Rating: Summary: An Amazing Guide That Keeps You Thinking... Review: I've read the Harry Potter books many times and thought I'd discovered all of the clues...Boy was I wrong! This book delves into the exact phrasings and slight descriptions in the HP books, revealing just how detailed these mysteries are! Sure to show you something, or many things you've missed the first, second,...twelvth times reading the books!
Rating: Summary: Fun way to be a fan Review: Yes, the author jumps to conclusions, and yes, it covers extreme clue-searching, but it sure is fun! This was a gift from another Harry Potter fan and we've had a blast discussing it! You can pick and choose what you read - it doesn't need to be read cover to cover. I do wish I'd had this book as I read the first four books. I would have been more careful in what I chose to remember as clues. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! A MUST have for EVERY Harry Potter fan. GET IT Review: I have just started this book and it is DEFINITLY a MUST HAVE for EVERY Harry Potter fan. I have read each of the books numerous times and they point out clues that I NEVER caught before! ...You should DEFINITLY pick up this book, either buy it or borrow it from a friend or the library but READ THIS BOOK! It is only about 400 pages, which isn't bad AT ALL if you've read the 4th and 5th books. I've used a highlighter on several parts of this book to highlight KEY clues that might have meaning in the 6th or 7th books and you should do the same if you buy it! Again, GET THIS BOOK! You will love it within the first 20 pages!
Rating: Summary: Excessive Vigilance Review: The authors are to Harry Potter what Trekkies are to Star Trek; but even more ardent. It's amazing how they completely dissect the most innocuous bits of information and come to (sometimes incorrect)conclusions. Waters and Mithrandir are indeed Harry Potter supersleuths who take their jobs quite seriously. The book does bring up some interesting clues that could easily be overlooked by the casual reader of the Potter series, but is it really necessary to ponder the significance of Hagrid flying over Bristol with Harry in Book 1? Or the method Madame Pomfrey might have used in administering Mandrake Juice to a ghost in Book 2? Most HP fans enjoy the books for what they are, and aren't interested in either picking it apart, passage by passage or trying to figure out what's going to ultimately happen when the septology ends. (Perish the thought!) I'm sure J.K. Rowlings doesn't herself have a clue as yet, so why should the reader be obsessed with chasing windmills like Don Quixote? With the thousands of clues, oddities and curiosities the authors expound upon, readers of this book will need to borrow Neville Longbottom's Rememberall to keep track of them. All in all, it's not a bad reference-type book... but remember, it's not Gospel; just the excessive, nitpicky and sometimes over the top musings of two HP Sleuths.
Rating: Summary: missed a few crucial points Review: I did throughly enjoyed reading this book. However, after going through each HP book with the guide, I have to say I feel as if I am being misled by the guide. In book four, I picked up the clue about the "Room of Chamber Pots" and the guide totally dismissed it as irrelevant. There are other clues the authors are missing but I will not reveal them as I don't want to be a spoiler. The guide did help me to read the HP books very closely to pick up hidden clues to the "Septology". However, I feel the authors are purposely steering you away from the more valuable clues. After my study of the series, I feel the guide opens up your mind to the hidden clues but guides you away from some very important ones!
Rating: Summary: !~*WoW*~! Review: This book was really awesome. I am not finished w/ it yet... but I already can give it 5 stars! The author really spent a lot of time and effort making this book...she went through it w/ a fine tooth comb! She definitely does not miss a single detail. I am amazed at how much I've missed reading the HP books, and I'm not even through w/ this book yet! This book is for the true HP fan, or even for someone who didn't really understand HP but wants to figure it out anyway.
Rating: Summary: A must-read for a true Harry Potter fan. Review: This is an amazingly detailed book with many wonderful ideas. I am an avid Harry Potter fan and was needing a good read before Order of the Phoenix came out. I definatly got what I was asking for! This is the best Harry Potter book review i have yet to find! This book is an analysis for the first four books, going by chapter by chapter, pointing out all the details and hidden clues. If you have already read the 5th book- thats fine! It is still a great read. I have found many of the ideas Galadriel Waters came up with became true in the 5th book. Whether you just want some more hidden clues or need a good review- I highly recommed you to read this book! I am 13 years old, so even if you are a young reader it won't be to hard of a read. I am also sure you adult readers will also find this book fufilling!
Rating: Summary: Good book as a whole... Review: Good book as a whole; however the proofreader, if one was used, should be fired! I found a least 15 typos and some grammatical errors throughout the book. Annoying.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: This book was incredibly interesting at times, picking up on things that you wouldn't notice in the books- even after your 12th reading. The analyzation of names used in the book gave me a new appreciation for the wealth of hidden information J.K. Rowling is able to work into her stories. The only real objection I have to this book is that it sometimes goes too far, making illogocal arguments about details that probably aren't worthy of so much attention. The book can be a little cheesy, but that is to be expected of a book for "HP Slueths." Overall, a good read, but there is a lot of nonsense you'll have to overlook to get to the interesting bits.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I tabbed, wrote all over, and basically mutilated this book waiting on pins and needles for Order of the Phoenix. There were so many things I had never noticed before. The book summerizes each chapter, then analyzes it. After reading Order of the Phoenix, I went back to see what they had predicted correctly and all. While reading Book 5, I began to wonder if JKR had actually read this book! Some ideas in this book were right on, and others were off. I dislike the Lupin-Is-Really-James-Potter theory, and they make it clear that it just HAS to be true, so that's why I've given this book 4 stars instead of 5. It's very handy, and very helpful. I can't wait for an analysis of Book 5 to be published.
