Rating: Summary: Cosmic Bandito forever Review: I have only read the German translation of the book. Nevertheless it's the best novel I ever read. The picture on the cover of the German version looks very native and kind of strange. How about the American one?
Rating: Summary: CONTRABANDANISTA FANTASTICA! Review: GREAT BOOK, READ IT YEARS AGO. I THINK I LENT IT TO JAMES WHO WAS ASKING WHERE I WAS! THE ONLY WAY THAT I WOULD EVER HAVE GOT MY THICK HEAD AROUND QUANTUM THEORY!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely superb. Review: A friend lent me a copy of this book in 1992 (where are you now, Jason?). It was signed by Alan Weisbecker himself. I can't remember who he'd signed it for, but the inscription said 'Montauk misses you very much. Alan'. Still the best book I have ever read; I MUST get my own copy.
Rating: Summary: A perfect mix of themes ....... Review: Drug dealing and quantum physics..... I didn't know the two themes belonged together, but after reading this book I understand that it is so ! This is an excellent book, an absurd, must amusing story that I never will forget. But I do not have my own copy, please get it back in print !
Rating: Summary: A truly amazing trip Review: Well, what to say about this book? All I can say is wow. It is funny, easy, and makes material(quantum physics) that would otherwise be almost impossible interesting. Simply stunning, it is a must read.
Rating: Summary: The best book I've ever read !!! Review: The best book I have ever read, even though I only have a Norwegian translation of the book. Mr.Weisbecker's story about a Contrabandista's sudden interest for Quantum Mechanics and the meaning of life, is funny, exciting... It simply has it all. Drugs, Banditos, Nyphomaniacs, Mescal and a story which just grips the reader, so that when the book is finished the reader goes straight to the nearest bookshop and asks for more titles by the same Author! Six out of five Stars to the story about Mr.Quark
Rating: Summary: If Hunter S. Thompson were a nice guy and could write... Review: What more can I say? I'm in shock to find that it's out of print, but why should I be...the 2 best books I've ever read were from the remainder bin. This one and Marian Cockrell's "Mixed Blessings".One thing I'd like to know...what good is Amazon's search engine if it couldn't find me this book when I searched on the subject "quantum physics and Mexican drug dealers"?
Rating: Summary: Quite Brilliant Review: I read this brilliant book on a holiday in Wales six or seven years ago. I have spent the time in between trying to get hold of a copy of it. If I'd known how hard it was going to be, I'd NEVER have given the copy I read back. I have thought about it so often since I first read it, and am dying to reread it, but... Well, I suppose it's in the spirit of the thing not to be able to get hold of it. I can't emphasise enough what a fantastic read this book is - beg, borrow or steal a copy, but whatever you do, don't shuffle off this mortal coil without reading it. Please.
Rating: Summary: mescal induced hilarity Review: so this is why i went to school to learn how to read; for tales of well-guided anarchism under the influence of south american mind warping narcotics. move over hunter s- this guy actually makes a story with sense and a punchline. hi-jack one from your local library before i move through your town.
Rating: Summary: "The Book" Review: I read it for friends on a car trip. We laughed hysterically from Omaha to St. Louis which is probably something no one has ever done before. I loaned it to a friend and never saw it again. I tell people about how great it is and they don't believe me. I wish I could find another copy. I originally found mine in a bargain bin for 99 cents at a Kerr drug store in N. Carolina in '89.
