Rating: Summary: A refreshingly honest book for real women! Review: As a twentyyear member of the 'church ladies' sorority," I applaud Lisa Samson's fresh and insightful novel. This book made me laugh, cry, and, most importantly, think. I'm sure that God, who loves an honest, questioning heart, is smiling with approval on this marvelous work. Not to be missed!!--Angela Hunt

Rating: Summary: Excellant Christian fiction. Review: Excellant Christian fiction? Excellant fiction period! I loved this flawed main character and the first person style was perfect for this story. I could not put it down. The story, the supporting cast and the message were perfect! Never under estimate the power of a group of women praying together!
Rating: Summary: A Christian novel that's speaks to the heart Review: How refreshing to read a Christain novel that portrays the flaws along with the saintly crowns. Samson's writing reminds me of Katherine Valentine's where characters...flaws and all...work their way through some of life's hard issues but ultimately find redemption through God's grace.
Rating: Summary: Barely Readable? No Way! Review: I can't believe the previous reviewer read the same book I did! But she proves the message Lisa Samson was trying, I thought, to get across in her book: that Christians are all too eager to tear their brothers and sisters in Christ apart. The Church Ladies holds us all accountable to be kinder people, to watch our words and our actions and always be ready to extend grace. And yet, the characters were always human, not super-Christians who can do no wrong. I set down the novel feeling challenged to grow. You'll enjoy this. You may not feel comfortable with it all the time, but if you allow God to speak, I guarantee He'll have something to say.
Rating: Summary: An indepth story Review: I enjoyed this book. I could put myself in the various character's minds to find out what made them tick. Their emotions became real to me because of how well this book is written. Through all the heartache the characters go through, their faith never truly wavers--they may question, but not give up on their faith in God. I find that inspiring and admirable. i would highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: The Church Ladies Review: I found this book very hard to follow at times. There was no real flow to the changes in time. The description were too detailed. The reader gets lost trying to read the description and has trouble getting back to the plot. However, it was a good plot with the main character having doubts about God, her marriage, her life in general that many of us have everyday. I suggest reading this book but beware that it may be slower reading than most are accustom to.
Rating: Summary: The Church Ladies: A Novel Review: I have it & I'm NOT selling it!!This is by far the best book I've read in the past year! (And I read 3-5 novels every month...) The characters lives are so real you begin to think of them as your actual friends. With poignant honesty, that will make you smile, laugh til it hurts, cry buckets & pray harder. I am a better friend & person for having read this book. Buy it & keep it!!
Rating: Summary: Real issues, real characters, real life Review: I heard and read a lot about Lisa Sampson's book before I actually bought it. I agree with all of the other reviewers. The characters and issues in this book are real, so real that you feel like you personally know them. Your heart sores and breaks with Poppy as she experiences the "un-idealistic" sides of life that we all face daily. To those readers who are looking for a "typical" Christian romance novel...this isn't the one. There are times I like to read to escape, and this book was not an escape book for me. It was heavy. The issues dealt with are very real and prevelant in the world. This is a book that you put down and can't stop thinking about what the characters experienced. You'll not regret reading it...but go into reading it with open eyes and an open heart. It may be like holding a mirror to your own life at times. Maybe not the exact situations, but there may be signs that are revealed to you that you have veered off the path and need to get back to the basics...back to the the Light.
