Rating: Summary: More Moore Review: Moore's best since 'Love Nun.' Can't wait for 'Lamb.'
Rating: Summary: The Monster equivalent of a Harlequin Romance Review: Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought this book was more corny than funny. If you remove the sexual content you would have one of those 70s Wide World of Disney stories. That's not to say it's not entertaining, - it's quick and easy reading that won't win any literary awards but will keep you entertained for the short amount of time it takes to read.
Rating: Summary: It's a Pisser Review: Okay, okay. I've said it before, Bloodsucking Fiends is my absolute favorite Moore novel, but I think Lust Lizard (referred to from this point on as LL) is my second. Granted, we're asked to suspend reality quite a bit. (Why is it that vampires are easier to accept?) But as improbable as the premise is -- like we believe there's this huge man-eating beast hanging out in a nice beach tourist spot -- this book has a lot of laughs to offer. As in:-- the LL thinking the shiny diesel truck at the gas station is a hot babe! -- the relationship between the girl and this gigantic ("You said size didn't matter!") reptile! This is a great read, and not to be missed if you enjoy Moore. If you don't know him, I say read Bloodsucking Fiends first, and this second. Then you'll be hooked, and want to read the rest of his works.
Rating: Summary: Worth it just for the descriptions of the dog, Skinner Review: If you have a dog (or a cat), you'll want to read this book just for the dialog that goes on inside the dog's (Skinner's) head. You'll be rolling on the floor laughing just from that, let alone the rest if this absolutely hilarious book.
Rating: Summary: By far the funniest book I've ever read! Review: ...I have never laughed so hard over and over again at a book as I did this one. Unfortunately for me I am now spoiled as to what is truly hilarious and find I use Christopher Moore's books (all of them, but particularly Lust Lizard) as the standard. To-date nothing even comes close. I have recommended this book, as well as all of Mr. Moore's books, to other friends that all have different ideas of what they consider funny and none of them have come up disappointed. I am jealous of anyone that hasn't read this book yet as they are in for a great experience!
Rating: Summary: Everyone needs a little Christopher Moore in his life! Review: If you've never read a Christopher Moore novel, you just won't believe it--and that's the point! His wacky plots, gonzo characters, ebullient sexuality, and off-the-wall humor will perk up even the most jaded appetite. This novel stars the Lust Lizard, a huge sea creature, awakened from the deep by a slow leak in a nuclear power plant and drawn to shore, where he gobbles up depressed and nasty people (and an oil tanker and a few cars) and has an affair with Molly, aka Kendra, a human female warrior from old B movies. A town full of people whose anti-psychotic drugs have been replaced by placebos, a druggist who is in love with a dolphin, a sheriff who is running a drug processing plant, a constable hooked on pot, a schlock artist in search of new subject matter, and a cult of salvation seekers all contribute to the hyperactive insanity of this plot. This is a no-holds-barred, let-it-all-hang-out free-for-all which gives a whole new meaning to "the willing suspension of disbelief."
Rating: Summary: the best of all of them Review: I've read all of Christopher Moore's books and this one is definitely the funniest and most inventive. He just keeps getting better and better.
Rating: Summary: The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove Review: IT'S GREAT, I AM BUYING THREE MORE COPIES TO GIVE AWAY! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE! YOU'LL LAUGH TIL YOU HURT, THE BEST SEX SCENES, WILD AND WONDERFUL WRITING!
Rating: Summary: Literary nourishment Review: Groovy title, killer book. It's a lot like a metaphysical soup that soothes a sick soul. Read it!
Rating: Summary: I savored every page! Review: I got 10 pages into this book and bought everything Moore has ever written! This book is pure mirth. Moore has an uncanny ability to dead on hit the humor of mental illness. Kudos! Zoloft takers beware. I have never read the ending of a book so slowly as I did not want this to end. I laughed out loud more times than I can count. If you want a truly enjoyable read with fabulous characters, get the blues off of you and pick up this book!
