Summary: Dave's Review
Review: In the book there is an arceologist named Dr. Grant. He and a few others are invited by a man named Dr. Hammond. He tells them that he has park off the coast of Costa Rica. It is a park like no other. When they get there it is like no other place on earth.
The park is not full of regular zoo animals but dinosaures. The animals are kept in by electric fences for protection. It all started out great but then everything changes for the worst. The dinosaures get loose and now Dr. Grant and the others are trying to get off the island with their life.

Summary: Jaws Takes a Back-Seat!
Review: When I was a kid, WGN from New York had a habit of showing "King Kong" <the 1933 version> every Thanksgiving. I'm not sure if that's completely true or a memory lapse, but I seem to remember that, and it works for purposes of this review. I've always loved dinosaur movies. I'd watch the cheesiest stop-action animation over the best "big lizards" in make-up any day.

Michael Crichton's novel, "Jurassic Park," takes me back to those days. The dinosaurs in Crichton's books are not just animals, they are CHARACTERS. Characters with personality, with wit, with style, and you don't forget them easily. Especially in your nightmares, do you not forget them easily!

Crichton has been criticized, and somewhat rightly so, for his cardboard people characters, but in "Jurassic Park," you know each character; human and saurian alike!

It's a fast read. You can't help but wait to see what's going to happen on the next page! Yet, the book makes the thoughtful reader think a little more. When Ian Malcom discusses the theory of Chaos, the reader begins to think about the madness of life in this day and age, where random chance and inexplicable events seem to shape the fabric of existance. . .

Then Jurassic Park, in the story, comes apart. . .not unlike real life so often comes apart. . .and the reader is swept along on this roller-coaster ride of exquisite story-telling!

BUY IT. READ IT. CONSIDER THE IMPLICATIONS. . . just remember the words of the poet. . .

"there be tigyeres here. . ."

Summary: My English Novel
Review: I'm in 9th grade and I had to read a novel for my English class. My teacher said to pick a book I haven't read before, so I looked and found "Jurassic Park." I noticed that it was by Michael Crichton, my brother always talks about him, so I decided to read it.

When I read the first couple of pages I noticed that Crichton puts a lot of time in describing his characters. Though I usually don't like long descriptive books this seemed to be all right so I kept reading it. I got interested when little chicken sized dinosaurs attack a family, because Michael Crichton described how the dinosaurs crawled up the arms of the family and started to pick at there faces, it was pretty gruesome.

The book it self is about an old man named John Hammond, that tries to create a park of cloned dinosaurs. He gets the DNA from Mosquitoes that are fossilized in amber. Before he opens the park he invites a group of people to tour the park. The group includes a paleontologist, a mathematician, a lawyer, and Hammond's two grand children. When the group is on the tour the power goes out causing the dinosaurs to escape and roam freely. Now the group has to get back to the main complex and call for help.

When the book was over I was surprised that I liked it. Now I am reading Michael Crichtons sequel to "Jurassic Park," it is called "The Lost World." It has some of the characters from the first book. But since I read "Jurassic Park" I haven't been able to set Michael Crichtons books down since.

Summary: Jurassic Review
Review: When a person first reads the cover of Jurassic Park by Michale Crichton they might think it was just another dinosaur book. But that's where they would be wrong. The book Jurassic Park has a good reason for being the number one best selling book.

Alan Grant is a paleontologist that is invited to go stay at an old friend's resort he just built. When Alan goes he brings along his assistant Elie Sattler, he also meets Gennaro a lawyer, Ian Malcolm a mathematician, Denis Nedery a computer specialist and Tim and Lex Murphy to kids that are related to the Park owner John Hammond.

After Alan Grant finally gets to the island he sees strange creatures but it only takes him a second to realize that he's looking at dinosaurs, living breathing dinosaurs. The island has an advanced genetic research facility and has been creating dinosaurs for the main attraction of the park. Every thing in the park is perfect. But is there really such a thing as perfect, and what will happen if something major goes wrong.

The thing that mainly drives the characters is their will to stay alive. The power has gone out and now some of the most dangerous things to ever to walk the earth are out on the prowl. All the people wish to stay alive so they revert to the way people get in an extreme situation. They go to thinking survival of the fittest, they must find safety, and kill the things hunting them. Though in some people their fear consumes them, like Ed Regis who ran from a T-Rex and was sadly killed.

All the characters are changed through this no matter what they might think. No one can go through a life threatening experience and be just fine, and go back to the life the way it was before. It may be this experience that helped them have a different life and be able to see things more clearly.

The whole story is an adventure that will draw in your attention, and keep it there. Jurassic Park has the action combined with the right amount of suspense and mystery. Through out the book you will keep wondering what will happen next and who will live or die, I predict that most people that read this book will enjoy it and wish to read the two books that come after that.

Summary: Triassic-Jurassic.
Review: I read this book a few years back, after I saw the movie, and really enjoyed it. Of course the text is too complicated for the average viewing audience, I had trouble following the book. Yes, I'm used to an easy read, but this one had me thinking just to follow the story. If you put forth the effort it's well worth it. The book is ten times the story the movie is. Do yourself a favor if you like the movie, or any of Crichton's movies, and read the book. Then pat yourself on the back.

