review: Very rarely can a series of novels keep up the quality that the first book promises. In this case it is even the other way round. The more we follow the continuation of the story the more suspenseful the plot gets. Maybe that the characters are somewhat wooden and erratic in the descriptions of their actions and feelings now and then (Turcotte and others), but the plot in itself is consistent and conceivable. The series would be one book if it were not too long as it even follows the classical concept of the unity of time. But this is what makes this series such a marvellous read.
Rating: Summary: Area 51 The Sphinx Review: When I started this series I was scared witless that Mr. Doherty a.k.a. Mr. Mayer had gained access to highly confidential military secrets!! The first two books of the series made me stop and think! As the series winds on I am becoming more and more relieved to see this isn't the case! However, this book, as the previous three, is excellent! I am about to start "The Grail" and hope to have as much fun reading it! I recommend the serious to anyone who wants a fun read. Note to over-critical readers: You will find many flaws but try not to let it ruin your rest and relaxation. The point of reading is to get away!

Rating: Summary: Still incredibly stupid spelling errors! Review: Yeah, that's what's most memorable about this cheesy book: nothing! The story stretched out too long -- and all to culminate in an enigmatic ending. This is what is known in old Vaudville as cranking it out. Ninety-five perecent of the book was total filler, and at least thirteen percent was back-fill (updating what we already learned from previous novels). The action sequences were few and far away, and not too exciting. But the worst was the spelling. Hey Bob! Get yourself a seeing eye dog! Preferably one who can spell, okay?
