Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK Review: This was probably one of the best books that I have ever read. Everything was beleivable and since I've been a dinosaur fanatic since I was a kid it was specially appealing. five stars all the way
Rating: Summary: See the movie. Review: They say that the book is usually better than the movie, and I almost always tend to concur. But here is a prime example of the exception. Many of Crichton's thoeries on dinosaur behavior and movement not only completely unfounded, but straight up WRONG according to scientific data! The characters (both human and non-human) many times engage in activities that defy either common sense or instinct. Crichton seems unable to decide whether he wants the Raptors to be fierce, intelligent predators or simple-minded scavengers. While the movie had a rather disappointing ending, the book fares much worse. To be honest, I'm really surprised that someone, somewhere found this novel to be good enough to base a movie on in the first place!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: I read the book, saw the movie, and thought both were great! Good Job. If you haven't read the book, I suggest doing so.
Rating: Summary: Overrated Review: Micheal crichton is the most over rated author on earth. Jurassic park has such an impossible plot that you could just see all of the holes in it. It even explains that in the book, for some reason. DNA strands are to long to change like that, and I for one hate books that leave plot holes that big, and to top it off, almost the entire book goes on and on and on about Chaos theory and evolution, two subjest that most don't understand or even care about.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievably excellent plot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This book rocks! Of all Crichton's work, this is his best! With an unbelievably excellent plot with all the twists and turns a novel needs, this is one of the greats. (And I should know. I am an author myself)
Rating: Summary: * * * * * * SIX STARS Review: Hail to Michael Crichton! Jurassic Park is yet another stunning piece of work from Crichton that causes voluntary insomnia -- you just won't sleep until you've finished reading it. And I'm sure that wasn't just a figure of speech to many readers. I've read many, many science fictions, but none came even close to Crichton's works. P.s. The movie version may has amazing FXs, but it has skipped essentially all the good parts of the book. Read it, and you'll agree with me.
Rating: Summary: Just back from another walk in Jurassic Park Review: On re-reading Jurassic Park eight years after its first publication, I found it was just as pretty damn' good as I had remembered it to be. Whether or not the actual science is plausible and that chunks of dino DNA can be reconstituted, like so many packets of ancient powdered soup (I like to think it will be possible, eventually!) Michael Crichton writes a first-rate disaster story. My favourite moment now is when Muldoon is down in the garage (inspecting the jeep that the ill-fated Nedry is going to steal later,) and hears the first rumbles of thunder in the distance; this is just before the whole shebang slides into chaos, and re-reading it sent a delicious shiver down my spine. Wonderful stuff.. It is also clear that when describing the antics of biotech companies, Crichton was right on the money. Okay, so a genetically modified canola oil plant is somewhat less spectacular than a full-grown T-Rex; however, scratch the surface of today's aggressive purveyors of patented veggies, and you'll probably find the same macho attitude displayed by InGen and Biosyn in the novel (which is lambasted at length by chaos theorist Ian Malcolm.) So, both exciting and relevant - if you still haven't read it yet, I would urge you to do so without further delay!
Rating: Summary: I loved this book!!!!!!!!! Review: This book was great! I loved the action, the suspense, and the info. It was well written and Crichton obviously knew what he was talkin' about. I thought it was a little technical, but hey, I'm only twelve! The Lost World was a great sequal and I reccomend it to any person who liked this book.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Out There. Review: This book is THE best book I've ever read. I've seen the movie and read the book twice, and the book is even better than the movie. Michael Crichton does tons of research before he writes his book, and in Jurassic Park it shows. The action and suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat even if you know what happens. You could read it 10 times and still not get tired of it. If you like Michael Crichton or action in general, this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Don't miss this great novel!! Review: It's better than the film!! The Crichton's words tell u the story and paint the scene too!! You will buy Lost World once u've finished this one. Don't miss it! It's dispensable to ur mind.
