Summary: A hilarious, can't-put-it-down time travel adventure!
Review: I opened this book and was caught up from the first page. It is a clever, funny tale of mishaps, misunderstandings, and time travel confusion that you will not want to put down once you've started, and had me laughing out loud many times throughout. The characters were vibrant and interesting (even the shallow ones!), the setting and historical information clever and eloquently depicted, and the subject of the book itself fascinating -- what happens when you remove one cat from its place in time and then try to put it back unnoticed. A must-read, even for those who are not necessarily sci/fi/fantasy fans.

Summary: Clear a space to the left of your plate for this book!
Review: And keep a napkin handy! This is a book you will remember on your way home from work and be glad you don't have anything planned for the evening. I actually felt sorrow as the pad of pages thinned to the right and I knew it would be over too soon. But, alas, I was pulled along as fast as I could go. This is the kind of book you will wish you could climb into and never come out. Perhaps it is just such a someone as I that couldn't resist the urge to be a part of it who might step in and cause such a fuss so many years from now, Connie?

Summary: It's hysterical fiction, not a history book
Review: Connie Willis is a master of zany comedy. If you want to laugh, read this book. For those who harped on the accuracy of the historical details in this book, if you want a book that portrays history accurately in all details, read a history book. I read this to be entertained, and got more than my money's worth. Connie Willis has once again proved that she's one of today's best S/F writers.

Summary: Perfect!
Review: This book is everything a book should be! It is hysterically funny, incredibly clever, thought-provoking, and totally entertaining. The characters are real and lovable (Especially the adorable Ned and Terrence.) I can't imagine not loving this book.

Summary: By far, one of the funniest books I have read this year
Review: A return to the universe of "Doomsday Book", this novel is far less edgy and grim. Intelligent humour based on allusions to Victorian literature, this books takes everything you've ever read about time travel and throws it out the window. A fabulous fabulous book. A must read for English students.

Summary: Whimsical, entertaining time-travel novel.
Review: Willis does time travel best, and this book is no exception. Laugh-out-loud funny at times, she uses the novel as a tribute to Jerome K. Jerome and as a forum to 'lighten up,' in contrast to -Doomsday Book-. If possible, I recommend reading Jerome's -Three Men In a Boat (to say nothing of the dog)- first, as some of the more humorous moments will take on a second meaning. (Not reading Jerome's book would not detract from Willis' novel, though.) A must read for Willis fans.

Summary: Starts slow, but worth the effort
Review: I had a hard time getting into this book at first, but I am glad I perservered. The early scenes at Coventry and Oxford are hard to follow due to the narrator's time-lagged state, and I nearly gave up on this book. I am so glad I didn't!!! Traveling from Oxford to Muchings End to Coventry with Ned, Verity, Terence, Tossie, Baine, the Professor, and Pwecious Juju (to say nothing of Cyril) was a truly enjoyable experience. Re-reading the book was even more fun. I absolutely had to give this book five stars because I originally read this book after checking it out from the library. I bought my own copy of it a week later.

Summary: Charming, witty, literate and extraordinarily satisfying
Review: Willis outdoes herself in writing *To Say Nothing of the Dog*, showing herself able to combine the best of Science Fiction writing with the victorian English novel. This work is gratifyingly literate in both style and substance, and is deeply amusing. A treat in every respect, and frequently howlingly funny. And the ending satisfies deeply. Just a delight.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Time travel, period mystery, Victorian romance, and a dog.
Review: Before you get the idea that the book is a dog, I should tell you there really is a dog, and a time travelling cat. They, three sets of lovers (all quite proper and Victorian), and a remarkably ugly piece of wrought iron statuary are combined to create a tale of how things might be with a fair dose of how they were. Ms. Willis captures 19th century England well, with a tale to teach and to think about. When you read it, pay attention to wht the professor is saying; it's pretty profound. Overall, a pretty good read.
