Rating: Summary: Drops you into a world of immense intrigue. Review: When I finally got down to reading these books, I literally could not put them down. Each one, especially the book of D'NI, was fun to read because of their... "realness." I also liked them because of the pictures they placed in your mind. Just as if you were actually there. Truly a great series. I recomend this book(and it's prequels)to all people. Thanks Rand Miller and everyone else who helped to create these great reads.
Rating: Summary: The Myst Series Of Books Are The Best Books I've Ever Read! Review: Hi! My name is Alex Wylie, and I read this whole series! I have to say, that these books are the best ones I have ever read in my entire life! The way I got connected with these books is that I used to play the cd-rom game, so I thought the book might be interesting. I bought The Book Of Atrus, then The Book Of Ti'anna, then The Book Of D'ni, and I just can't get enough. Thank You Rand Miller and Co., you have brought excitement to the little town of Albany, Oregon!
Rating: Summary: A great book of mystery and segregation. Review: This book takes a unique look at segregation and slavery. Though confusing at first, this book slowly but surely shows how a world of marvel can be much more than meets the eye. Best on the three, but only once you figure it out,
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I have read all three books, and finished both games, and while this wasn't the best of the books, I thought it was WONDERFUL! I never expected what happened... what the big flaw of Tehranee was. I did wonder about how the boats moved, and how the maze worked, and what Hadre meant by "Do I see you?" when he first met Atrus and the others, but I never realized... I loved how little by little things like that were explained. I loved the beautiful descriptions of the places and things in Tehranee, and I also loved the characters. I thought this book was wonderful and well written. I don't, however, completly understand the ending. How were the D'ni and the Tehranee related? And did Eedrah stay in Tehranee, or come with the D'ni? But all in all, I loved this book, and I think that the MYST novels are some of the best books I have ever read!
Rating: Summary: Okay, but not a lot there to sink your teeth in. Review: Maybe I missed something by not having read either of the first two books or played the computer games. However, be that as it may, I found MYST to be relatively tedious and almost completely devoid of any kind of action. I guess I am too used to the likes of Tolkien, Eddings, etc. and their kind of fantasy-adventure story. If you want a lot of fast-paced action and sit-on-the-edge-of-your-chair type suspense, I would suggest that you avoid MYST.
Rating: Summary: This book is a good read if you like the Myst series Review: I read this book not to long ago and I was impressed with how the story was developed and how there was alot of emotional section that really showed what the author was trying to get across.
Rating: Summary: A strange, confusing, and mediocre book. Review: I felt this book to be not as good as the other two. I found the plot dissapointing, and the title awkward. It seemed to lack the wonder and the magic that was apparent in the other books. Further, while the other books, (The Book of Atrus and the Book of Ti'ana) had strong endings, this book had a very weak one. I would suggest it only to someone who is either extremly bored with their lives, or is dying of curiosity to find out what happens to Catherine and Atrus after you last see them in Riven, and really, I would rather have left it up to my imagination, then buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Myst:The Book of D'ni is wonderful Review: This book was very good. While not as good as the other two, and with a misleading title (why not "The Book of Eedrah") I liked it a lot. It reminded me of "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells, with the perfect people on top, and something else beneath (I realize the roles of the two groups is reversed). The end, however, was VERY confusing, as I couldn't figure out who was telling it. This is why I give it only four stars. However, I loved this book and think everyone should read it.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not the best. Review: Somewhat of a let-down, especially since it allmost all takes place in Tehranee, not D'ni. But good none-the-less.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS UN-BELIEVABLE Review: Jeez, how can I describe this book in ONLY 1,000 words! It's just the best. I already read it, but am still carring it around because I love it so much!! I've read several great classics, for example, The Good Earth. This book is just as good and ranks right up there with shakespere, etc. I am 11 years old, but will remember this book FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!
