Summary: Island of the Dinosaurs
Review: The most scary thing about this book is that it all seems possible.

Do not make the same mistake as I have by watching the movie. I was constantly waiting for things to happen as they did in the book - OK call me stupid ...

The story is fast, keeps you rivited to its pages and will ensure that you can't put it down before the last page. You actively dislike the one child for all her whining, like the boy because of his active interest in dinosaurs, hate Nedry for his stupidity, etc. Absolutely brilliantly written!

Summary: More moral than the movie...
Review: Isla Nublar, a small tropical Island just off the coast of Costa Rica is the lush backdrop against which the scene is set. Entrepreneur John Hammond has just realised the culmination of a dream: To have the long extinct dinosaur walk the face of the earth once more. His motives are not science, but profit- His. Hammond, through the research facility InGen, stumbled on a surefire way to make a mountain full of money. Through extracting dino DNA from blood inside pre-historic mosquitoes that were trapped in tree sap, and then fossilised into amber, it was possible to clone a living dinosaur. Hammond loses no time in developing a full range of dinosaurs and populating his island with them, in the quest to create the most astounding theme park ever- Jurassic Park. Of course having never encountered a living dinosaur before, it is shown to the reader that the power of these creatures has been drastically under-estimated. According to Ian Malcolm a mathematical consultant brought in to access the feasibility of the park, Chaos theory guarantees that such a venture is doomed to unpredictability and will without question be headed for disaster. And so unfolds the tale.

Summary: Extremely enthralling and thought provoking
Review: I bought Jurassic Park because I loved Crichton's Timeline so much. Jurassic Park was very well written, and you can tell that a lot of research went into making this book.Mass amounts of description is used, which is why I don't reccomend this book for young adults.Although there is some gore and some phrases that make chills run along your back, the book is still decent which is one of the reason I liked it so much.I am glad Mr. Crichton kept it clean enough for people to read. I love all the science that is in the book, as well as being able to think that it could really happen in the near future.I also enjoyed the life that was put into the characters. Ian Malcom was one of my favorites. The ending was especially creative and well planned. I look forward to reading The Lost World.

Summary: Great premise, but disappointing
Review: The revolutionary premise of this suspenseful adventure yarn is sadly watered down with cardboard characters, thin prose, and a predictable plot. The novel is much more gruesome than Spielberg's "family-friendly" adaptation.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I don't write reviews for the books I read unless I really liked the book, and Jurrasic Park falls into that catagory. This book is filled with action and suspence and a touch of humor. Well, a little more then a touch. If your a Crichton fan, then read this book.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I read this book when I was in high school which was about 6 years ago and at the time I was quite enthralled with it. I read it again not to long ago and I found it to be just as entertaining as I remembered. I read quite a few months before the movie came out and I was blown away by that as well. I find it hard to believe you dont know the story yet but if not check it out already!

Summary: One of Crichton's Best?
Review: It's been a few years since I've read this book, but it still stands out to me as one of my favorite works of (modern) fiction. This book is very fast paced and when I read it, I had a really hard time putting it down. I read it cover to cover almost non-stop. I can imagine this book becoming a little more popular again with all the talk of cloning going on and while the ideas in this book are far-fetched, I'm sure it will help some people make opinions on whether or not cloning is good or bad. So, if you're looking for a great, faced paced sci-fi thriller, you may want to pick up Jurassic Park. I also feel the book is much better than the movie despite the fact that Spielberg directed JP in 1991. The story line is MUCH more devolped and the ending is entirely different! So, if you've seen the movie and liked it and have yet to read the book, I suggest you do - you will definitely enjoy this book.

Summary: Dining Dinos
Review: Jurassic Park is about a filthy rich man who hires people to collect amber with insects inside it. Millions of years ago, the insects sucked the blood of dinosaurs in Jurassic times. The scientists extract the blood from the preserved insects, which has dinosaur DNA in it. Then they genetically engineer dinosaurs. The rich man buys an island of the coast of Costa Rica. Then he makes a theme park that revolves around the dinosaurs, on the island. A few scientists and two kids come to observe the dinosaurs on the island, so they were taken on a tour of the island. But something went terribly wrong! The power on the island was shut off, including the electric fences. The dinosaurs escape and run amok. So the people have to try to survive in the wild until the power comes back. But the dinosaurs have other ideas! Jurassic Park was a great thriller; it was suspenseful and almost always exiting. Some of the parts of the book that had technical talk were kind of slow. But the rest was wonderful. I highly recommend it: a real page-turner.