Summary: Cloning The Past
Review: Cloning The Past

Jurassic Park, written by Michael Crichton, is a fictional action story filled with adventure. Three toed lizards are attacking small children on an Island off of Costa Rica. All the scientists think that it is a lizard until a scientist sees a picture of one and says that it looks like a dinosaur. So a skeleton of the animal is sent to Dr. Alan Grant. Grant is a paleontologist working on dinosaur digs in Montana. Grant responds and says that it is in fact a dinosaur. So Grant and his partner Dr. Ellie Sattler fly to the island in interest of seeing the dinosaur. Grant was in for a big surprise not knowing that John Hammond, the owner of In-Gen, had turned the island into a zoo of dinosaurs. What his scientists do is take the fossilized sap from trees millions of years ago and hoped that they would find a mosquito trapped inside. When one was found they would take the blood from the mosquito that it took from the dinosaur and use its DNA. The DNA that was destroyed was replaced with frog DNA. From that they made dinosaur embryos and hatched them. Hammond wanted Grant and Sattler to be the first to whiteness the park. But for the park to be able to open to the public Hammond's lawyer, Donald Gennaro, has to approve it. After seeing only a little bit of the park, he thinks about how much money it can make and he can make and that's all he thinks about. Another person who comes along is Dr. Ian Malcom, one of many consultants at In-Gen. He is also a mathematician who specializes in the chaos theory. Then there is the big hunter man. He is actually the parks warden and his name is Robert Muldoon. He was formerly a big-game hunter. He is frustrated with Hammond because he won't give him bigger firepower to handle the big animals like the T-Rex. Muldoon thought that the raptors should all be terminated because he thought that they were uncontrollable. Finally there is the problem or you can call him the bad guy. His name is Denis Nedry. Nedry is Jurassic Park's main computer technicians. He had an idea to steal the dinosaur embryos and sell them for a lot of money. To get past the doors and electric fences he has to shut off the power. While doing so, all the electric fences for the dinosaurs turn off so they get loose.
Along with Malcom, Grant, Gennaro, and Sattler there was Tim and Lex, Hammonds grand children. When the power went out, they had all stopped by the T-Rex paddock. The T-Rex took advantage of the power outage and got loose. So then they all tried to escape and then got separated. Grant, Tim and Lex were all out in the jungle with loose dinosaurs and Malcom got back to the main computer room. Gennaro got killed. Now they are not the dominate species anymore. They are all being hunted and they need to get the power back on before they all die and the dinosaurs will rule again!

Summary: A Jurassic Review
Review: As the reader cracks open, and begins to read the first few pages of this 400 page novel, one may start to think that it is realistic fiction. It is fiction indeed, but more along the lines of science fiction.

Jurassic Park, created on an island privately owned by Dr. Hammond, a certifiable dinosaur fanatic, is the home of the latest, and most successful dinosaur cloning techniques. It is unknown to the public, but when finished, with everything from the smallest, duck-sized "compys," to the enormous, supreme Tyrannosaurus Rex (commonly known as T-Rex), it is going to be a tourist attraction; kind of like a zoo.

The main character in the story, Dr. Alan Grant, is a paleontologist with a vast knowledge of dinosaurs, and happens to know a lot about reptiles as well. Ian Malcolm is also a vital component o Jurassic Park. He is a mathematician with a lot of logical sense, and is very book smart as well. In fact, he has his own theory called the Malcolm Effect. He uses this to predict catastrophic changes in the latter parts of the story. Dr. Wu is the biologist responsible for creating and duplicating the dinosaur DNA. Arnold is a systems manager who plays an important role managing the parks power supply and security systems. Dennis Nedry is the man in charge of running all of the park's computer programs and security systems. He is Arnold's boss.

The problems start in Jurassic Park when Nedry shuts down the main power to the park, in the middle of a storm, to make an illicit transaction worth 1.5 million dollars. When he shuts the main power down, power to the electrical fences that contain the dinosaurs is also shut down, leaving the park extremely vulnerable to a dinosaur takeover. Nedry never completes the transaction, but is in fact killed by an escaped dilophosaur. Arnold is expecting him to come back to turn the power on, but since he never returns, the power remains off long enough for some very dangerous dinosaurs to escape.

Now the characters of Jurassic Park must face their ultimate fear in- coming face to face with the massive powers of these long extinct creatures. Will they be killed in the powerful jaws of the T-Rex? Or will they be skillfully hunted down by the intellectual raptors? Maybe survival is still in the picture, but nobody knows.....

In the eyes of this reviewer, Jurassic Park is a very powerful novel with great insight into the ever-lasting debate of whether science should continue forward, discovering the realms of nature, or reside in peace and harmony with nature. This novel is full of suspense, excitement, and intrigue. Now the reviewer encourages anybody who can get their hands on this enticing book, which provides an educational experience that will leave you thinking.

Summary: A Jurassic Review
Review: A JURASSIC REVIEW

The first thing that hits you when you read Jurassic Park is that it's a thrilling science fiction novel that's exciting to read. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that Jurassic Park was possible, or has already happened.

