Summary: Best opinion
Review: A must read for a teacher Reviewer: Franki Leggio (fleggio@hotmail.com) I'm going to be completely honest in my review. I have an opinion, which looks at this Novel from many different points of view. First of all, I liked the theme of this book because it's about a retarded adult's life which changes completely in affect of an operation he has to get smart. He goes from a retarded adult to a genius with an I.Q. of 185. The book really makes you feel as if you were going through the whole process of becoming a genius from an adult. You feel like Charlie because it's in first person point of view. Although it's a science fiction Novel, it still seems very real to you. It's also very confusing because you're reading Charlie's hand writing as a retarded person and then as a genius. But as a retarded person you read through all his mistakes confusing you a lot. It's also a very symbolical Novel because of Algernon. Algernon is the mouse, which foreshadows what's eventually going to happen to Charlie, which builds suspense not allowing you to put the book down. In general it's a very good book.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: The author of this book, Daniel Keys, really seems to go into the mind of the character, Charlie Gordon. The book is the sad story of Charlie, age 32, a mentally ritarded adult who agrees to undergo a brain operation to "make him smart". However, he learns that being smart can be worse than being in the dark as he finds out about how everyone in his life hasn't always been as nice as he thinks. The worst part is when his brain starts to deteriorate and he realizes that he's going to be back where he was at the beginning - except not quite as innocent. This book is very excellent. I definitely reccomend it!

Summary: Absolutely Wonderful!
Review: I read this as a classic for English. I absolutely fell in love with it. I wanted to tell Charlie "It's ok." I really loved the relationship between Charlie and Alice Kinnian. This book is aout a retarded man who has an operation to make him very smart. I know it sounds like a weird plot but I never wanted it to end. I cried. I wish there was a sequel. A MUST read!

Summary: A pleasing and intellectual novel
Review: It is a well written novel but ultimately, I found it frustrating to read. It ia written in journal form, supposedly written by a very dim-witted fellow so the grammar, spelling and punctuation drove me up a wall at first. The errors were hard for me to over-look and although they were necessary (and all of that is superficial anyway), I found myself attacking the page with a red pen. The story is wonderful and everyone else who's read it that I talk to says it's incredibly emotional (I did not find it so, but who am I to argue with the masses?) It is recommended for it's morals and story but not the style or writing itself.

Summary: From Retarded to Genius
Review: Flowers for Algernon is a novel that will keep you intrested all through to the end. This novel is about a man who is 32 yrs. old, Charlie, who is retarded and with an operation he becomes a genius. Many things happen to this man during the process.Including things that he remembers from his past, and things that happen to him when he becomes a genius. Everything is explained in a very detailed matter. The book takes you into sharing the experiences that Charlie goes through and this is what makes it a wonderful book to read. You will learn about how it is to live in two different ways, in a retarded way and then when he becomes a genius, and everything that he realizes. This book shows us that intelligence is not everything, and that if someone is not smart or retarded they are not less than anyone esle in the world. This story had a great way to interpret human values, differences and importance. I loved reading this book and I highly recomended.

Summary: Reciprocity
Review: The story is overwhelming with real life similarities and experiences. The book is about a 32 year old retarded man, that has an operation and becomes a genius. One would think that he would be satisfied with this accomplishment, but he then learns the hardships of intelligence such as love, trust, and ones struggle with themself. The authors writing abilities reflect on this book since it enhances its real life meanings.I recommend this book to whomever is interested in emotion, love, and self-actualization.

Summary: Flowers for Algernon Review
Review: I think Flowers for Algernon is an ok book. It deals with trying to make a retarded person smart. This book goes through the trials and tribulations of the effects his experiences. You get to see through a retarded person's eyes. All he wants to be is smart. When he finally is, it is not how he expected it to be. He has many hard times through this, but he is very grateful that he is smart, even though it is not what he expected. Charlie then finds out about his past, and the truth about his "friends." This book makes you think about the things that you take for granted.

Summary: Flowers for Algernon or is it Tulips for Algernon?
Review: Flowers for Algernon is a very sad novel. There are a lot of problematic themes in it. This makes it exciting yet the more you get invovled in it the more you relate these symoblic ideas to your life. Charlie Gordon is a retarded, 32 year old man. He always tries to do his best in college but, he always gets stuck because of the horrible childhood he had. Charlie goes through a lot of experiences. Charlie is recommended from the Beekman's Community College the most ambitious student, so they studied him and noticed that he was good practice material for an operation that could make him smart. During the book he experiences loss and frienship, including love. He always keeps his chin up and he goes through the rough times and memories God has granted him.

Summary: Charlie's Experience
Review: This is a great book full of real life experiences about a grown up retarted man, that all he wanted in life was to be like everyone else. Although this book is painful to read at times, the author's techniques don't let you put the book down. I recommend this book to everyone that likes science-fiction with a real life twist.

Summary: Flowers for Algernon
Review: Flowers of Algernon was a nice book, it was different from others. It was about Charlie Gordon, who was mental disable and wanted to be smart really bad, more then anything in the world. Later on her realized that it's not everything to be smart, that it made some things worse. He also learns many things about his past and his family. It wasn't the best book I read but I think it's worth reading, because the overall story was good. They're where just some parts I didn't like.
