Summary: Realistic, exciting and well ahead of its time
Review: Michael Crichton knows how to create realistic science fiction without sacrificing the story he wants to tell-- a real rarity in this genre. He's raised the standard for science fiction. Very few writers compare.

Jurassic Park is one of his best novels. The story is well ahead of its time, terrifying and plausible. Chichton never lets the story become bogged down with technical explainations, but stays focused on the human element. A very satisfying and exciting novel!

Summary: Great Book!!!
Review: When I first read the book, I didn't realize how much Crichton really emphasized his support for the chaos theory and the whole nonlinear dynamics. The manner in which he portrays this theory is almost convincing. After I read the book a second time, I was asking myself the question of whether this strange but oddly captivating theory was true or not. A masterpiece. If only all sci-fi/thriller novels could be as intriguing as this book is. It will leave you on the edge of your seat up till the very end. I would suggest this book to anyone seeking a thrill ride.

Summary: One of Crichton's best pieces of work!
Review: Once again,I have found a book that is by far, better than the movies. This happens to be one of my favorite books! The setting is based on an island where a crazy scientist who's too rich for his own good, creates dinosaurs using D.N.A from the blood of fossilized mosquitoes. I won't tell you the rest. Yet,I will warn you, this book is nothing like the movie! It's extremely gory and there is alot of foul language. I'd suggest it for mature readers only. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

Summary: Let Me Not Say That . . .
Review: Let me not say as others have already said that the book is better than the movie, though it is in some ways. Movies and books are not the same medium. Movies, lest we forget, are moving pictures; books are movements in the mind, and the mind can perform more trick photography, so to speak, than can any filmmaker. I will, however, discuss the end of the book. Raptors are amazing creatures, as Crichton has portrayed them. They have an alarming intelligence. Unlike the other animals on the island, they know that in order for them to thrive, they must make it to the mainland. The survival of their species depends on it. This personification of the raptors had me thinking about this book long after I had read it. They're coming, they're coming, they're coming . . .

Summary: A Great Book
Review: I like this book because it is loaded with tons of suspense. This book is great, because of the idea to clone dinosaurs and bring them back to life. This book has a lot of twists and turns. It will leave you expecting more and more action. This book is a lot better than the movie. It had more intensity and brings you back for more. I would highly recommend this book for those who love nonstop action and for those who are just curious about how to clone dinosaurs. This book is great for children and adults. Almost anyone could read this book.

Summary: Fun and suspenseful, raises good questions about science
Review: Jurassic Park is set largely on a small island off the coast of Central America. Biotech scientists have been using genetic information recovered from amber to determine the genetic code of 15 species of dinosaurs and have used that information to produce real-life versions of dinosaurs. These dinosaurs are to be used entirely for commercial purposes - specifically they are the main attraction at a theme park under construction. The project leader has decided to bring a few paleontologists, some investors, and his own grandchildren on a tour of the island and quite naturally thats exactly when all hell breaks loose. The rest of the novel is an enthralling and fun roller-coaster ride as a few heroes and villains battle it out against their own creations.

Don't worry about dinosaurs hunting you down, the technology and reckless attitudes described here are at least years away from reality and at most infeasible but Crichton does make a few very interesting points and raise a few important questions. Can an experiment ever be fully controlled? Can we ever know all the consequences of our actions? Is it ever acceptable for humans to modify nature? These are important questions that will only get more relevant as technology improves. However what irritates me the most about Jurassic Park is the way Crichton answers these questions in a blunt straightforward way by portraying biotech researchers as reckless and by making every human modification of nature appear foolish.

Summary: A Jurassic Nightmare
Review: This book is about a man named Alan Carter, a paleantologist, who is sent to an island with other scientists far away in Costa Rica. Scientists combine the DNA of frogs with the DNA of reptiles and make Dinosaurs come to like again. The head of this project,Richard Hammon, creates the island into a park where people of all ages can see the Dinosaurs. One night while the scientists were in the park and watching the Dinosaurs, a storm came and it cut off the power source. The Dinosaurs escaped from their cages because the power was gone. Instead of the park being ejoyable it became a total nightmare. I thought this book was very good and detailed. I also thought this book was much better than the movie. If you like action this is a book you must read.

Summary: A book that was ahead of its time
Review: When this book came out in 1990, it introduced the general public to the concept of cloning. A decade before the whole cloning controversy took hold, Michael Crichton was ahead of the game, writing a novel about the negative consequences of tampering with nature. Sure, "Jurassic Park" is about cloning large dangerous animals who munch on humans, but the message is all the same.

I've read this book at least four times, and each time the book never ceases to thrill and amaze. It's a definite page-turner, and I would recommend setting aside a day or two so you won't have to put it down! :) If you like the movie, you'll like the book even more. It's like the movie to the tenth power. There is more action, more science, more everything. What is so compelling about the story is that it *could* happen. Scientists *could* find dinosaur blood preserved inside the bodies of prehistoric mosquitoes trapped in amber. They *could* extract enough DNA to recreate prehistoric life. As usual, Crichton's science is solid and well-researched, and always slightly ahead of the curve. Though some elements of the novel are outdated due to its age, the message about cloning and tampering with nature could not be more timely. All those scientists who want to clone humans should read this book and think twice about their actions.

Summary: This Is A Great Book
Review: I love this book and it make you think how greedy people are. How someone could have the nerve to try and control nature is just beyond me.

Several scientists, a chaos theory expert, two kids, and a lawyer are invited to see a special theme park where their expertise will help the owner make it ready for public opening.

At first the group is amazed at what they see, it's a theme park full of live dinosaurs! But soon flaws show up in how the park is constructed. Finally a covert attempt to still dinosaur embryos by an employee makes the park fail, then it is man against nature.

This is a great book which basically says that we don't own nature and that we shouldn't try and clone something that's extinct because there is probably a good reason why they are. This book scares me because I know that there is probably a scientist out there trying to see if he can clone dinosaurs and not stopping to think if he should.

Scientists learn stuff by reading what other people have done. They just take the next step in what someone has done to make it their own work. They didn't do the initial work themselves so they don't take responsibility for their actions. It scares me. Science isn't about helping mankind anymore, it's about making a nice juicy profit.

This is a great book. Ian Malcolm, Tim and Lex are the best characters. I give this book five stars.
