Summary: Popcorn book-movie to kill your time
Review: The author definitely had a movie and bucks in his head when he wrote this book. The quality of the book plummeted as the result. It's just a description of movies that you've seen zillion times: enclosed space, monsters or obstacles coming one after the other, in the last moment the main character beats the monster (obstacle) to find the next one coming. NOTHING NEW unlike Jurassic Park. Value for your mind = 0. Not a great literature for sure, just a fast food to kill boredom.

Summary: Sphere is a Sci-Fi Thriller!
Review: Sphere by Michael Crichton

Sphere is a book about a psychologist, Norman Johnson and his experience with a strange, alien object at the bottom of the ocean. Norman is assigned to a government project that involves himself and a special team of scientists that he has assembled. They go to the bottom of the ocean to investigate a strange spacecraft that has been there for three centuries. Upon further investigation, the team discovers that the craft was from Earth and contains an alien object, a sphere. One of the team members, Harry actually enters the sphere. After he leaves the sphere, the science team begins communication with what they think is the sphere itself. Strange things begin to happen, unusual animals and even a giant squid appear and then disappear. But things take a turn for the worse, when these 3manifestations of the sphere2 begin to kill off the crew. For instance, a giant squid killed off a mathematician, Ted, after he aroused the creature1s interest. The creatures then damage their base, and the crew is almost forced to abandon it. Norman Johnson then finds out that he has been lied to by his colleague, Beth, when he finds out that she has also been inside the sphere. Upon finding this out, Norman enters the sphere and learns not only about life, but the human mind as well. Eventually he finds out that the sphere grants incredible power to anyone who enters it. The book is very technical and extremely detailed. Crichton explains mathematical expressions, theoretical physics, and zoology throughout the book. It is not difficult to understand, however. He gives a biographical background of all of the main characters, with detailed descriptions. From Harry1s childhood in the ghetto, to Norman's career, all are explained in depth. Crichton1s eye for detail is very apparent, and one can see this on every page. There is even a detailed description of the effects on the human body of breathing helium for weeks. I personally recommend the book to anyone who enjoys! realistic, science fiction. This book has a great deal of factual information and probable situations. Sphere gives a look into the human mind and into our very existence. Readers should be prepared to become totally absorbed in this intricate novel.

Review: I think that 'Sphere' was one of the best books by MC, next to 'Jurassic Park'. The ending was not so good, so i gave it a 9 but otherwise this book is fabulous.

Summary: THE ABSOLUTE BEST EVER!!!!
Review: Have you ever come accross one of those books that you pick up and never want to put down ? "SPHERE" by Michael Crichton is definitely one of those books. It is about action packed drama under the sea. Only your imagination can tell you what will happen. Just when things seem calm again, disaster strikes. The suspense is enough to keep you going for hours on end. I don't know anyone that could not relate to a charachter in this book. A lot of people love suspense, a good mystery, science fiction, horror, and drama. This is the only book I have ever found with a twist of everything. I am not a fan of science fiction, and yet this was incredible. I recomend this book to anyone and everyone.

Summary: Loved it until the last few pages.
Review: Well, I made the mistake of reading the reviews here before reading the book; people seem to forget that many readers read reviews to see what others *thought* of the book, not to have the book spoiled for them. So I already knew something about the plot of the book before starting it, other than what was in the synopsis and available from the cover. I thought this book was fabulous; interesting subject matter, great characters, an even pace, a thickening plot...and a great climax. I didn't even mind the way it ended, which I'd like to discuss, so if you haven't read the book yet, read no further!!!!! (That's why my knowing what I know wasn't entirely readers' fault; I did read further, even when told not to. Some, however, don't tell you not to and just talk aboutthe book assuming everyone has read it. Okay, I think I rambled on enough so that those who haven't read it could get bored and skim on down to te next review.) I didn't mind the way "it never hapened," but what I did find a little too easy was the way they got around the tapes. Surely, there must have been *some* evidence of the sphere...weren't the conversations with Jerry on some of the tapes taken to the sub? It just seemed like Crichton was a little too eager to have it work out the way it idd, and didn't think it through completely when it came to the tapes. Or he hoped the reader wouldn't notice the minor discrepency. If it hadn't been for the tapes thing, I'd have given this book a 10. I would've preferred to give it a 9.8, but since that's not an option, I decided to go with 9.

Summary: Keeps you submerged in suspense - literally!
Review: One of Crichton's best sci-fi novels. The ending was a bit disappointing though. Otherwise the story was very good and the suspense thrilling. One great thing about the book is the frequent twist in the storyline. This book got me interested in Relativity and Black Holes. But I would have definitely preferred a different ending. :-)

Summary: The Book was AWSOME!
Review: Sphere was a very very good I loved it. Crichton described with exelance. It was like he was drawing in my mine ilustrations while I was reading. I learned a lot about the ocean while reading this great book. It was very suspenceful and a major cliff hanger. I would strongly recomend this once in a life time novel.
