Rating: Summary: Typically tiring Oke Review: All of Oke's heroine blush, shiver, quiver, quake, day dream, dream, and cry. They are ALL the same. Delicate, (though they do do the proverbial "squaring of shoulders, lifting of chins in every book) stupid, golden heart do-gooders.There is very little REALNESS in her books. People just do not act that way. Secondly, OH GAWD the writing is tiresome. On and on and on about every minute detail repeat ... repeat ... just filling up space. I think Oke thinks all her readers are stupid and have to have it all s-p-e-l-l-e-d out. If this book was cut in half it may have been ok. Now I know why I had sworn off Oke about 15 years ago.

Rating: Summary: The best I've read by Oke and Bunn! Review: Although I love Janette Oke, I've never been a big fan of her books written with Bunn until now. The Meeting Place is a wonderful story of God's love overcoming cultural differences and prejudices. As Englishwoman Catherine makes friends with the Frenchwoman Louisa, the French and Indian war looms around them, and Catherine's beloved husband Andrew is an officer of the King's Army. Knowing that they are supposed to be mortal enemies does not affect the growing relationship between Catherine and Louisa until the Acadians are told that they must leave Acadia (now Nova Scotia). After meeting Louisa and her husband and extended family, Andrew realizes that he cannot participate in the upcoming war, and risks his career and his family's well-being to take his unpopular stand. In a plot twist that will keep you riveted, the two families are separated, but a slender thread remains between them that will keep you anxiously awaiting the sequel. The Meeting Place is a wonderful story of God's love and faith that crosses all languages and nationalities.

Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: Bunn & Oke write well together, and I think this is the best book they have written together so far. I am anxiously awaiting the next book. I would definately recommend this one!
Rating: Summary: THE SACRED SHORE--Sequel to THE MEETING PLACE! Review: For those of you who are wondering about the continuation of this Acadian historical saga, THE SACRED SHORE was released in February and already has sold 200,000 copies! The series, Song of Acadia, will have at least two more novels in it, the next one to come out early in 2001 titled THE BIRTHRIGHT.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Janette Oke/ T.Davis Bunn books Review: I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the sequel! It tells of two women with an unlikely friendship, and of the bond they have together. They both have troubled times and have to trust God but they pull through. Definetley a 5 star book!
Rating: Summary: The sequel? Review: I could hardly put this book down! As I was reading the last chapters, I suddenly realized that the story was not going to be completed! A note at the back of the book said that the sequel would be out in January 2000. I keep looking for it, but so far I haven't seen any mention of the sequel. I would like to know when it will be published and available, what the title will be. Thank you so much!
Rating: Summary: A great book! Review: I found this book very interesting, and I highly recommend it, and would give it more stars if I could.
Rating: Summary: Not What I Expected. Review: I have been a collector of Janette Oke's books since her first books were published. I haven't read any of her co-authored books until this one. I loved her other books so well I was afraid the co-authored books wouldn't be as good. I was wrong! I loved this book and like the other reviewers, can't wait to get my hands on the sequel. I am ready to go out and buy her other co-authored books to add to my collection now. I would recommend any of Janette Oke's books.
