Summary: Great!
Review: I've read all of Janette Oke's books and loved them all! I've also read the other books written by her and T. Davis Bunn. This is definitely the best collaberation of the two authors. The story took a little while to get moving, but once it did, I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read the sequel. Definitely a must read.

Summary: Bringing Two Worlds Togethe
Review: In New France just north of the New England lies the land of Acadia. In the land of Acadia there are both French and English. A Frenchman would never go into an English village and an English man would never go into a French village. They may never talk to each other all their lives. It was just never done.

Catherine, an English woman, and Louise, a French woman, would change all that when they meet and become friends. They don't care if the other is English or French they form a bond that is like sisters.

Both women soon marry and have children. Soon everything changes and something happens that will change their lives forever.

Janette Oke does a wonderful job of bringing these two worlds together. If you read this book you'll have to read the rest of the series because you'll want to know what happens next.

Summary: The Meeting Place
Review: In The Meeting Place, Oke & Dunn ruly captured the readers interest with a story of freindship, love and loss. Two sepearte families from different backrgrounds seek God for the first time. He leads them to each other and changes the lives off all around them because of their friendship. I can't wait to read The Sacred Shore to find out what happens next!

Summary: The Meeting Place is one of my favorites yet!
Review: Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn did an excellent job writing The Meeting Place. They kept me guess throughout the book. It is truely one of their best works yet. I loved the story of these two young women whose hearts were knit together by God's love. It is an accurrate account of how racism and hatred hurts those who are innocent. I can't wait to read the sequel to see how the story unfolds.

Summary: A wonderful story of friendship and love!
Review: Jeanette and Davis are a great team and they have crafted a story which reaches the hearts of many readers of different faiths! God's love is bigger than doctrine or dogma. It seems many writers have heard the whisper of God urging us tell stories which embrace one another in spite of differences. Keep up the great writing! This is a powerful message and much needed!

Summary: A Chance Encounter Forever Changed Their Lives¿and Destinies
Review: Set along the rugged coastline of 18th century Canada in what was then called Acadia (now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick), The Meeting Place recreates a world that was home to native Indians, French settlers, and English garrisons. Such diverse populations did not live in accord, however. Instead, they were isolated within their own groups by a brewing political tension under the difficult English rule.

Amid such chaotic times two women, both about to become brides and both trying to live lives of quiet peace, meet in a lush field of wildflowers. Louisa, a Frenchwoman, and Catherine, who is English, continue to meet secretly through the seasons, sharing both friendship and growing faith.

The outside world does not mirror their own tranquil happiness and the dreaded crackdown by the English throne threatens far more than their growing bond. In the face of a heart-wrenching dilemma, Louisa and Catherine strive to maintain their faith and cling to their dreams of family and home.

Summary: Slow to get into
Review: The Meeting Place had an interesting angle. The last 100 pages kept me going and I am VERY glad I pressed through to finish. However, it was extremely hard to get interested in for the first half of the book. The events were slow in taking place. This is made up for, though, from the "baby switch" to the end of the book. It got my interest up enough to want to read the sequel...but it took 150 pages before I could commit to that.

Summary: Amazing story!
Review: This book is outstanding on many levels. I was engaged from the first chapter and couldn't put it down. Entertaining and thought provoking at the same time. I love to read and I honestly don't remember the last time I was so fully engaged in a story-one with characters and a plot that was as worthwhile as in "The Meeting Place." As for those few who think Louise should have been Catholic for historical accuracy, I fully disagree. Far better than tolerating differences, the two women in this story have a friendship and a relationship with God that transcends the boundaries of Catholicism and Protestantism...The "treasure" to be found within this remarkable story is an understanding of the value of trusting in a loving God who is sovereign and loves us all.

Summary: A wonderful story
Review: This book was fabulous. I felt like I really got to know the characters of Louisa and Catherine. Even though their own society's didn't agree with each other at the time, they were the one shining beacon of hope between the two. Their families had to overcome their prejudice in order to see the benefits of this relationship. Through it all, the young ladies taught eachother the value of friendship, a belief in God and that even one person can make a difference.

I would very much recommend this book to anyone.
