Rating: Summary: Rip off Review: This book was extremly boring. The author is trying to make money off Rowling's popularity. Some people say it's a good reference to the books, but no one really knows that's what J.K. thought of. I suggest you don't get this book if you like Harry Potter. It's a waste to buy.
Rating: Summary: Like studying; but fun! Review: I just bought this book 2 days ago and I already love it. I have been going through it and I find it has the answers to all of the questions any HP fan would want. It has questions like 'Did Alchemists really search for a magic stone?' or 'Which Fantastic Beasts come from legend?' or 'Where do those names come from?!' It is really like a Harry Potter encyclopedia, but not like all encyclopedias; this is actually fun! It also makes you appreciate J.K.Rowling as you realize how much effort she puts into her books. All said and done, this is the best "textbook" I have ever seen!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sourcers Stone Review: I have never been much of a book reader. I guess it's because of a lack of time. After hearing so much about the Harry Potter books, I purchased the books. One evening, I felt like reading, and basically after getting started reading the first book, I couldn't put it down. The book is written, where the reader feels that he/she is there with the characters of the story. I found myself sitting up late in the evening reading the book. Before I new it, I had read all four of the Harry Potter books. I have really enjoyed the stories, and am anxiously waiting for book 5 to come out. I highly recommend these books for reader age 8 to adult.

Rating: Summary: Love the Potter books? You'll love this one! Review: I loved the books and the movie, and then I read this book and wow! the whole thing came to life. I went back and re-read all the Potter books and enjoyed them more than ever! So will you! I had to get another copy for the rest of my family.
Rating: Summary: A Fabulous Read! Review: This book is at the top of my list for anyone who loves the Harry Potter books and the movie. It brings it all to life in a way nothing else does. It's an easy read and something I can keep going back to as the new Potter books arrive. Thanks, David Colbert!
Rating: Summary: Cure for Insomnia Review: This book was a HUGE disappointment to this big Potter fan. Written on a level that will bore a third grader, or even an anti-Potter activist, this under-researched wisp of a book has a bibliography that - in all seriousness -- sites such sources as AOL chat rooms. I wish I had saved my money.
Rating: Summary: Highly entertaining and informative Review: I knew I'd seen a lot of the things Rowling puts into the Potter books before but couldn't quite remember where and didn't want to take the time to look it all up... I guessed that "Durmstrang" was from a similar German phrase but didn't recall what it meant. I had no idea that Nicholas Flamel was a real person who claimed to have created the Sorcerer's Stone in the middle ages! I realized some of the names had meanings but had no idea how many of them... this book touches on each topic in a light and entertaining way without sounding like a lesson from Professor Binns! (I liked it much better than the Sorcerer's Companion, which I felt was telling me more detail than I wanted to know about the full history of basilisks in all civilizations of the world, etc). This was more substantial than Fantastic Beasts, and a great read.
Rating: Summary: For those who want to know more about Rowling's inspirations Review: I found this book easy to read, and a quick read too. I finished it in a couple of hours (it has wide margins and short chapters). This is definitely the book for those who want to know about the origin of the beasts and names mentioned in the Harry Potter books, and it does do a good job of explaining each one. Although "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" may have been a humorous (although pointless, in my opinion) book on the origins of the beasts mentioned, this is much more worthwhile, because, of course, in this book they give you the truth. :) Would any Harry Potter fan enjoy this book? No, not in my opinion. I've always been interested in mythology and the like, hence why I found this interesting. If you're not already interested in that, this book could be a good starting point, or it could bore you to death. Basically, if you're interested in what inspired Rowling, and the stories behind the beasts and names mentioned in the novels, then this is the book for you. If you're not, then just keep waiting for the next Harry Potter novel. :)
Rating: Summary: Magical Book Review: The Magical Worlds of Harry Potter is a magnificent book. It includes lots of details about the Harry Potter world, but also about how its elements appear in our real world. For example, did you know that Nicholas Flamel was a real 14th-century alchemist? Ever wonder what the Hogwarts Motto means? This book has everything you'd want to know about the Magical World of Harry Potter, without it feeling too much like an history lesson. Great stuff!
