Rating: Summary: A Great Read - Couldn't Put It Down! Review: I read this book shortly before the movie was released. Boy am I glad I did; the movie didn't do Crichton's brilliant work justice. My mind painted vivid pictures to accompany Crichton's masterful words. My imagination went wild: I was IN Jurassic Park. And I was both scared to death and enthralled with my unbelievable surroundings. I felt the adventure and the fear. I held my breath as I turned page after page. The only disappointment was the ending. It was so...well, unresolved. He set this up a little too obviously for a sequel. Within a week of reading the book, I saw the movie. I was sorely disappointed, but it was inevitable. Crichton's characters and scenery are just too rich to be adequately presented by Hollywood. And that's pretty amazing in itself. (Don't get me wrong - the movie was great, but not in comparison to the book.) Do yourself a favor and read this book. Let your imagination take you to a place far, far away. A beautiful and terrifying place where one man's vision goes terribly wrong....
Rating: Summary: Tou Lee's review of Jurassic Park Review: This classic is as good as it gets in the book-fiction industry. A story about a man with a great idea about bringing dinosaurs back to life and making it a park attraction for all peoples of the world to enjoy, becomes a disastrous suicide-like trip for a group of handpicked "inspectors". The reader will undoubtedly be into this book because of its great and almost life-like realism. A must get.
Rating: Summary: I'm only 13 and I read and LOVED this book! Review: Chriton brings the story to life! It's much better than the movie! I admit as a teenager I have an attention span of about 2 seconds but 1 Friday I sat down and started reading this book. I didn't stop (except to eat, sleep, go 2 the bathroom and shower) untill 11:00 on Sunday night! I loved how this book just sucked me right into it! It was SO descriptive! And the velociraptors are GREAT! The T-Rex leaves much 2 be desired. 2 slow and clumsy AND DUMB! Another of my fave dinos in the book/movie is the dilophysaurus (the spitting dinos that killed Nedry) I found myself feeling incomplete if I put this book down even for a second, and after I finished it I wanted the book to keep going on forever! The characters weren't very well developed but it was good enough 4 me (that way if they got eatin alive I wouldn't be 2 sad)! Well that's all I can say about this book without TOTALLY ruining it 4 U! READ THIS BOOK! U MIGHT AS WELL BUY IT CAUSE YOU'LL WANNA READ IT 100 TIMES OVER!
Rating: Summary: The best book ever written! ...Fantastic! Review: This is the best book I have ever read in my entire life. It is fabulous. I couldn't stop reading this book, it was terrific, filled with action, drama and suspense. This is a must-read for any, dinosaur fan, action lover, or just somebody who wants to read a great book. The original novel is a lot better than the movie. It's jam packed with more veloci-raptor chases, Tyranosaurus attacks, and dinosaurs that weren't even in the movie. This is truly a wonderful, wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Crichton's best! Review: I've read most of Michael Crichton's books, (Sphere, Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Terminal Man, The Andromeda Strain, Timeline, and Airframe)and this has to be his best! I found it to be way better than the movie. Just gold! This is the book to read!
Rating: Summary: its fiction! Review: what some seem not to get is that this is not pure science; its FICTION based on reality to an incredible degree; what chriton does best:)
Rating: Summary: Jurassic Park is one of the best books EVER! Review: The first time I had read Jurassic Park was in 7th grade, only last year. I had a hard time understanding it because the book can be quite technical. But I loved the action. I just finnished it a couple of days ago and I had understood it much better. Michael Chrichton is one of the best authors I have seen. He really takes the reader into the book. I felt like I was actually in Jurassic Park, rather than reading about it. It's a wonderful sensation. The charactors that he describes almost seem real. I would definitely chose this books over regular dinosaur or science fiction books. Some people would say that the movie of Jurassic Park is better than the book. Personaly, I disagree. The book is so much beter than the movie; hands down! When you read it, you feel scared. Scared as in the dinosaurs are going to eat you. While reading, I looked at the raptors, streight in the eyes. I could smell their fetid stench. You can't do that in the movie. So, in concusion, I would like to say that Jurassic Park is one of the best books that I have read. Michael Chrichton is a wonderful author and in just one page of his books, he can teach you about dinosaurs, humanity, anything. If I had to read any book in the world for a project, I would definitelly chose this one.
Rating: Summary: suspense keeps the reader interested Review: Along the coastline of Costa Rica, strange lizard looking creatures start to appear. INGEN, the genetics company that produce these psuedo-dinosaurs, recruits very well educated people to review their theme park from which these lizards will escape. The tour goes from fascination to suspense and horror as the power goes out and all that can go wrong does go wrong. Now it is up to the heroes to survive using their wits and a little bit of luck. The hunter becomes the hunted as INGEN's hopes and dreams are smashed in a furious tropical storm. Michael Crichton's creation of suspense helps to get the reader hooked on the drama. Through the buildups between the intense blocks of action, Crichton creates an enjoyable thriller. One will find this book very hard to put down as Crichton keeps the suspense and action going at a rapid pace. Crichton gives the reader a very vivid picture of the dinosaurs by using fanciful and descriptive adjectives. One would actually come to like the dinosaurs even though they are running rampant and causing havoc. The main characters are constantly put into dangerous situations that the reader wants to see them get out of while at the same time read a little bit of gore. Through the ingenuity of the characters, they are able to survive the park.
Rating: Summary: one of the best books ever Review: this is one of the best books ever wrote i find myself reading it over and over againe, the charichter descripition is just great. botom line READ THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Another great one by Crichton Review: I saw the movie first and I loved it and then I saw the novel and so I bought it and I wasn't the least bit disapointed. The book hooked me and took me on a wild ride! I thought that it was way better than the movie because I got a lot more out of the book, the book is educational and exciting at the same time. Yes, the characters aren't very developed but they're developed enough for me! Some of the characters are a little bland, i.e Arnold, but some of the characters are great, i.e Malcolm and Muldoon. The writing style really good and Crichton surely did a lot of research for this book! This is a must-read for everyone!
