Summary: Full of information and lacking in good artwork.
Review: While I found the Compendium a useful resource for WoT fans, I found it to be pricey and the artwork was pitiful. For the price, TOR could have hired a decent artist.

Summary: take the artwork and text in different catagories...
Review: I got this for free, that was the only reason that I got it (hefty price tag...). However, the artwork is overall bad. Very little of it is good. I liked the architectural drawings of sites like the White Tower and Whitebridge. The character drawings of Perrin, Faile, Lanfear, the Myrddraal, Draghkar, Elayne, and Rand were actually good. The rest sucked. The text, with the AoL, the Breaking, the Trolloc Wars, Amalasan and Hawkwing (Consolidation), and the Aiel Wars were great. I also liked the info on all the nations and peoples (from the Aiel to the Seanchan), which shed some light on this world. I really didn't see alot of typos and errors. All in all this was a good book with alot of info, which is the only reason to get this. If you want to get a book that covers EVERYTHING, then don't buy this and get a damn phone book, or something. You can't get everything you want. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, folks. This gets a seven out of ten, due to the hefty price tag and the crappy drawings.

Summary: Ugly & overpriced
Review: Well, I saw it in a local bookshop an thought, wow, finally...but then this: Ugly drawings and a fat price tag. Even Manga-style images would do better. Did Robert Jordan ever see the drawings? I think not. Just forget it!

Summary: Wonderful Book, Mediocre Art
Review: This is a great resource for WOT readers; you can find out stuff you never would have known, like lists of Amyrlins and descriptions of Seanchan. But I was really disappointed by the art. I think whoever did the covers for the books should have done the art; at least Egwene wouldn't look pint-sized, and Loial's nose wouldn't take up half his face. All in all, a must-have - just don't look at the pictures.

Summary: A must-have for anyone who has an affinity for WoT
Review: First off, a word to the wise: if you haven't finished all seven books of the series yet I highly recommend that you don't read this book. Otherwise you will most certainly find some stuff out that you weren't quite ready to know. Which makes me think, why would Robert Jordan put the time and effort into putting this compilation together when he hasn't even finished the series yet? I guess that means that when the series is finally tied up that there will be some other encyclopedic guide for readers of WoT to invest in. In any case though, I have learned better than to hold my breath. As far as the quality of this particular piece, the book is a terrific reference for anyone who is into the series in the slightest and it really puts everything into perspective. Yet, on the other hand, I was really rather disappointed by much of the artwork included in such a written treasure. It just doesn't measure up to the reputation of the fantasy series itself.

Summary: Suited the role of Encyclopedia of WOT Perfectly
Review: The book served as the encyclopedia for the WOT perfectly, eventhough some say the artwork could have been redone. The book gave background information on the series, but did not give away any of the surprises in the series. This is a must buy for any fan of the Wheel of Time.

Summary: DISSAPOINTING. LACKS JORDAN'S QUALITY
Review: I bought this book in hopes of seeing another wondrous story, or details to the stories already written. I do not see anything to be happy about! Almost everything written is already in one of Jordan's books! If I wanted those details, I could reread the books. What I wanted was more information on the characters, the peoples, the world, but what I got were mostly repetitions. That in itself was dissapointing. Also, the misspelled words were definately not in favor! I understand if the errors are typos, but the characters' and peoples' names? More than once? Now come on, surely this book was edited! I mean, if you are going to print a book, at least edit it with someone who knows how to spell the characters names, not just someone reading over the words and not realizing something is wrong! The illustratiions were hideous! Half looked like caricatures, the other half just plain ugly! Get a better artist. The words in Jordan's books make the people and place look beautiful, not like potatoes! If a person is to the most beautiful, make her beautiful, not like this artist did. And some of the other pictures- pitiful! Why did you hire this artist, to make an already faulty book worse? I say you should redo this book, and do it right! Or even better, instead of wasting your time writing failures such as this one, spend your time writing the next book in the series! Now that would be nice, and might even get you back in the reader's good graces. At least it might if it is as good as the previous seven!

Summary: not the greatest pics, but some really interesting info.
Review: A must have, for any devoted WoT fan, there is info in this book that you can find nowhere else, especially information from the Age of Legends and the Seanchan section... I don't wanna spoil it for you.. But some of the other info seems to be copied directly from the glossaries of the books. The pictures were ok, but some of them seemed a bit amateur. Also, I have seen great 2d, and 3d pics created by fans out there, that would have made this book a lot better... though i wonder why that didn't happen... But nevertheless a good reference and source of information.

Summary: Good, but not Great
Review: I was really excited when I heard this was coming out, but unfortunately didn't get to see the inside before I bought it. It provides great information, so I would probably have bought it anyway, but the art is terrible. For example: Lan is supposed to have a hard-planed face like a rock, not a face that is a rock. Would have been a lot better if there had been a different artist.

Summary: A must for the Wheel of Time fans
Review: The World Of Robert Jordan is a great book detailing the history and peoples of "Randland" From the Age of Legends to Artur Hawkwing a must for any fan of the Wheel of time. The Book seems to be written from the time of the books, without getting too involved with Characters, but does hint at them. The only drawback is the portraits, which seem to fall short of the characters, but that's to be expected in such a fantasy epic. A great compainon to the Wheel of Time.
