Rating: Summary: For those who watched the film and want more Review: I wouldn't say that the novel is better than the film, it's different, we can't make a valid comparisson between a book and a movie to say the "movie is better than the book", because on the book you must use your imagination to create the sounds, landscapes, and characters...etc. and you can make them as big as you can. Composer John Williams once said that it's not recommendable to read the novel first and then watch the movie, because what you have read is what you're going to expect on the film, and that's not always there. The book follows the same storyline than the film and has a few extra things that had appeared on the video game and on the sequel "Lost world". That's why I recommend it for those who want to know a different version of the film.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Review: I'm almost eleven, and this is my first real novel and probably the best book I've ever read. It is amazing to me how Michael Crichton describes every little detail possible. He fascinates me with all of the high-tech DNA strand ideas and especially the graphs and charts. This is the first time ever that I've forgotten about TV, and read instead. I recommend this book to anyone in middle school or above. This brought me out of my OLD favorites, the Oz series (but still good books), and into a new dimension.
Rating: Summary: Jurassic Park Review: Jurassic Park was a excellent, well-written book. Iliked tis book because it was realistic, descriptive, and teaches a lesson. It's very realistic, so realistic it's terrifying. An example of this is when the scientists take dinosaur DNA from blood and clone it. I can actually see scientists, in real life doing this an creating prehistoric animals. Another realistic part was how the dinosaurs managed to breed even though it was supposed to be impossible. The dinosaurs were all made females, but the geneticists made the mistake of using DNA from animals with the ability to change their gender. So the dinosaurs were breeding and no one knew about it. This was a believeable explination of how the dinosaurs were able to breed. Another factor that made this novel good, was its being very descriptive. The way Crichton describes the velociraptors seem smarter and scarier than they were in the movie. These dinosaurs could create and execute plans working together. They could also run, jump, hide, and slash people open with these giant claws on their feet. The Tyrannosaurus was also scary dinosaur, but it was also sort of stupid. The velociraptors were better than it. For one thing, the T-rex could only see her prey if it was moving. Also it was a solitary hunter that didn't and couldn't hide. And the only plan it could execute was chase a herd of smaller dinosaurs and hope to snacth a weakling or a baby. Anyway, the novel was very descriptive (it gave me an opinion on the best preditor, which happens to be the velociraptor). One thing about life that I learned from this novel is that people can't control it. The creators of Jurassic Park expected to be able to control and handle nature. They thought they could keep the animals from breeding, of course they failed but, that didn't stop the people. When the finally realized they were wrong about controlling nature and life, it was too late for them and may other people (if you know what I mean). For all of these reasons, Jurassic Park is a great book. It is one of the few truly frightening books I've ever read, and yes, it's better than the movie.
Rating: Summary: The movie was good but the book was alot better Review: This book is so cool you think you are really seeing dinosaurs as if they are really alive today. If you liked the movie you will love the book he really goes into detail. The only flaw is it is pretty long but other than that it is really cool.
Rating: Summary: The Great One Review: This is a favorite of mine although not my most favorite(You have to read the series His dark Materials for that). I like it because it has alot of explanation. You know in the movie it just leaves you wondering how if the dinosaurs couldn't live without licene how could they live on for the sequel. The best part though is when Muldoon is being hunted by the raptors. If you liked the movie you have to read the book wich is ALOT better!
Rating: Summary: more than dinosaurs Review: great book about math. explores cutting edge ideas and concepts that are coming true in real life. book is much better than the movie (which i really liked).
Rating: Summary: you almost feel like it's alive Review: very good book, keeps you tense all alon
Rating: Summary: Crichton's Best Work Review: I've read the majority of Crichton's works, and this one takes the cake, as they say. I've read this book three times over the years, and it never fails to entertain. And, for the record, it blows the movie away. The combination of science and science fiction is very well done, and there is no shortage of action to keep the reader interested. A page-turner to the end!
Rating: Summary: Simple the best book ever written! Review: Jurassic Park is the best book that has ever been written-no questions asked! Full of heart-stopping action and imagination! If you haven't read this book or any other Michael Crichton books, read them all (except for Airframe)! He is so great, but his best work was done in Jurassic Park! I love this book in SO MANY WAYS! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: I have never actually seen the movie, but the book was a wonderful, riveting adventure/sci-fi maybe even semi-horror story with wonderful charcter devolpment and a sense of ... realness. After reading this book, you feel like anything is possible. I was on the verge of asking someone if the events in this book really happened. That's how believable it is. All in all, this was a wonderful book everyone should at least try. I wish Amazon could let you give stories more than 5 stars. This deserves 10.
