Rating: Summary: Enthusiastic, appealing and romantic Review: Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is a very realistic novel and must be read by everyone. you'll learn that being intelligent is not always the most significant thing in your life and that nobody is perfect. At first, Charlie's operation was successful however, the relationship between him and his "friends" became worst. What's important for him is the acceptance and love. Throughout the book, Charlie's IQ increases but his painful memories of his past let's him realize that life is short and how it would have been better for him not to know. As you read this story, there are some parts which you wouldn't expect to happen. If you don't finish reading the story, you won't be able to find out the best part of this book. Everybody should read Flowers for Algernon!
Rating: Summary: Flowers for algernon Review: Flowers for Algernon was written by the author Daniel Keyes. The story is about a grown retarded man that through a very advanced experiment he subsequently became a genius. Now that he is smart he has to overcome problems of his past and the problem he will have on his near by future ... He will try to overcome them with the person he loves Miss Kinnian. I' d give this book a 4 because it teached me a lot about how humans are with retarded people...
Rating: Summary: The Algernon Gorden Affect Review: This whole book is some how based on the Algernon Gorden affect, wich you will find out more about once you read the book. This book is a 3 star book because it is very creative in some ways. This book gave a good example of the life people have to face today. Some people have a very tough life and force themselfs in some ways to change it. There are so many unbeavible boundries that people will go to just to change themselves. This is what the main character Charlie does, as you might of guessed he is mntally retarted and is made fun of alot. But he gets a surgery to become smart, and he thinks he will be accepted but he got the total opposite. In some way, though he was living a better life. But the Algernon Gorden Affect is when Charlie got smart but then he got retarted again but even more retarted than he was to start with. And I think this is the theme of this book, that for every change there is a consequence.
Rating: Summary: A touching story! Review: " Flowers for Algernon" , written by Daniel Keys is a fascinating book you can't miss! It reflects a story of a retarded grown up man who is chosen for an operation that can change his life and all the other retarded people. I think the author of this book transmits sensations that get into your heart. While reading this book I could imagine every situation and that, was probably, what made me love the book. I think this is a book out of the ordinary and the way it is decribed makes you feel like the main chararacter, Charlie Gordon. I hardly recommend this book to all of you! After reading it you will keep thinking of everything that happened.
Rating: Summary: Flowers For Algernon Review: When I read Charlie I thought it was going to be a bad book, I thought I thought it was going to be about a guy that had mental problems. But instead it was a very interesting book about human feelings and human nature; it showed all that he had to become smarter. It was fascinating, because all of the different things he suffers to become intelligent. I think it that is very impressive how a human being has this obsession and tries to overcome it. It is fascinating and impressive. Even though it is a fiction book it is very realistic and human, and shows both sides of the human nature, (when he was retarded, and when he was smart). I really liked this book and I really recommended to anyone that wants to have a good read.

Rating: Summary: The muse of my reading skills Review: Flowers for Algernon is an imposing book where the magic of our dreams, the cruelty of life, and THE REAL FACE OF OUR SOCIETY are shown. I loved this book, because I think it gives us a little of our own medicine; it shows us that we feel sorry for people that might not have a high IQ but still innocent and happy, people that trust others, and people that always have a smile on their faces; when we really should be feeling sorry for ourselves. We suffer, we cry, we die of hunger, we die of hate, we not often have a smile on our face. Charlie, he dreamed to be smart, he fought for it just to be loved and to share with some friends, he never gave up, and he followed his dreams to the end. We should follow his steps and go for what we want even more if we can, because this kid didn't it without knowing a lot of stuff. This book REALLY made a different in my life; I didn't like to read and now I'm inspired. I am reading Of Shadow and Love of Isabel Allende and Emma of Jane Austen. READ IT AND I BET YOU WILL LOVE IT AS EVRYBODY ELSE! Lisette Oliwkowicz Caracas, Venezuela l_oliwkowicz@hotmail.com

Rating: Summary: A great book Review: Flowers for Algernon is a book that should be read by all. It is a book about how you can't change yourself. How you need to accept who you are and not who you want to be. This book is based on real life problems and situations. It is about a man, 32 years of age and is retarded. He gets an operation done to in increase his IQ but not all goes according to plan. To find out what happened read this wonderful book. It would make you sad and in other parts sometimes happy. It is a most enjoyable book and you will appreciate its brilliance. It makes you think about how misfortunate a retarded persons life is and how badly they are mistreated. This book focuses on that. I recommend this book to people who like characters who try to overcome their problems. This book opened up ideas for me and made me think about a retarded person's mind, heard and soul. It shows you that you need to be able to have trust in someone else beside yourself.
Rating: Summary: Realistic, Fantastic, Shocking, Original Review: Flowers for Algernon a book written by Daniel Keyes. The novel is about a retarded adult call Charlie Gordon he is thirty-three years old. He is a person that has been rejected by society by the reason he is mentally retarded. He takes test at the Medical Faculty of Beekman College, where they test his ability on solving maze against Algernon a mouse lab which the persons responsible of the experiment perform brain surgery to increase his intelligence. But Charlie has a special gift he has motivation to succeed in life. Then one day Alice Kinnian his teacher recommended him,to an experiment that was designed by Professor Nemur, and Dr. Strauss, this experiment had been tested on a mouse and it showed incredible progress in so little time, it was also authorize by Charlie's family that always rejected him and treat like he was nothing. The surgery was done succefully and as week goes on his IQ score increases, he starts to have a normal adult life, he felt in love to who it was his teacher. But he still hasn't find what exactly he was looking for, friends. As time goes by the only contact that he has is professional and with his girlfriend. But then when they go to a Conference to Chicago with Prof. Nemur and Dr.Strauss, he realices that something wrong is happening to Algernon. He try to find the answer but as time go by things are getting worst. This is why I considered that this is a great work of literature, it plays with the emotions of the characters and not only it show how society affecting another group of people, is showing that if you don't respect yourself then you will do anything to be accept it.
