Summary: One of my top 5 books of all-time
Review: I read Jurassic Park long before all the hooplah came about. I found it to be a wonderfully original story full of detailed scientific explanations and powerful plot twists. What an adventure!

Scientists come up with the ability to genetically engineer dinosaurs from their DNA material. Excentric millionare John Hammond has a dream. He wants to make an incredible new tourist attraction; a zoological park consisting entirely of dinosaurs.

Well, things start out smoothly but eventually problems occur. From there things snowball and Hammond's dream begins to turn into a terrible nightmare.

Crichton does a great job of explaining the intricate and exciting scientific procedures, taking you right into the labratory. His writing is exceptional, the plot is one of the most original, interesting, and captivating ones ever put to paper. Who hasn't been to a museum and thought "I wonder what it would be like if this huge pile of teeth and bones still roamed the earth."

There's nothing bad I can say about this book. Great storyline, excellent conflicting character development, facinating science, and a satisfying ending. I could say that to someone who doesn't care for all the detailed genetic and computer jargon there could be a few slow spots. But not me, I love that junk! Thumbs up!

Summary: Great book!
Review: Even if you're like me and have already seen the movie, please still go ahead and read this book!! It's not very often that I find a movie better than the book but in this case, I'd have to give the movie and the book 5 stars but on the other hand, the book has far more detail and although you know what is about to happen if you have seen the movie, it's still very suspenseful and has you on the edge of your seat until you turn the last page. Michael Crichton is a brilliant writer who has no problem writing about entirely different subjects. I mean, what do dinosaurs and female sexual harrassers have to do with each other? Either way, this is a must read book for your collection and I fully recommend it.

Review: Again, movies play down the book..... This book was way cool. The plot is so believable. By now, I know everyone has seen the movie. Don't let that stop you from reading this book. The movie was close to the story line, but there is so much more in the book.

Summary: This is a good book-read it
Review: I've read most of Chrichton's books, and this book is one of his best. I don't care if you hated the movie(which sucked) you should read it. Allthough some of the characters get annoying-Hammond, and Lex- the developement and plotline of this story is very good. If you thought the movie was great, and the plot decent. Then you will LOVE, I mean LOVE this book, its even more thrilling than the movie. If you liked this book, you should read THE LOST WORLD, and SPHERE. This book is a great book to start you off with Chrichtons novels, and you wont want to stop reading them.

This book is in the same catagory as, DUNE, SPHERE, THE LOST WORLD, and all four HARRY POTTERS,

READ THIS BOOK!!!

Summary: The best fiction book ever.
Review: Jurassic Park the movie does a grave injustice to the book. Riviting and scary ..., it doesn't go overboard with the dinosaurs and the techonolgy. Dr. Alan Grant and Elle Sattler are asked to take a tour of a magnificent new park. The evasive owner of the biotechnology company In-Gen and owner of the park John Hammond is there as well to supervice the epedition. The park is located on an island 80 miles west of Costa Rica. Isla Nublar is the perfect setting for suck a book. Grant and Sattler are joined by chaos therosist Ian Malcolm (my favorite character) and lawyer Donald Gennaro. This book will take you on a roller coaster ride that doesn't have too many thrills and spills. The end of the book is very beautiful, but very gritty at the same time.

Summary: Barney it's not
Review: A novel that is chilling, thrilling, and fulfillng, Michael Crichton's legendary "Jurassic Park" is the author's biggest success story, both creatively and financially. Ever a more enjoyable work than King, Grisham, and Steel could ever hope to write, the book was a landmark in sci-fi that would bring Orson Scott Card and Arthur C. Clarke to their knees. Think I'm joking? You obviously haven't read it yet, and if that's true, you're one of maybe four people on the planet who can claim that.

Crichton's prose is simple and direct, which may seem like a bad thing at first, but soon it will hook you and keep you turning the pages faster than Bill Clinton shifting popular blame to innocent lawyers (sorry, it's been three years and I'm still not over that). His narrative pulls you in and holds you tight, making it near-impossible to put the book down. The attack scenes are brutal and engaging. The technical jargon is intriguing and understandable. The characters are well-drawn, especially Ian Malcom, who I assure you you'll be rooting for the most. The prologue is the best part, a ghostly and suspenseful treat that makes you crave ever more from this thrillng masterpiece. Also, the way it affects you makes you want to reread it over and over again, which is rare for a book. I should know. I've read it five times, and it still gives me goosebumps.

Comparisons to the 1993 Speilberg blockbuster are inevitable, and they usually favor the novel. In reality, it's in some ways better and in some ways worse. On one hand, the book has better characterization and a better use of science fact to support the science fiction. On the other hand, the movie does a better job building suspense (the book's one flaw is that the dinosaurs show up pretty early on the tour, rather than the wait-till-it's-the-perfect-moment approach of the film). As always, movies are more emotionally involving than books, which is a fact of life that writers have to live with. If I had to choose, I'd still go with the novel, if only for the laughable reaon that the book has more material in it than the film, as, frankly, Speilberg left out some of the best parts (just wait till you read the waterfall scene; it's a doosey). Enjoy this modern classic today.

Summary: Jurassic Park
Review: Michael Crichton's 1990 novel, Jurassic Park is about a man who clones dinosaur DNA and makes dinosaurs. This is interesting, but the book is more focused on the technological aspects of cloning dino DNA than the inferior movie. The book can get boring at times (usually the parts that involve conversation on Chaos Theory, DNA, etc.) but there is enough action to keep you interested. The book is rather slow-paced; the dinosaurs aren't even involved directly in the story into at least 250 pages into the book. The characters are the book's main failure, however. The characters in the book are just card-board cut-outs that only speak when necessary. There is hardly any personalities to the characters, just you're stereotypical kid's and scientists. Actually, now that I think of it, this book stinks... read it if it's a rainy day or something... but otherwise, give it a toss.

Summary: THE MOVIE DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE....
Review: I must have told a dozen people who saw this movie to read the book! The book is a hundred times better than the movie!! This book kept me total enthralled, I was on the edge of my seat through the whole book! This is probably one of the best books I have ever read! Don't miss it! If you are a Crighton fan read this, you will not be disappointed!
