Summary: I'm Still Needing a "Dark Angel" Fix ...
Review: A year after the show was cancelled, I'm still having withdrawals. This book was great picking up where the Season 2 Finale (and ultimately, series finale) left off.

In a recent email from MAC, it appears Book 3 will be the end of this series. Bummer!

Summary: A must have for any DARK ANGEL fan!
Review: Continuing where the series left off after the FOX network cut this great TV series life line way to short just to replace it with a future failure. This book shows how the transgenics deal with being trapped in a ghetto of toxic waste surrounded by the army and facing a serial killer who might be one of their own- a transgenic. I know, I know... would seem better on screen then rather on paper. But what can we do? Unless FOX desides to give us a movie... at least.

oO( FOX TAKE A HINT! )Oo

Summary: A great Read!!
Review: Dark Angel was the best show to come along since Charmed..The show had great storylines, witty dialog and likable characters portrayed by great actors! It's a shame that Fox cancelled this show and now is mainly full of these crappy "reality" (yeah, right) shows--with the exception of TRU CALLING, which, I hope will come back for a 2nd season...Anyways, about thss book, SKIN GAME, I've had he book a few days and I am 2/3 near the end of it..Out of all the tv/movie related books I've read, this one's the best! Collins surely has knowledge and understanding of the characters and really has given us a story that easily could be made into a DARK ANGEL MOVIE (hey, SCIFI Channel--how 'bout making this into a movie?)---Collins really has continued these characters well in his writings from the small screen to print. the cutting edge and cunning dialog you got from the characters on the show is right here in this book...Collins also is a very concrete writer--his literary expression of the characters and their surroundings help you visualize the scene taken place on the pages...Must say that the story is a bit darker and the language is coarse with some colorful language unlike what you found on the tv show, yet it seems to fit the telling of the story and roughs it up a bit...it's also the type of book i can't put down, however, I force myself to put it down so the enjoyment of reading this book lasts...Glad I bought this book--I will buy the others and hope Collins will bring us more DA novels in the future!

Summary: Almost good
Review: Good - It wraps up some loose ends from the show

Bad - Spends to much time rehashing a lot of the previous happenings wrong, In fact one of the main premises of this book did not happen according to the show. Therefore this book is on shaky ground. Descriptions of most characters sickeningly sweet. No new ideas are introduced. The new character introduced has attributes of another character from a previous episode. Everyone does not have to fall in love with Max. Do they?

I would recommend this to anyone who is dying to know what happened after the end of the show, but I would not be captivated by this if I was not a fan already. The writing seems amateurish.

Summary: Left a bad taste in my mouth...
Review: I am a huge fan of Dark Angel and was terribly disappointed at its cacellation. I looked to this book to answer my questions. It didn't, plus the writer was severly sloppy. There was no mention of the tattoos, and none of Sandeman... it was all left hanging so you have to buy another book! Not only Max Allan Collins started it out fine and was actually on a roll, but he ended it just horribly. Facts didn't add up and its like he just threw together a quick ending because his deadline was running out. Alas...the Dark Angel fans are left looking in other directions for answers!

Summary: A really good book, not only for Dark Angel fans
Review: I really liked the book, like I liked the series! But I think this book is not only for fans, it describes the caracters quite good, without boring the series fan. I know some people don`t like the end, bec it just ended without a big story how it exactly was, but I liked the end. I think that most movies, series and books end that way, so for me it was no suprise. I really recomend this book, especially forpeople who liked the serie, so they can read what happened next in terminal City, but not only for fans!

Summary: Disappointment . . .
Review: I'm at a loss as to why so many people enjoyed this book. I am a huge DA fan, and desperately wanted to know how it all ended. This book was well-written in terms of being true to the character of the show, but it was more along the lines of a mid-season episode then any type of sequel book. I read this in conjunction with the second book, After the Dark, and am frustrated with the plot resolution, or lack thereof. Another reviewer mentioned that this was too similar to a previous episode, specifically that with the transgenic who was designed not to be noticed. EXACT same plot, except with a less sympathetic transgenic. NO mention of what I thought this novel would be about, the markings on Max's skin, and there was way too much emphasis on people we really don't care about - e.g. Otto Gottleib. I felt as though the series was moving towards something huge, which definitely would have required at least 2 full books to resolve. I expected an in-depth look at the runes on Max's skin, Sandeman's history, Manticore's history, or anything at all meaningful, with EITHER book, and I didn't get it. I'm just going to pretend this book doesn't exist, and keep praying for a mini-series!

Summary: A must for fans!
Review: Lets face it, if you don't like the series you won't buy the books.

However, fans of the show will find them enlightening! The novel forms of the series takes on the same feel of the program. You would be forgiven for believing Collins wrote some of the episodes, these novels are as good! While reading, we are given insight to the questions that we were left with at the end of "freak nation".

Well worth a read!
