Rating: Summary: Prehistoric Disaster Review: Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park is a breathtaking suspenseful science fiction novel. The realistic adventure and danger makes the story frightening for the reader. Jurassic Park is so unpredictable that it leaves the reader on the edge of their seat. Everything in this novel is thrilling and exhilarating. Alan Grant, a very important paleontologist, is invited to visit this supposedly unique and one of a kind theme park off the coast of Costa Rica. This theme parks major feature was unlike any other, it contains live prehistoric dinosaurs. Dinosaurs who, thanks to our technology have been brought back to life. Grant is very skeptical about this whole idea for a theme park. He does not believe that anything that contains terrifying dinosaurs could be safe for tourists. His opinions about the danger of the park are proven to be accurate. A selfish employee gets greedy and a storm hits all at the wrong time turning everything in to chaos. Dinosaurs have a chance to escape and terrorize the island of Jurassic Park. The main fear for everyone is that the dinosaurs will leave the island and reach civilization. This could turn into even more of a disaster that no one had ever thought to imagine. Hammond can only sit back and watch his brilliant idea for entertainment, and the source of billions of dollars, go down the drain right before his eyes. Hammond, the founding father of Jurassic Park, believed this would be a brilliant idea. Before the first Jurassic Park was even completed he had already began to brainstorm what the next park would look like. He was very greedy, this seemed to have brought him lots of wealth, but what comes around goes around. Using DNA from reptiles to bring back prehistoric dinosaurs, how could anything go wrong? Right, the total opposite thing happened to Hammond's dream everything went wrong. His bright idea of a theme park had gone haywire and every safety precaution he thought he had taken seemed to be backfiring on him. The genius groups of scientists that he had hired seem to be getting less and less smart by the minute. Nothing was going right for him at this time, all his hard work and money was drifting faster away by the second. How could anyone be able to turn this park around and make it a theme park safe enough for tourists? Jurassic Park is a very fast pace book with many exciting moments. It keeps the reader's nose deep in the book, unable to put it down. Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park was a great novel, which inspired the suspenseful movie. The book shares the same adventure, drama, and excitement as the movie. The book has many gruesome parts, but this only adds to the thrill and detail, which will pull the reader into the story. As a big fan of the movie you will love reading Michael Crichton's version of Jurassic Park.
Rating: Summary: A tyrannosauras review Review: Michael Crichton creates a horrifying master piece called Jurassic Park. A supernatural science thriller that sends chills down the spines of everyone that reads the book. It is a book everyone should read. Jurassic Park is a book about an amusement park, though this amusement park is much different from any other amusement park. It is a Jurassic Park. A park full of cloned dinosaurs. The man who organized the parks construction was named John Hammond. Before the park was opened to the public John Hammond invited guests he selected to tour the park. All the characters John invited were very intelligent in different ways. Dr. Allen Grant was a well respected paleontologist and his student Ellie Sattler was on her way to becoming a paleontologist. Ian Malcolm was a mathmaiton that specialized in the chaos theory. The last guest invited was an investor from Ingen. These were not the only characters in the book Jurassic Park, though they were key characters in the book. John Hammond thought he had all the dinosaurs under control until something went very wrong. The parks pone lines and power went out. All the dinosaurs were free to brake through the electrical fences. The worst part was that know one knew how to get the power back on. Now they are being hunted why they are desperately calling for help. The fast action sequences will leave a person wanting more. If a person read this book they would half to read the sequel. Michael Crichton ends Jurassic Park with an excellent twist. People that don't like Michael Crichton should change there mind.A Review by Aaron
Rating: Summary: Beautiful and terrifying at the same time Review: This is the first Crichton novel I read. After seeing the movie, that I loved, I ran to the store to get the book. Not only was the book very different from the movie, but ten times better. It is written beautifully by MC. This guy has one hell of an imagination that makes you feel like you are the one running from the T-Rex, screaming not to be eaten by rapters, and gasping at the huge brontosaurs. If you enjoyed the movie, take the time to pick up this book. It is increadible. 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Michael Crichton rOOlz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Jurassic Park was a very fun, exciting book written by Michael Crichton. I really enjoyed the action in the book; however, some of it was gruesome and disgusting. Many people died, but who cares anyway. In the book Richard Hammond clones dinosaurs with ancient blood from bugs trapped in amber. He used the DNA to clone dinosaurs to make lots and lots of MONEY!!! But sometimes the dinosaurs escaped and reeked havoc on the park. Eventually the dinosaurs can reproduce making loads and LOADS of vicious velociraptors. How will they control the dinos? Read the book to find out.
Rating: Summary: Great read! Review: Although I'm a huge fan of the feature film made from this book, the film does not do the book justice. As is usually the case, the book is usually better than the movie. Even if you've already seen the movie, you've got to read the book...it's one of Michael Crichton's best!
Rating: Summary: Crichton is a Master Review: Michael Crichton's staggering talent never shines more brilliantly than in this novel. If you liked the film, you'll love the novel. If you shy away from blockbusters and surrounding hype, don't do yourself the disservice of writing this book off as pulp. It is a startlingly educational, high-suspense novel that wraps a fantastic crisis in a strong (if obvious) moral message. This is unquestionably in the top ten of the thousand or so books I have read. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Engaging read Review: When I was in 6th grade, some years ago, I had the habit of ignoring my teacher. I wasn't like most kids though, and only talked or daydreamed. I read. And when my teacher asked what i was doing, I simply replied, "Reading a great book- is that a problem?" See, the book I was reading was "Jurassic Park". I read for teh first time five years ago, and consider it mandatory to read it at least once a year. I never grow tired of it. Although it certainly isn't a classic, or even great literature, it is an intelligent, interesting novel. It has a great storyline, though it can be a bit too fantastic at times. And the ending leaves much to be desired. However, this is a fun book, an easy read. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Michael's Best Review: Jurassic Park is a grippping suspense thriller where the unpredictable is natural. The book is much better than the movie, and shows alot more detail in the dinosaurs themselves. Alan Grant and his assistant Ellie Sattler are invited by a lunatic millionare to visit his "Theme Park" where he has bred living diosaurs. Of course, something bad happens and the dinosaurs run amok in the park, killing an extreme amount of people. Over all, Jurassic Park is a wonderful book which can be easily visalised as you read. Of course, there are elements that tha were left out from the movie (The giant "birdcage"), and the movie spawned 2 horrible sequels.
Rating: Summary: Michael Crichton's best? You betcha! Review: Michael Crichton made many great books but this book topped off everything he every written in his life! The book tells us of the dangers of genetic technology and cloning dinosaurs is just asking for a bite. The plot: Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler recieve a call from their supplier, John Hammond, about a top-secert "park" he is working on and invites them to come. But something horrible happens on the island. This is the book that was turned into the incredible Jurassic Park triolgy. My grade:A+. A classic novel by the genius author Michael Crichton. Not to be missed by anyone near interested in good, ingaging stories.
Rating: Summary: One of Crichton's Best Works. Review: If you like highly technical fiction, you'll love Michael Crichton's writing. This book, as anyone who hasn't been living under a rock for the last ten years, discusses genetic engineering. A company has gotten hold of several samples of dinosaur blood that was locked in amber. They've used this blood to engineer dinosaurs to create a "dino theme park". Unfortunately, no one told the dinosaurs that! The dinosaurs eventually are freed, and run amok killing several of the staff at the park. The story is fast paced, and very enjoyable. For being as technical as it is, it is a very fast read. I read this book in about a week, only reading it a little bit at a time. Other Crichton books I recommend are Sphere, Congo, Andromeda Strain, and Eaters of the Dead.
