Summary: This book will change your vision of the world
Review: According to Ernesto Sabato, in this book "the influence that Borges has increasingly had on Borges reaches an unbeateable degree. The result is a distressedly perfect creation: it is hardly believable the possibility to surpass that limit". "Metaphysical games are plentyful in this book."

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the greatest books of our time
Review: Borges is definitely not your typical writer. These stories are the works of a very intelligent author. Each time I read these stories, I learn more and more about myself. I never tire of reading these stories which are so masterfully written. Borges is a true genius.

Summary: The many themes of Borges.
Review: One of the best works of literature I have encountered. Borges explores alternate worlds with his exploration of dreams and the theme of time. Time in his stories can be either circular, labryth or linear. It can, and often is, more than just one. His dream stories make it such that it is difficult to determine what is a dream and what is reality. Borges' intertwining of these themes makes Ficciones an interesting and challenging read.

Summary: Powerful! Exhilerating! One of the year's best!
Review: Fictions, by Jorge Luis Borges, is a powerful look into the world of dreams and the supernatural. Through stories such as "The Secret Miracle" and "The Circular Ruins," Borges forces us to re-evaluate our own beliefs concerning our own reality by taking us into his laberynth-like mind where anything can happen. Borges' stories demonstrate his firm grasp of historical knowledge, as he places his characters in the midst of important wars and revolutions, then lets them explore universal philosophical questions and themes as "Who am I?" and "What is really real?"

Summary: Bueno

Summary: A brilliantly macabre vision.
Review: The best thing about Borges is that he refuses to be conventional. His fame comes from the type of story that he writes, short metaphysical wanderings without clean beginnings, ends, or even middles. Borges' stories get caught in the the same labyrinths as his characters, as Borges wonders, How much control do we have over our own lives? What, if anything, is the point? Located in a world where dreams and wakefulness continually turn around and change places, Borges' stories throw up their hands and maintain a glum resignation to fate, whatever that may be.

Summary: Ficciones es lo mejor.

Summary: Good
Review: Borges's Ficciones is one of the few collections of short stories that encourages the reader to ponder the many, reoccuring symbols that appear through the book. It explores the idea of the dream, and the power that it can hold. Borges weaves the ideas of linear, circular, and laberynthic time into these dream, and also allows them to stand alone in other stories. These two ideas, when combined with multiple references to the ideas of the Tower of Babel, help to make Ficciones the intersting, thought provoking, book that it is.

Summary: Ficciones is pretty good
Review: "Ficciones," by Jorge Luis Borges is an interesting and intriguing collection of short stories. Borges has a few major themes. First, that people who try to reach God will be punished. Secondly, that information and time are infinite and puzzling in nature. Thirdly, time can repeat itself. My favorite story is "Las Ruinas Circulares," in which a man discovers he is not as powerful as he once thinks he is. Overall, a good book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Genial y soberbia.
Review: Los cuentos de Borges son geniales, ejercitan una descripcion de la realidad y la re-dimensionan. A diferencia de lo "real maravilloso", Borges pinta un mundo comun pero revisado, interpolado, ampliado, incesante.
