Rating: Summary: A much needed addition to the WoT series Review: Unless you read the series more than once, this book will help put the WoT world into perspective for you. It will help you distinguish and understand the different nations. Personally I learned a great deal about Seanchan, and now I understand their part in the prophecies better. You'll learn a great deal about Hawkwing, and the Age of Legends. I also learned how different Aes Sedai (sadly) are from their origins. Negative points: You learn almost nothing concerning the characters. The art is horrible - Lanfear was anything but beautiful. And Faile - is it me or does she look like Cher! This book could have, AND SHOULD HAVE, been a lot smaller and shorter than it is. I have a nasty suspicion that Tor milked it for everything possible. Still - read it. You'll find yourself saying, "Ah, NOW it makes sense."
Rating: Summary: The usual...bad art Review: While reading through the series, I found it hard to remember all the extra info abotu everything. This book is a good way to reference that information. The art was awful though. Avienda is supposed to be hot, and she wasnt. Same with Elayne and Lanfear. I was disappointed. :(
Rating: Summary: Very Informative Review: This book is very informative, especially good for those who want to know a bit more about WoT. I would recommend that you read the entire series before reading this book, as it does contain some spoilers.
Rating: Summary: A Very Good Book Review: This was a very good book, whatever the other reviewers said. The text part was very good and told a lot of cool background stuff. The pictures weren't that bad, except Lan, who seemed to have an excessively big head, Loail, who was just plain UGLY, and Verin, whose eyes weren't evenly spaced. But the pictures of the Myraddral and the Draggkhar were awesome. Aa great book!
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!! Review: I really wasn't into fantasy that much until I read Robert Jordan's books, The Wheel of Time series. I totally loved them. When I read the books, I can picture myself in their place. And although the illustrations aren't the best, he describes them, so you can use you imagination and picture what they are like in your head. I seriously hope that he will make a new one soon!!!!
Rating: Summary: Pump us for some more money, Jordan! Review: This isn't interesting to read, and the artwork bites
Rating: Summary: two words describe this book.... Review: Cut and Paste...actually, i give it one and a half stars...this book is just a re-iteration of the history behind the wheel of time taken from the books. i could swear that robert jordan also uses the same exact words (undoubtedly cutting and pasting from his laptop). there is some useful information about the forsaken and the age of legends but i felt the book was pretty general in everything and almost no new information was given. the font was also huge and the margins were pretty wide. it was done purposely, of course but i felt cheated...i for one enjoyed the illustrations...they weren't very detailed because i believe the artist used water colors but they were aestheically pleasing, nonetheless. good to have for the collection but not necessary for enlightenment...check the net for good insights.
Rating: Summary: Was it really worth it? Review: I am an elementary school student. I had to wheedle SO MUCH to get my folks to buy this for my B-day. Now I wonder if it was worth it. All the extra info is cool, but the illustrations SUCK! I think we all agree on that. The people do NOT look like that! Rand and Mat are cuter, and Lanfear is so pretty you can't put her on paper, and so on.
Rating: Summary: It will have to do... Review: Unlike the rest of you, I'm not going to complain about the artwork. I have an imagination, and I can perfectly well ignore the pictures here. The main point of this book is the text section. It's well-written and accurate, and I'll surely read this book again when the next volume is on its way, just to refresh my memory. But I do have something to complain. I think the idea of the book being written by some scholars from the Wheel of Time world was funny, but it's also the cause of some irrationality. How could those scholars know so much about the Seanchan? Or The Age of Legends? The list could be continued, no doubt. Of course it's great to have information on those subjects too, so maybe it would have been better if the book didn't pretend to be anything else than it is.
Rating: Summary: A must read for Jordan fans! Review: The companion book to the he wheel of time is a great help for a readers of WOT. No, it won't help you figure out the aiel clans and septs (what could?) but it will give you a great idea of life before and after the breaking, and all the wars. It is a good resource guide should you ever get lost. Yes, the drawings are bad (Verin does _not_ look like a mouse!), but there are also some illustrations that can help. I would tell any true WOT addicts to read this book and fast!
