Summary: Good Read
Review: "Area 51" is a must read. It ties together several mysteries, such as the pyramids and the statues of Easter Island, to Area 51, a place in Nevada that the federal government says does not exist. I found two minor errors in the books but they did not take away from the plot. (The errors: the Phantom is called a F6 instead of F4 and the IFF (Identify friend or foe) is shown as FFI.) Before starting to read this book, make sure you calendar is clear - you will not want to put it down until you are done!

Summary: Not Bad
Review: Area 51 was pretty good for a Sci-Fi novel. It had plenty of interesting events concerning the evolution of mankind and alien races. The parts on Area 51 itself were really up-to-date (i.e., those parts of the story incorporated present-day Area 51 monuments such as The Mailbox and the Lil AleIinn). Doherty (Mayer) showed some pretty good special-ops military aspects, too, and some OK air and sea combat scenes. However there were a couple of flaws: First, the F-16 is not a carrier-based plane as in the story, and second of all, the Aurora spyplane almost certainly wouldn't be able to be scrambled on such short notice as in several scenes. But still a pretty good novel. Can't wait until the Sequel comes out.

Summary: A New Twist on an Old Stroy.
Review: The facination with Area 51 has had a new twist incorporated into the Myths (or FACTs) of the U.F.O. phenomenon thanks to Doherty. The book was a fast read and a can't put down. The story provided creative and interesting theories in tying together the civilizations of the past and the coverups of the government in the present. I look forward to reading the next novel by Doherty (The Sequal).

Summary: A thin plot for a thick book. Otherwise, pretty good.
Review: To spite the fact that the book was obviously written with "soon to become a major motion picture" forefront in the authors mind, I thought it was good. I usually expect to get more out of a book then the wiz-bang stuff you see in an action flick. Not in this book. I did enjoy that fact that for once I got to read about this cool stuff, without someone insisting that this is "real". Overall, a good light read. Especially if you are into this kind of X-File stuff, like me. :-) Andre

Summary: Cult icon turned novel
Review: This book caught my eye just before I left my localbookstore. I picked it up, read the back, and ran to the cashier. Fora mere $5.99, I was enthralled by the story the author presented. I found the way that all the great mysteries of the world, such as the pyramids and Easter Island, were incorporated into the story. I immediately read the book again and reccomended it to all my friends.

Summary: A wild ride of the 3rd kind, a non-stop page turner!
Review: From the opening moment till the close of page 372, AREA 51 has to be some of the best sci-fi I have ever read! This story combines some of biggest mysteries on planet earth and ties them all into AREA 51. I liked the pacing, the characters are very believable and felt like I was on a non-stop roller coaster ride right to the end. I highly recommend this book to avid sci-fi fans. I would venture to say that this book will crack open a whole new legion of Robert Doherty fans

Summary: Area 51 Review
Review: I read Area 51 for a class project and I would have to say that I am very impressed. Robert Doherty does an excellent job at blending the alien culture into the government and military cultures. I was immediately fell under the book's spell as I began to read about the sci-fi facility known as Area 51 and what goes on there. I loved how Doherty used a lot of military actions in his book that reflected his own past of being in the Green Berets. It was particularly fascinating how Doherty set up his books so that certain historical facts reflected those of the diverse alien cultures and how the aliens influenced our own history. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who loves a completely gripping sci-fi book because it holds onto you until you finish it and even after because it continues into a whole series of books which are just as equally great to read too. I felt that the plot was very creative and wasn't just about aliens at all. The plot mostly had to do with our government and how they keep secrets from the citizens. This book will take you all around the globe as its characters travel to different places in their quest to save the world from complete destruction. Robert Doherty is a brilliant writer and now has become one of my favorites after reading 5 books of many others in his Area 51 series. This is the one of the best alien sci-fi books out there so if you are looking for a good sci-fi, get this book and brace yourself for the fascinating thriller that's ahead of you.

Summary: Good Read, many mistakes
Review: While this was a good read and I enjoyed the plot there were far too many mistakes. The author is supposedly exmilitary but he makes repeated mistakes regarding military technology. For example he refers to the Navy and F-16's flying off the carrier. The F-16 is not in the Navy inventory.
While the story is decent I feel the factual mistakes detract. The mistakes also continue in the second book as well but now include grammatical errors.