John Hammond's dream has always been to have park of prehistoric animals to share with the world. So when he assembles a team of scientist and other great figures, he makes his dream possible. Cloning dinosaurs was never thought possible until this old man at a ripe old age, made it. The park is set on an Island around Costa Rica 100 miles off the mainland. This is John Hammond's private island. Five years in the making and the park is almost ready for visitors. John decides to invite a few friends and family for a private tour of the park, but the tour was meant as an inspection by one Donald Gennaro. Gennaro is very upset that Hammond has invited the likes of his grand children, Timmy and Lex. Hammond has also invited famous paleontologist Alan Grant and his best student Elie Sattler. Henry Woo is Hammond's number one right hand man. With out this man Jurassic Park wouldn't have happened, maybe that was for the better? When John Hammond had asked Henry Woo to work for him, he was just a student, now he is a famous "dream maker". Who would have thought that this entire perfect seeming dream could go wrong? I'll tell you who, Ian Malcolm a mathematician from Texas that helped Hammond come up with some tricky information. Ian knew it would all go to heck but continued on helping Hammond with his dream. Dennis Nedry is a fat, lazy computer genius that is also very money hungry. Nedry helped Hammond complete the super computer programs. Nedry genius ends up hurting the park in the long run.

All these people in the same place should be a good combination, but add the dinosaurs and destruction is the equation. The tour is going good and the dinosaur fanatics, Sattler, Grant, and little Timmy, are having the time of their lives. Going through the exhibits in the electric car and checking out all the amazing animals. All is fun and games until the power goes out and the visitors panic. Is this set up...is this meant for something bigger then just a black out? Nedry is doing some fishy business and no one knows about it. With the power out and the electric fences off, the dinosaurs are pretty much free to roam, and they take advantage of that. With all this happening the characters must use many thinking skills like persistence and elaboration. If you think the begging of the book is boring you shouldn't stop reading so you can get to the heart pounding adventure once the power goes out.

Through all this tragedy and escapade this brings these complete strangers closer and some farther apart then you can get from the world. I loved this book and I hope you do too.

Summary: Jurassic Park
Review: Jurassic Park
A readers first Impression of Jurassic Park, written by Michael Crichton is a captivating science fiction story. This story is much more than that. It is a story of suspense, action, and heart-felt trauma, which comes along with the pain of deceased personnel. The plot was wired in the way that he had Ian Malcolm a mathematician fight with the main character Hammond throughout the movie. The way Hammond hated Malcolm so fiercely probably had as much to do with the way the mathematician presents himself as it does with his gloomy forecast for Jurassic Park.

A previously unknown variety of three-toed lizard begins attacking children in Costa Rica. A sample carcass of the lizard is sent to a lab at Columbia University, where a lab technician, believing it is a dinosaur, calls the renowned paleontologist, Dr. Alan Grant. When Grant receives a fax of the lizard's skeleton, he is shocked to see that it is in fact a dinosaur. Before he can investigate any further, however, Grant and his research partner, Dr. Ellie Sattler, are flown to Isla Nublar, an island off Costa Rica, as consultants for InGen, a bioengineering firm.
John Hammond, the owner of InGen and an important financial supporter of Grant's fossil digs, has turned Isla Nublar into a zoo called Jurassic Park, which is stocked with dinosaurs that Dr. Wu has cloned by means of a breakthrough genetic engineering technology. Donald Gennaro, Hammond's lawyer, is concerned about the safety of the park. Gennaro brings Grant, Sattler, and the mathematician Ian Malcolm, who is also acting as a consultant for InGen, to tour the island in an attempt to determine whether the place is safe enough for visitors.
Jurassic Park has been designed to run with only a minimal number of staff, with much of the park operating on automated, computer-driven technology and machinery. When Nedry shuts down the park's security system to steal the embryos, therefore, virtually all of the park's other systems start to malfunction. Nedry gets lost on his way to the docks-where he plans to deliver the embryos to a ship that is scheduled to meet him-and is killed by an escaped dilophosaur, a venom-spitting dinosaur. Nedry's death leaves John Arnold, the park's engineer, to try and unscramble the system lockdown Nedry instigated before he disappeared.
The power outage has also disabled the electrified fences around the dinosaur paddocks. The t-rex breaks through the dormant fence, eating Regis and severely injuring Malcolm. Grant and the children are forced to flee out into the park on foot. The park's game warden, Robert Muldoon, joins with Gennaro to search for the others. They find Malcolm and bring him into the care of Sattler and the park's veterinarian, Dr. Harding.
Before too long, Arnold has the computer system running again and the power back up. Malcolm warns that, according to chaos theory, things will soon get much worse. Muldoon and Gennaro venture out again to find the t-rex. Meanwhile, Grant and the kids make their way back to the visitor center, narrowly escaping some pterodactyls and the t-rex again. Grant finds evidence proving that the dinosaurs have been breeding, even though the park scientists have claimed the dinosaurs were engineered to all be female.

Jurassic Park was a good book. To find out the ending you will have to read the book.
