Rating: Summary: A monster fan's dream book. Review: If you have only seen the movie, then shame on you. Michael Crichton's novel is far better than the shallow thrill ride the movie had to be. Dark and sinister from page one, this novel follows the characters on a fast rollercoaster of awe and terror as a wealthy and arrogant industrialist attempts to clone and exploit dinosaurs. An attempted act of espionage combined with a whopper of a tropical storm unleashes the dangerous animals and those at the island resort of Jurassic Park must fight for their lives. Exciting stuff.
Rating: Summary: The first adult book I ever read Review: I picked this book up when I was 11, and I read it cover to cover three times. Now I am 19. Lets just put it this way, Michael Crichton will not bore you. He will thrill you and chill you. And his characters have way too much personality. This book is so much fun. If you like Dinosaurs, you will love this. Please disregard the movies when thinking of this book. The book is so awesome.
Rating: Summary: Jurassic Park Review: Was one of the better books i have read in a long time. I first read this book when it came out just before the movie IT was great reading. I have the 2nd book also I am looking for Jurassic Park in Hard cover to add to my collection and to have on hand to read again. I hope Michael Crichton writes one for the 3rd movie too. If its anything like this one it will again be a must read
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ Review: Michael is at his best in this fast action thriller. Once you read you won't stop. You will be amazed by the amazing detail and the incredible work. You will be scared for the characters in the book. I recommend this to a person who wants action with a science fiction twist. A MUST READ!!
Rating: Summary: Watch Out Dino! Review: After seeing the movie numerous times I didn't really want to read the book because I thought that it would be almost exactly like the movie. How wrong I was. The book and the movie are similar but different in enough ways to make reading the book a different experience. If you have seen the movie and liked it read the book and you'll wish it had become the movie. I thought it was strange that Jurassic Park 3 used a variation of the pteridactyl part from the original Jurassic Park book. I guess they realized they shouldn't have left it out in the first movie after all. Great book!
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: This was my first Crichton book. I have to say it may very well be my favorite book ever. I was so impressed the way this book was written, as well as his other books. The movie came first for me, and even thoush it was great, the book was still better. The action was excellent, not to mention how descriptive it was. If anyone is looking for a thriller, this is the book to read. Although half of the book is setting up the plot and focusing on technical crap, but once the excitement starts it never stops. I have read the book three times, and still love it as much as the first time I read it. Read this book, you wont regret it.
Rating: Summary: Greatest Book Ever Review: This is absolutley the best book of all time!!! Michael Crichton writes so great that it's impossible not to love it. The charecters are written so well and you can relate to all of them. Even the way the book is layed out iis just perfect. I recommend this book to anybody who likes science fiction or Michael Crichton books, or really just plain fiction. This book will appeal to everyone.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I've read in a While Review: Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton leaves you hanging in every chapter. I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time just waiting for the next heart-stopping moment to take place. I've seen the first two movies before I came across this book, and let me tell you: the book is MUCH better. When I read the first chapter I was instantly hooked and believe that everyone will truely enjoy this book. With twist and turns at every corner this will sure to be the favorite of all Crichton novels.
Rating: Summary: Jurassic Park is Triassic Entertainment Review: This book was not as good as The Lost World, but it was sufficient. The story was far enough away from the story in the movie so that you can read it even after seeing the film and enjoy it. Trust me, you won't get to the point where you know what's going to happen next...the story is really different. It was not what I expected, though, from reading the Lost World, which was excellent. I had higher expectations since I read the sequel first, and was let down just a bit. Still a good book, just nowhere near as good as the sequel (which had about a 98% difference in storyline than its movie).
Rating: Summary: Just love those raptors! Review: I live in Co Springs where many dinosaur bones have been found. I have always found the skeletal remains exciting! The first time I saw the book "Jurassic Park", my best friend in High School was reading it. I asked her what it was about and she just said "Oh God Holly, I can't and will not put it down!" I was intrigued. After college I had read most of Michael Crichton's books but had still not read "Jurassic Park". Then BOOM...the movie is released. I loved the movie. I decided to buy the book and see if it was just as thrilling. "Thrilling" hardly seems fit to describe the book! (my paperback has nail indentations on it!) As I have reviewed before...M.C. loads the first few chapters with some basic, easy to comprehend scientific knowledge...Making it easier to understand the essence of what's going on...even the morality...which is barely discussed in the movie. I'm talking about the idea of harvesting blood from mosquitos preserved in amber for millions of years. Mosquitos that John Hammond, (the somewhat delusional "father" of the Dino-theme park idea) harvests to extract Dino-DNA. ( He believes many of these mosquitos liked to feed from dinosaurs...Could they really do that? Someone tell me. Dino skin must be inches thick, but anyway,) He processes the DNA, filling in some missing links, and hatches the little creepies on Isla Nublar, a very secluded and resticted island. So there it begins. Talk of Dino-DNA is nothing more than a simple cartoon to watch in the movie ( probably for a younger audience to understand), but is discussed in depth in the book. The main characters are loving, delightful and sometimes downright sarcastic and keep you laughing. But don't be fooled. John Hammond has a dream to open a theme park, "Jurassic Park" to the world. A Place where dinos exsist in confined habitats, guarded by electric fences. He and the main characters on the island enjoy themselves submerged in a multi-millionare-old enviroment, but I ask you...what happens when the elctricity accidentally shuts down......
