Summary: True to the characters
Review: Anyone who is an "Alec" fan in the DARK ANGEL universe will enjoy AFTER THE DARK (and SKIN GAME as well). The handsome, wise-cracking X5-494 plays a big role in both stories, and Max Allan Collins has the character depicted perfectly right down to Alec's speech cadence, humor, sly motives, and flawed heroic ways. Throughout the books Alec is both 452's biggest supporter and biggest critic, as well as her right-hand man and loyal, albeit at times annoying, "brother."

And, in the end, he's a true hero.

Oh, the rest of the characters in ATD are fine as well, and the plot brings the saga of DA to a satisfying open-ended conclusion (and yes, I realize that's an oxymoron).

Summary: Great Book
Review: Dark Angel: After the Dark really got down to where the television show left off.. if you want to really know what happens to Max Gueverra you should read this book

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good book, but not without its flaws.
Review: First, it is certainly well written. Max Collins, as an outsider to the world of Dark Angel, did a splendid job of staying true to the world of dark angel and its characters. The book reads like an episode. Everything is just right, from Max's witty, sarcastic humor, to the lovable, tender and yet naive Joshua.

Unfortunately, as talented as Max Collins is, he was biting off more than he could chew. The two book series (Skin Game and After the Dark) aims to finish off the loose end to the series and bring everything to a satisfying conclusion. As any DA follower would know, the series was way too involved and way too deep to conclude in two episodes, or even four for that matter. Indeed to do true justice to the series, another season, in the least, would be needed.

In trying to conclude the series too quickly, Mr. Collins ends up trivializing many aspects of Dark Angel that made the show so special. The books trivialized the tantalizing struggles of Max and Logan to be together against incredible odds. At the end of Season 2, Max, in an effort to protect Logan intentionally distanced herself. Logan did much the same, thinking only of Max's best interests. This struggle was played down in the two books. By the end of the first, Max and Logan were well on their way to being back together again.

And what of the struggle of the transgenics for acceptance? Again, a storyline quickly and superficially resolved by the first book. The conclusion to the Ames White/Snake Cult saga was even more unbelievable. Without giving away the ending, the conclusion was a total cop out.

In the end, the story failed to really bring colsure to Dark Angel. However, despite the shortcomings, I would reiterate the books are worth a read. Just don't expect anything mind blowing.

Summary: A cracking read!!
Review: I have to admit to having high hopes for the last episode of the second series. I knew it was the last ever episode and hoped they would tie it up nicely, I was bitterly disappointed (apparently Fox can't see a good thing if it hit them between the eyes).

Thankfully 'skin game' and 'after the dark' have tied things up, while leaving things open for more. Collins is an excellent writer, and captures the feel and humour of the series with ease.

The author works well with Joshua, giving us a less niave more mature transgenic.

Summary: VERY Disappointing for true DA fans!
Review: I just finished reading both "sequel" books - this and "Skin Game." The author did a great job making the characters as real as they were on the show - but the books themselves left much to be desired. If these were meant to be episodes during Season 3, they would have been great. But, as a wrap-up of the books, they fell way short. The first book resolved none of the questions left at the end of the TV run, so I had great hopes for this second book. Unfortunately, the resolution of our questions was left to the end of Book 2, and it was not done well or in depth. To give you an idea of how cursory the author's dealings were with the actual questions we wanted answered: there was no mention of the runes that popped up on Max's skin until the last 60 pages of the book. The cult's' "evil" plans, which were extremely lame, didn't really figure into the book until the end, either. To top it off, all of a sudden Max kept remembering people from her pre-Seattle days, such as Moody and Seth - this is apparently an attempt to get us interested in buying the prequel book from this author, Before the Dark, which I will NOT be doing. I felt like I was trying to read a book with pop-up ads, thanks to this marketing ploy.

On the bright side, the author did do a really good job making the dialogue fit with the characters we know and love. Still, I'm going to stick to the DVDs and read fanfic to get the answers that FOX wouldn't let us have!

Summary: Dark Angel: After the Dark
Review: If you love Dark Angel then you will love this book. This book is great, it allows us to see what would have happened if the show hadn't been cancelled. Its perfect for anyone has been missing the show and craving new episodes.

Summary: Does a Little Justice, But Not What I Expected
Review: It takes only a true literary genuis to give fans what they want and to give Dark Angel the justice that it deserves. I am not saying that Mr. Collins did this, but I am not saying that he did not do this.

All the fans wanted, or at least I wanted , is to see the Max/Logan problem figured out, and to see what was going to happen to the trasgenics and what about the ruins? It was hard to say that the book really did it justice I mean the Max/Logan answer did a little justice but not very much. The ruins were rarely mentioned except for at the end which was completely confusing!

The only thing that I think was given proper justice in this book was the whole transgenic dealio. I am not saying that this book was horrible I mean sure it tied up most of the loose ends, but what about all of the other problems that came up in season 2.

I would definetly buy this book, but agreeing with other reviewers I think that it does not have the answers that I wanted, and I will read fanfics and write fanfics to give true justice to the thing that is Dark Angel.

Summary: ... Awsome!
Review: Okay this sum's up the Dark angel series in probably the best way possible (apart from the actual show not being cancelled that is). It answers pretty much ever question there is (although Collin's does leave a few open doors incase he wanted to write another book); and even manages to have a nice twist at the end. I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS BOOK FOR ALL DARK ANGEL FANS!!! (However, make sure you read "Skin Game" before you read this book or you wont know what is going on). Awsome book!!!
